Chapter 78: Onslaught

The moment Gwendolyn touched the gourd, snatches of images flashed through her mind.

She saw the wine merchant in a dark room, surrounded with other wine gourds. Someone else was in the room, but she couldn't see him.

The merchant accepted a sachet from the other stranger and shook hands with him. The sachet contained a greyish-white powder.

In a split second, the scene changed. This time she saw the merchant inside his shed, holding a particular wine gourd with a strange sign shaped like an arrow head on the body.

The images were so quick, almost impossible for her to understand. She snapped back to the present and snatched her hand away from the gourd.

The merchant looked at her, his smile faltering. "Is something wrong, Miss Bowen?"

Gwendolyn didn't respond. She was still reeling from what she just saw. She took a step back, and Ryder immediately placed himself in front of her.
