Candle

"Enough! Stop, please... It hurts..."

Selena groaned and hissed softly, watching as her foot that was being held to keep her from rebelling began to turn red. Her skin was further damaged as melted wax dripped down her foot after the hardened wax was periodically removed. Damian was enjoying it, he was waiting for Selena to say something related to her boyfriend directly.

"I don't know anything, really. I don't know if he stole anything from you. I don't know what he stole either." Selena stared at Damian, begging him to stop.

For the umpteenth time, the wax that had hardened on Selena's foot was taken away again. She could see how her skin was reddened with burns there. The longer it went on, the more sensitive her skin became and the more it tormented her. Damian again tilted the candle to get another drop.

"I won't stop until you say something other than your denial."

Selena stared at the candle that started dripping again. And as soon as the hot waxy liquid hit the skin of her already injured leg, Selena let out a low cry. It showed how she was trying to endure the pain in frustration and was on the verge of tears. Her face was already getting sweaty.

A camera had recorded the pain Selena was feeling. This footage would be sent to Axel. To show what happened to his ex-girlfriend.

"You still won't talk? After this, you won't find any more candles in the future. It's not that I'll stop trying to get you to talk. But you will go to the next level. There will be whipping, or maybe I'll have to pull out your nails one by one. How's that? Interesting to try, right?"

Damian smiled as he continued to direct the wax drops at Selena's feet. He was really enjoying what he was doing to Selena at the moment, as he continued to stare at Selena's very red face.

The girl could only moan and whimper softly. Selena tried to hold back her tears, but they were still falling along with her sweat at the moment.

"Axel... He often meets someone at a small bar on the edge of town." Selena finally opened her voice, not sure if what she said would be useful or not, but she tried to say something that would make Damian stop torturing her.

Selena's words succeeded in making Damian stop tilting his candle and stare intently at Selena, waiting for her to speak further and be more frank about the information she had given him. And Selena drew in her breath, which was slightly labored from crying.

"After picking me up from work, Axel always stops near an alley. I don't know what he does, but he often buys me ice cream there. If it's just ice cream, there are plenty of places to buy ice cream near the house. Until I realized, it wasn't a regular ice cream shop but a bar."

Selena explained with a slightly choked breath and a hoarse voice. She looked at Damian, she had tried to say everything that could possibly fall under the category of important information.

"Can you tell me the specific location of the place?" Damian smiled, pleased with the information Selena had provided.

"On XX XX street, you'll find one of the street lights out, the alley is right by the street light out, so it's a bit dark," Selena replied again.

"Good. Why didn't you say this earlier? This is very important information. You were very helpful." Damian put away his candle and glanced at one of his subordinates who immediately noted down what Selena said as information.

Selena felt a little relieved after Damian put away the candle and the person holding her foot also let her go. And once Damian moved away, Selena looked down at her injured foot. A burn that was either light or heavy. It stung, it hurt and it was very uncomfortable.

Damian glanced at Selena again and gave the code to his subordinates to let Selena go. The people around Selena now looked busy. Damian was now pushing back his waist while staring at his subordinate's laptop. He was looking at the footage of Selena that would be sent to someone, who else but Axel.

"Send it now!" Damian said.

As soon as she let go, Selena leaned closer to his feet. She knew Damian wouldn't let her treat her wounds properly soon and the best she could do for herself was with her spit. She spat on his foot, which caught Damian's attention. Damian glanced in surprise at Selena's actions.

"What are you doing?!" Damian rushed over to Selena and pulled Selena's hair.

"Argh!" Selena groaned as Damian grabbed her hair until her originally hunched body straightened up.

"Disgusting. What the hell were you thinking?!" Damian looked at Selena, he looked angry.

"I was... trying to take care of my wound. Get lost!" Selena grabbed Damian's hand.

"Fool! You're so old-fashioned despite your young age. Bring me the medicine!" Damian grumbled.

One of Damian's subordinates moved quickly to retrieve the medicine box. Just then Damian's grip on Selena's hair slowly loosened. And the man who brought the medicine immediately knelt in front of Selena and wiped Selena's saliva on her leg with a tissue, then treated the burn well, using sterile tools and materials.

"You're beautiful but stupid, ignorant, careless, and slovenly. Don't spit anywhere!"

Selena's grip on Damian's hand slowly loosened as well. Selena looked up at Damian, as Damian was staring at how Selena's wounds were being treated. Selena didn't understand. Why would Damian injure her, as well as treat her.

'He complimented me on my beauty?'

Damian glanced back at Selena, and his hand spontaneously released Selena's hair, indirectly removing Selena's hand from him as well.

"This is better, right? You'll never know what's in your spit, you slob!" Damian snorted.

"I don't get it. Why would you hurt me if you're treating me too?" Selena said quietly.

"Don't get me wrong. I just don't like what you just did. What if it drips onto the floor and spreads the virus?" Damian turned his face away and walked away.

Selena still didn't understand. She then looked down at her well-treated leg. It was a bit sore but she could still bear it. And her leg was well bandaged.

"Thank you," Selena said to the man who treated her, though he didn't respond at all.

"I'll confirm directly what you said about the bar. If I don't find anything there... be prepared!" said Damian, sounding like a threat.

Selena flinched slightly. She remembered what Damian had said about whipping or pulling out nails.

"B-but if they move in after Axel?" Selena fidgeted.

"That means the information you have is useless, and I'll make you talk again if you still don't want to talk about the much more important information."

  • Become a Prisoner of The Mafia   The Successor

Returning from the hotel, Selena plays with her cell phone in the car. She texted Damian about what she did the first day after Sabrina's funeral. She was starting to feel like an important person now and not so lost in the grief of her mother's death. Selena: Today I visited the hotel. I spent the whole day at the hotel to look around the facilities and learn about the hotel as well. They said you've been to the Gallent hotel, right? Damian: Yeah, I've been there several times for different reasons. I didn't realize I was dating the family that owns the hotel." Selena chuckled softly at the message. It felt like she was starting to get a name for herself. She was no longer nothing if she could help her family manage the hotel. Arriving home when it was dark, Selena stared at the house that felt deserted. It was because Erick and his family had gone back to their homes. Likewise, Dixon and his wife had to return to their usual activities. They all seemed to just

Grandma looked at Selena's suggested solutions to the problems in the hotel. It may seem like a basic thing. But every problem that arises in a business is part of its future development.Managing a hotel isn't easy because it involves a lot of people. And if one of them makes a mistake, chances are that many people will have to deal with the consequences. So, the way one tackles a problem is a form of test given. "You didn't come up with anything creative. But the basic solution you want to give is conveyed here. You're a simple person, aren't you? You don't want to be bothered," Grandma muttered. Selena grinned nervously at her grandmother who didn't seem satisfied with Selena's suggested solution. It made her start to feel desperate. "Well, that's good enough. Read some of the news about the Gallent hotel that came out in the past month! You'll understand how famous the Gallent hotel is among people like Damian. Damian has also been here a few times." Gran

"If it becomes a gallery, you'll have to comply with whatever I want, and if it's not, I'll comply with everything you want," Axel put in. Selena looked at Axel with a doubtful look. She knew that Axel knew more than her. There was a lot she still didn't know about this world, about Damian especially. "Just tell me what you want first, I'll say I'll bet if I know what it is," Selena said, she didn't want to make this bet an opening for Axel. "I want you not to see Damian for three whole months, for whatever reason you can tell him. I wonder if he'll overthink it or not." Axel replied after thinking for a moment, he folded his arms while looking at Selena defiantly."Are you crazy? He'll probably find me soon, stalk me, or even kidnap me again," Selena swore. "I'd love to see him go crazy." Axel then laughed at his own joke. Selena snorted and nodded her head after considering it. "Alright, I accept the bet. If I do, I'll say my wish later." "Al

"You know, everything you see from us cannot be obtained easily. Do you realize that?" Grandpa looked at Selena with concern, his words sounding soft. "I know, everything we have can't be had the easy way." Selena looked at Grandpa with some doubt. Somehow the soft and gentle words went to her heart better than the jerks and insults. She agreed with her grandfather's words. "Therefore, I expect you to improve yourself. Sabrina is gone now. You should be able to provide for yourself. I hope you're not so dependent on Damian before he's officially your husband. It would bring shame to the Gallent family." Erick looked at Selena coldly. The man seemed to be just trying to make Selena understand what he meant. Although, he could not express what he meant. "Bro, can't you not put too much pressure on her? She's your niece who you've been protecting from murder," Dixon said with an amused laugh at the mention of murder. Selena furrowed her brow at Dixon's wor

Axel looked at Selena. Selena even remembers the sentence she gave a long time ago, which Axel reiterated. That sentence came from Sabrina. Which now brought tears to Selena's eyes. Everything Axel heard from Sabrina, had been conveyed to Selena. "How lucky you are, to have been with her no matter what. And you've watched her age. She didn't, no, she was young. But I wasn't given the chance to get to know her. I only know her in you," Selena sobbed. Axel was instantly silent, looking at Selena who wiped her tears while sobbing softly. Axel could feel Selena's disappointment in herself and the regret she couldn't fix. Reluctantly, Axel took a deep breath and smiled at her. "I'm sorry, I should have said everything earlier," Axel said in a low voice. "Don't apologize! I don't want to listen to anything for now." Selena wiped away her tears quickly. She didn't want to get drawn in further. Her eyes already felt heavy from crying herself to sleep. She rubbe

  • Become a Prisoner of The Mafia   Sabrina's Bedroom

Selena entered her late mother's room. Seeing a room with a classic feel using a gray monochrome color. Somewhat different from Sabrina's ideal home, which is a warm brown color like wood. It seems that this is just the taste of Sabrina's parents. "Your mother's clothes in the walk-in closet are all from her youth. The closet here contains her recent clothes. You can wear whatever you like while you're here. But to me, it seems that your styles are different. You're very feminine." "Ah, if you're mentioning how I looked in that house back then, it's because I used the clothes provided by mom. Mom seemed to like feminine girls and hoped that I would become what she envisioned back then," Selena explained. Selena smiled slightly and entered her mother's private room in her youth. She still didn't think she could enter a room like this, her mother's very charming bedroom. Grandma entered as well and sat in a large round chair that was there. Selena looked at her.
