5. Elena Caroline Victor

Jonathan's days were so boring. Home was a place he always wanted to return to whenever he left, but that was no longer the case now that Amelie wasn't there.

He lazily opened the door to the house, and his laziness only increased when Theresia walked in with a joyful smile plastered on her wrinkled face. It was certain that the woman had a plan behind her hospitality tonight.

"My son, are you home yet? Eat up; tonight's special dinner is waiting for you."

Jonathan walked resignedly in the direction where Theresia pulled his hand.

The man frowned as he found his mother's best friend at the dinner table, along with her husband and a girl he didn't recognize at all.

The girl kept smiling at Jonathan. Making Jonathan feel uncomfortable and occasionally returning her smile with a faint smile.

What was Theresia's plan this time?

"Meet Jonathan; this is Elena. The girl I'm going to match you with." Theresia said it plainly.

Jonathan reflexively spit out the drink that had just entered his mouth into Theresia's face in shock.

"Jonathan," Theresia screeched, trying to hold back her anger.

If they weren't currently dining with guests, Theresia would have gotten angry and cursed at Jonathan. But she chose not to, in order to maintain her good name.

Katie and Irene, who were serving Theresia's guests, couldn't help but laugh at what had just happened.

Edmund simply did not respond. If required to open his voice, he would have given the decision to Jonathan.

Theresia did not even tell him that his wife invited her best friend to dinner at her house. Including the matchmaking Theresia did for their son.

"Finish your meal; take Elena for a walk in the garden." Theresia's plea was made to sound as sweet as possible.

.....

Jonathan didn't say much while he and Elena were in the garden together. The man chose to let the silence take over rather than talk to the foreign girl he was going to be matched with.

"What do you do every day?" asked Elena to break the silence.

"Like most people."

"Oh." Elena smiled bitterly at the cold reply from the man next to her.

'Handsome, but why is this guy so annoying?' Elena cursed to herself.

"Have you ever dated before?"

"Yes. I have a girlfriend right now." Jonathan answered briefly again without turning to her.

Elena's beautiful face did not attract Jonathan at all. The girl was very upset. The beautiful dress she wore, the makeup, and the jewelry to support her appearance did not make him turn to her at all.

The man's gaze wandered up to the star-studded sky.

'Amelie? What are you doing now? Your departure tormented me a lot, Amelie. See now? I'm sitting with the strange girl Theresia wants to set me up with. I don't want that, Amelie! Please come back. I'll go wherever you want.' Jonathan moaned silently.

Jonathan let Elena dialog with herself for too long. Cunning thoughts began to play in his head. The girl's lips smiled as an idea popped into her head.

'Watch out, Jonathan! I'll make you crazy and beg for my love!' Elena cursed at herself.

"Sorry, Jonathan, it's getting late. I think my parents and I will be going home soon." said she was hoping that Jonathan would keep her from leaving.

"Go home."

The girl stared disappointedly at Jonathan's answer, which was far from her expectations.

"And please, don't expect anything from this arranged marriage. My mother wanted to set me up with you. But I don't want this arranged marriage at all. Amelie will never be replaced." Jonathan said as he waved goodbye.

At that moment, Elena found out that Jonathan's girlfriend was named Amelie. Elena's desire to find out about the girl emerged.

Jonathan hoped that tonight's encounter with Elena would be the first and last.

Elena turned around and walked away from Jonathan with an overwhelming feeling of resentment.
