LOGINCHAPTER 6
You Don’t Get to Leave Nyra’s POV “And when I arrive…” His jaw hardened. “Someone will die.” Fear crashed into me instantly. “No.” I threw the blanket away and forced myself out of the bed and the pain shot through my body immediately, but I did not care. “You can’t do that,” I said fast. “You don’t understand.” The room spinned for one second, but I still pushed forward. “I need to go back before Draven thinks something happened.” Cassian did not move, he just watched me calmly while I struggled to stand properly. “You are shaking,” he said. “I said I need to go back!” I tried walking past him, but it was a big mistake. The moment I reached the door, two guards stepped in front of me instantly and my chest tightened. “Move.” They did not and I turned back toward Cassian angrily. “You cannot keep me here!” His expression did not change. “I can.” That answer burned through me. “You don’t own me!” Cassian finally walked closer, slow, calm and dangerous and every step made my heartbeat faster. “You are injured,” he said. “Pregnant, exhausted and hunted. Yet you still think returning to the pack that threw you away is a smart idea.” “The royal healer told me everything,” he continued calmly. “The broken mate bond, the rejection, the child.” My chest tightened instantly. So the healer told him. Humiliation crawled through me again. “You don’t know anything about my pack!” “I know enough.” His voice dropped lower. “They rejected you.” Pain slammed into my chest again and I hated that word now. “Rejected.” I then gritted my teeth hard. “That child is not yours.” Silence fell and the guards lowered their heads immediately like they should not even hear this conversation. The healer had already left earlier after treating my wounds, but the damage was done. Now the Lycan guards knew too, the castle would know soon enough. A rejected pregnant wolf. I wanted the floor to swallow me whole. Cassian then stopped right in front of me, he was too close and his silver eyes were locked onto mine. “But you are.” My breath caught. “No,” I whispered immediately. “Yes.” His answer came without hesitation and anger rose inside me fast. “You sound just like every Alpha.” Something dangerous flashed across his face. “If I wanted ownership,” he said slowly, “you would already know it.” That line hit me hard and then I stepped back without meaning to and my wolf stirred uneasily inside me. No. No no no. I already had a mate and I already went through this pain once, I could feel this again. “I already have a mate,” I snapped and Cassian’s jaw tightened slightly. “He rejected you.” There was silence and the pain returned so suddenly that my knees almost buckled and then my chest burned and my throat tightened. I still heard Draven’s voice in my head. “A weak omega in chains will never be my Luna.” I hated that it still hurt and I hated that I still cared. Then suddenly anger exploded out of me and I shoved Cassian hard. “Stop saying that!” The guards were tense instantly and Cassian barely moved from the push and that only made me angrier. I attacked him again, this time with my fist but he caught my wrist easily, too easily and I tried hitting him with the other hand and he caught that too. Then suddenly my back hit the bed again and a gasp left my mouth. Cassian pinned both my wrists above me with one hand, his body hovered over mine and my pulse lost control instantly. “Let me go!” “You are trying to fight a Lycan King while barely able to stand.” “I hate you!” “No, you don’t.” His face was too close now and I could feel his breath against my skin. Everything inside me started reacting strangely again, my wolf moved restlessly, it was not from fear but from something worse and something hotter. Then my breath caught. No. Not this. Cassian noticed immediately and I could tell from the way his eyes darkened. “You feel it too,” he said quietly and panic rushed through me. I jerked away from him so hard that he finally released my wrists and I moved backward fast until my back hit the headboard. “No.” My voice shook badly but Cassian kept watching me carefully. “You are afraid of the bond.” “I am afraid of you.” Something almost painful passed across his face for one second and then it disappeared. “You should rest.” “I want to leave.” “You are not leaving.” “You cannot force me to stay here!” His gaze hardened. “Watch me.” Anger burned through me again but before I could speak, one of the guards suddenly bowed his head. “Your Majesty.” Cassian looked toward him. “What?” “We found movement near the western hall. Someone entered this floor without permission.” My stomach tightened immediately and Cassian’s expression darkened instantly. “Search the entire corridor.” “Yes, Your Majesty.” The guards left quickly and Cassian turned back toward me. “You are changing rooms.” “I am not going anywhere with you.” “You are.” “I said no.” Cassian ignored me completely and before I realized what he planned to do, he suddenly lifted me into his arms and a shocked sound left my mouth instantly. “Put me down!” I then struggled immediately, but my body still felt weak but Cassian did not even react. “Stop moving.” “I hate you!” “You already said that.” “You arrogant beast!” One corner of his mouth almost moved and that only annoyed me more. He then carried me through the massive castle halls like I weighed nothing. Servants froze the moment they saw us, some stared openly while others whispered behind their hands and heat rushed into my face from humiliation. News already moved through the castle faster than fire. The guards heard everything earlier and the healer treated me openly. Now everyone knew the Lycan King brought home, a rejected mate, a pregnant wolf with another Alpha’s child And from the way they stared at me…they hated me for all three. “Put me down,” I hissed quietly but Cassian ignored me again. “I can walk.” “You can barely breathe without shaking.” I glared at him but he kept walking. The castle felt endless, tall walls, silver lights and massive windows and everywhere we passed, people stopped talking. Then I heard it. A female servant whispered quietly to another. “She already has the King wrapped around her.” The second servant laughed under her breath. “All because she spread her legs for another Alpha first.” The words hit me hard and shame burned through my chest instantly and then I lowered my eyes. Then suddenly Cassian stopped walking and the entire hallway fell silent immediately and slowly, he turned his head toward the servants and his silver eyes became terrifying. The girls went pale instantly and one almost stumbled backward. Cassian’s voice came out low and deadly. “No one speaks about my mate that way twice.”CHAPTER 130 The Queen Without A CrownThe healing hall fell into complete silence. No one breathed. No one dared speak. The oldest elder remained on one knee before Nyra. His head stayed bowed.“My Queen.”The words echoed through the hall.Nyra’s eyes widened. She immediately stepped back.“No.”Her voice shook.“Please stand.”“I am not a queen.”Elder Kaelor slowly lifted his head.“You may not wear a crown.”“But your blood carries one.”Nyra shook her head again.“I don’t want people kneeling before me.”“I don’t even know who I truly am.”Kaelor smiled gently.“That does not change the truth.”King Cassian looked at Nyra.He could see the fear in her eyes.Without saying a word, he walked to her side.He slipped his hand into hers. She held it tightly. His calm presence steadied her racing heart. One of the younger elders suddenly slammed his staff against the floor.“This is madness!”Another elder quickly agreed.“We cannot accept this.”“The Moonfang Kingdom disappeared gene
CHAPTER 129 The Lost KingdomThe healing hall remained silent and no one moved after the old healer’s words.“This child… is the prophecy.”Nyra stared at him and her lips parted, but no words came.King Cassian stood beside her and is hand never left hers.Alpha Draven looked from the healer to Nyra.“What prophecy?” he finally asked. The old healer slowly turned.“It is time.”He looked toward Ronan.“Bring Elder Kaelor.”Ronan frowned.“The oldest elder?”The healer nodded.“He has carried the Moonfang history longer than anyone alive.”Ronan left immediately. The room remained quiet.Nyra looked at Cassian.“I’m scared.”Cassian gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.“You don’t have to face this alone.”She gave him a weak smile.“I know.”A few minutes later, the doors opened. An old man entered with the help of a carved wooden staff. His hair was white.Deep lines covered his face.Yet his eyes remained bright.Every elder standing inside the room lowered their hea
CHAPTER 128 The Child They FearThe palace remained under heavy guard after the attack. No one entered without permission. No one left without being questioned.Shadowfang warriors stood along every wall Abd Lycan guards watched every gate.Inside the healing hall, the air smelled of herbs and Nyra sat quietly on the edge of the bed.Her fingers rested over her stomach and King Cassian stood beside her.He had refused to leave since the battle ended.Across the room, Alpha Draven entered with Ronan.Neither man spoke.A very old healer slowly walked inside. His long white hair reached his waist.Another elderly woman followed him. Both wore robes embroidered with silver wolves and crescent moons.Ronan lowered his voice.“They’re the oldest healers in Shadowfang.”“They rarely leave the sacred mountain.”The old man nodded toward Nyra.“May we?”Nyra looked at Cassian.Cassian gently squeezed her hand.“It’s your choice.”Nyra took a slow breath.“If they can help…”“I want to know t
CHAPTER 127 Enemy At The BorderThe warning spread across Shadowfang before sunrise. No one slept peacefully and warriors filled the training grounds. The blacksmiths worked without stopping and the gates remained shut.Every guard stood with a weapon in his hand and inside the council hall, Alpha Draven studied a map spread across the table.King Cassian stood beside him and Ronan pointed toward the northern border.“Our scouts counted almost fifty people.”Draven frowned.“An army?”Ronan shook his head.“No.”“They’re moving in small groups.”“They’re pretending not to know each other.”Cassian narrowed his eyes.“That’s worse.”Ronan nodded.“They’re trying not to attract attention.”One elder stepped forward.“They may only be traders.”Ronan looked at him.“I thought so too.”“But something didn’t feel right.”Draven folded his arms.“We’ll see for ourselves.”…Not long afterward, Ronan rode toward the northern border with a group of trusted warriors and King Cassian insisted
CHAPTER 126 The BountyThe captured kidnapper remained on his knees and his hands were tied behind his back.Blood ran from the corner of his mouth, yet he kept smiling and the smile unsettled everyone.King Cassian stood before him with his sword still in his hand.Alpha Draven stood beside Ronan and neither ruler looked away.Nyra remained behind Cassian, she held one hand over her stomach and she still remembered the man’s words.“You have no idea who truly wants her.”Cassian’s voice broke the silence.“Answer me.”“Who sent you?”The man laughed again.“You still don’t understand.”Cassian stepped closer.“I won’t ask twice.”The man lifted his head.“You can kill me.”“But another group will come.”“And another.”“And another.”Draven frowned.“What are you talking about?”The man looked directly at Nyra.“We weren’t sent because of the woman.”“We were sent because of what she carries.”Nyra’s face lost color and her hand tightened over her stomach and Cassian immediately move
CHAPTER 125 The KidnappersThe truth about the forged seal spread through the Shadowfang palace like wildfire, every hallway buzzed with whispers.Every servant stopped to talk and every elder argued with another.Nobody could believe what they had just learned.Inside the council chamber, voices rose louder with every passing second.“This changes everything!”“We need another investigation!”“What if Nyra was innocent all along?”Draven stood at the head of the room, his face remained hard but his heart did not.He could still hear the old record keeper’s words.“The forged seal belonged to Calista’s late father.”King Cassian folded his arms.“The trial is over for today.”“No one questions Nyra again.”Several elders immediately protested.“You cannot make that decision!”Cassian’s silver eyes flashed.“I already have.”The room fell silent and across the hall, Nyra quietly slipped away. The arguments had become too much and her head hurt. Her heart felt heavier than ever. She pl
Chapter 5Draven’s POVI should feel relieved, that was what I kept telling myself as I stood alone in my study.Nyra was gone, the problem was gone, the scandal was gone, the weakness was gone.So why did it feel like I couldn’t breathe?I then gripped the edge of my desk and stared at the same do
Chapter 2Nyra’s POVI stared at the guards and then at Draven and then back at the guards and for one stupid second, I still thought this had to be some mistake.“Draven…” My voice comes out small. “What is this?”His face did not change.“Take her.”That was all he said, just two words, two words
Chapter 4Nyra’s POVCalista wanted me dead. That truth kept ringing inside my head as the guards dragged me back to the dungeon, my body still burned from the rejection, every breath hurts, every step hurt and even standing felt impossible but they did not care. They shoved me back into the cell,
