Chapter 4

“BYE, sis!” Jennifer hurriedly bid her goodbye, with Lorilyn beside her. Before walking away, they waved at me. I smiled and nodded at them in return.

The two of them were only wearing casual clothes. They don’t have classes today. They just have to care about their graduation practice.

I smiled at myself. If my parents could see us right now, I’m sure that they would be happy.

I managed to do everything by myself and raise Jennifer better than fine. Thanks to my powers, it paved the way towards the life that I have now. Without it, I won’t have all these blessings that we have now.

When I was young, I lived surrounded by nature in a place where nothing but witches live.

And now, I realized that it’s more fun to live along with humans. Life is better around here. This is my own definition of the real world.

In reality, witches and other strange and powerful beings are like humans, too. The only difference we have from them is that we have powers or special abilities.

I remember when I was still in college. One of our subjects required us to learn and study different mythical beings, including witches.

People described us as creatures with ugly, old faces, with long noses, and thin bodies. They even added that we eat spoiled food. I just shook my head in disagreement while listening to our professor’s lecture.

Just like what I said, we are also human. We look exactly like how normal humans look.

Our physical appearance doesn't change even if we are in the middle of using our powers.

Whenever we use our normal powers, our form never changes. However, if we are using our central power, that’s when something changes about us. The color of our hair and eyes changes. It will change into a color that we represent as witches.

There are two kinds of witches. There’s what we call white witches and then the black witches. The power of white witches can only be used for good. However, the powers of a black witch are used to achieve the greater good. It has its consequences though, it can harm others.

But a pure white witch can still turn into a black witch. In every mistake that they make, black will gradually stain their pure purple blood. Once they had fully turned into a black witch, they would never be able to recognize true goodness anymore. Their mind will be clouded by nothing but evil. The black type of witch is a race, while the change of blood color – purple to black – is a consequence and a curse that cannot be broken forever.

I closed our main gate and went back to my bedroom to get my big black backpack. While Jennifer is not home, I decided to go for a hike on Mt. Labo to collect special ingredients or different kinds of herbs and flowers that can only be found in remote mountains. I’m going to use it for the products of my company.

I opened our gate once again, headed straight to my McLaren F1 and drove it out of my garage. Then I got out of my car again and closed the gate again.

My trip to Mt. Labo was quick, even though it was a bit far from the city. There was no traffic and the road was mostly wide and free. The whole road is surrounded with nothing but

hills.

Upon arriving at the foot of the mountain, I parked my car at the side of the road. I went out of my car, carrying my backpack behind my back.

I twirled my right forefinger in the air until it formed a wisp of purple smoke. Then I threw it on my car and it disappeared from my sight.

I started walking up the mountain. On the way, I picked up some thick branches and placed some magic on it before sitting on it. It seemed to have a life of its own as it flew in the air while I sat on it. I headed the road towards the highest point of the mountain. It willfully avoided the trees or branches that we passed. The clean wind touched my skin as I sped up the mountain.

When I arrived at my destination, I stepped down from the branch. I pointed at the floating stick of wood and the magic that made it move was gone. It fell on the grass as it returned to its normal appearance. Now, it’s nothing but a severed branch.

“This is the first time I saw a witch use her power,” a man said.

I wasn’t startled, but I turned nervous because he saw what I did. Plus the fact that he knows that I’m a witch.

I turned to face him and I didn’t expect what I was going to see.

What the?! My innocent eyes. Is this man crazy?

I immediately covered my eyes, but I was curious. Can I look at it again just to make sure?

No! This is bad.

“Are you insane? Why are you wearing nothing?” I hissed at him. Maybe he’s a rapist? But is there such a thing as a rapist wandering around the top of a mountain? He can’t possibly rape someone out here right? Or maybe he’s hoping to see a fairy because he’s crazy?

“It’s a normal thing for a werewolf to be naked after we shift back to our human form,” he casually replied. He has a baritone voice. It sounded sexy to my ears.

I presented my palms to his direction. I just kept my eyes closed as I moved my hands away from my eyes. I felt the air and the plans around us, after that I summoned my power. The nature answered to my power and soon the man had a garment made of plants woven by the dancing wind that submitted to my purple power.

I finally opened my eyes and stared right at his. I felt absorbed into the internal parts of his body when my eyes made contact with him. There I saw his blue blood, a sign that he is a werewolf.

When I already saw what I wanted to see, I averted my gaze from him. I observed him. He is tall, has brownish skin, he has a round face and a bald head. He looks kinda handsome.

In my whole life, he is the first person I met with no hair. In our world, most bald people are short, old or potbellied.

“What the heck?! You turned me into a woman with the clothes that you gave me!” He complained while stomping his feet.

I laughed. I was thinking of a jewel style gown that’s why his outfit came out looking like that.

“It’s beautiful and you’re still complaining,” I retorted in between laughs.

He glared at me. “You made me look like a joke.”

A few minutes had passed before I had finally calmed down from laughing. Just a little more and I would be lying on the ground. I just felt my jaw turn numb from laughing.

“You are going to forget what happened to us now,” I told him seriously.

But before I could release my full power, he stopped me with his teasing. “Nothing has happened to us yet,” he smirked at me and wiggled his eyebrows. Fucking wolf.

I did not reply instead to stop him from saying something more stupid.

I continued releasing my full power. My eyes brightened with a flash of purple light, the same with my hair.

“Don’t you dare, pretty lady, or else I’ll strip naked,” he threatened me.

He grabbed the leaves covering his thighs. He was about to pull it off so I immediately stopped from summoning my power and threw my empty backpack at him.

“That’s good,” he told me with a smile.

“Whatever,” I rolled my eyes at him.

I took the branch that I rode on earlier when it caught my eye and threw it on him. He immediately shifted into his wolf form, revealing his black wolf. Using his mouth, he caught the stick that I threw at him. He came to me and landed on the grass just right in front of me.

He wagged his tail like a dog who is so happy to see his owner.

I felt no danger from him. I could only feel the peace from his presence. At the same time, there was excitement because this is the first time I met a werewolf.

“Stand up!” I ordered him, which he obeyed. I rode on his back. I want to know how it feels like to ride on the back of a werewolf.

He started walking slowly. I don’t know where he’s heading us, but I let him lead us where he wants.

In those hours, I forgot something important. It might be because I never saw the two werewolves who killed our parents, that’s why I didn’t worry and remember that thing.

AMARA held Custodio's hand. She interlocked their hands and smiled as she looked at it. Then she looked up at the face of her beloved man. He was looking at her too, gazing at her beautiful face."When I was young, my dream was to become the most powerful witch in our generation. That was supposed to be just a dream, but it turned into an obsession. I was always under pressure because of my parents. According to them, I should be the only one to possess that position, and no one else. And as for my older brother, when he got a girlfriend, he neglected me under the care of our parents, who constantly forced me to do things I didn't want to do," she said, staring at the slightly illuminated sky.According to her parents, in order for her to win the competition for that position, she had to lose any trace of mercy. So her parents made her hurt innocent animals to infuse a little evil into her blood. Every day, she was forced to go hunting for animals because she thought it was the right t

"AMARA!" I called out loudly to her. She paused in the midst of swinging her black sword behind our new Alpha.Akira stood up and noticed her intense weakness. But she tried to stay in her position to protect Clara and Vince. Vince lay on the ground with his head resting on Clara's lap. He had a large wound on his side. Clara couldn't stop crying as she tried to heal Vince's wound, even though she knew it would deplete all her energy.Amara's weapon slowly disappeared from her grasp. I noticed her previously dark eyes becoming even darker. I smiled at her. Finally, after so many years of waiting, I saw her again. Although I often saw and sometimes accompanied her younger version, her true current age and mindset were different. Even in old age, her beauty still prevailed. However, my smile vanished when I saw her being attacked by a purple-colored wolf. How unusual! It was the first time I had seen such a wolf. I could sense that it was not just a werewolf but also had witch blood. Fea

"YOU'RE just a Luna, but you're brave enough to face me in a fight. Aren't you afraid for your life?" Amara mocked me.I was the only child of two unmated individuals who later died of illness because of my birth. I was adopted by my father's close friend, who happened to be a high-ranking soldier in our Alpha's pack, and he became Akira's father. I grew up being able to do whatever I wanted without any objections from my adoptive father. When I first saw my mate, Akira, I immediately admired him, and over time, my feelings for him grew deeper. Loving him from a distance was enough for me because I believed that eventually, he would come to me and love me back. But I was wrong. He fell in love with another woman. Was I afraid of losing him? No. He deserves to love who he chooses, and I deserve a man who will love me back, not just because we're mates and compelled to love each other due to our bond. And now, facing Amara, I don't feel any fear of dying at her hands. The only thing I fe

  • Before Us   Chapter 18

MY vision became blurry as I woke up and opened my eyes. There was a flashlight shining on my face. When my eyes adjusted, I saw Dani. She removed the flashlight from my face and placed it next to me without turning it off.She helped me get up. My whole body still hurt. I looked at my wounds, which were now covered with white cloth. There was no sign of blood on my body, only on the stained clothes."It would be easier for you to regain your strength and heal your wounds if I did it the natural way, but I still value my life. It's difficult to anger a witch who is also a werewolf," Dani jokingly said to me.I couldn't help but smile at the thought of Jennifer's reaction if she saw Dani did that thing to me. Now that we were together again, her face would surely turn into a mix of surprise and jealousy, just like when she saw us together before. She was cute when she was jealous."By the way, thanks for coming," I said to her."Of course I came because you were in danger. I used to thi

  • Before Us   Chapter 17

"AMARA!"Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew. The wind destroyed structures standing all around. The damage was extensive. The screams of the people affected by the destruction could be heard everywhere. Even though it was only afternoon, the sky quickly darkened along with everything that was happening. I could hardly see anything around me.I didn't know where I landed, but I was sure it was far away from where I started. I held onto my left thigh because it was in pain from being trapped under the heavy debris that had fallen from the houses. I tried to transform into a wolf, but my body couldn't handle it. So, I had no choice but to use my powers.I focused my palm on the large object resting on my left leg. I unleashed my power and slowly lifted it off the ground. Then, I directed my hand in the opposite direction and with all the force of my power, I pushed the object away from me.Using my powers, I conjured orange magical dust that glowed, creating a faint light in the surroun
