The palace doors exploded inward.

Stone and shadow shattered like glass as golden energy flooded the throne hall, bright enough to burn away the gray gloom surrounding everything in this realm.

My heart leapt.

Theodore stepped through the destruction.

But he wasn’t the same.

His Lycan aura blazed violently, thicker and darker than I had ever seen, gold threaded with streaks of raw silver our bond reacting to the danger between us. His eyes glowed fiercely, locked entirely on me.

Relief struck f

The sky opened without sound.Light poured through the growing fracture above the realm, not warm or cold, but absolute the kind of light that revealed everything without mercy. The battlefield fell completely silent.Even the wind stopped moving.Beside me, Theodore stiffened, his arm instinctively wrapping around my waist as if preparing to shield me from whatever was coming.I felt it too.Power.Not violent like the Hollow. Not oppressive like the throne. This was different.Final.The portal widened until it stretched across the sky itself, forming a perfect circle of white-gold energy. From within it stepped three figures. They did not descend.Reality bent upward to meet them. Each one appeared humanoid yet indistinct, their forms shifting between light and shadow as if existence struggled to define them. The moment they arrived, the realm bowed.Mountains lowered.Energy quieted.Even my power stilled instinctively. The Sovereign dropped to one knee immediately.“I did not exp

I was disappearing. There was no pain at first.Only light. My hands dissolved into particles of silver and shadow, drifting away like ash caught in a silent wind. The battlefield faded beneath me, colors draining until only energy remained.I could still hear Theodore.Faintly.Distant.“Kiara!”His voice echoed through the bond, strained with fear.I tried to answer, but my voice no longer existed.Only thought.Only feeling. The Hollow’s essence flowed into me endlessly grief, rage, loneliness, centuries of abandonment pouring through my consciousness. It wasn’t evil.It was hurt. And it was terrified of being alone again.“I won’t abandon you,” I whispered within the merging energy. The darkness hesitated. For the first time, it didn’t fight.Instead, memories surfaced endless years trapped beneath the throne, watching civilizations rise and fall, hearing laughter it could never join.Isolation beyond imagination.Tears formed, though I no longer had eyes.“You were never meant to

The symbol inside the Hollow burned into my vision. The compass. My compass.Identical.For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.“That… can’t be possible,” I whispered.Yet the truth pulsed through the bond, undeniable. The Hollow wasn’t simply born from imbalance. It had once been balance itself. The creature roared, its massive body writhing as silver, gold, and white light clashed against the darkness surrounding it. Cracks spread across its form, revealing flashes of the same radiant energy glowing within me.Pain echoed through my chest. Not physical.Emotional.Like watching a wounded part of my own soul suffer. The ancient voice inside me spoke again, quieter now.“When unity shattered, balance lost its shadow.”Understanding formed slowly.“When the original being split…” I murmured, “something was left behind.”“Not left,” the voice corrected gently. “Rejected.”Memories flickered at the edge of awareness fear, doubt, uncertainty. The parts of existence no one wanted to claim.

The light exploded between us.For one terrifying second, everything disappeared the Hollow, the collapsing sky, even the sound of the world itself. There was only white.Endless white. And the bond.I felt Theodore’s presence first strong, burning, familiar. Then something else stirred within it.Not foreign. Not hostile.Ancient.Waiting.A voice spoke softly inside my soul.“You have finally awakened enough to hear me.”I gasped.“Who are you?”The answer came gently.“I am what balance was before it was divided.”Images flooded my mind. Not memories.Truth.Before WorldsI saw existence before realms separated. Before wolves. Before Sovereigns or Guardians.Energy flowed freely creation and destruction moving together naturally, never opposing each other. At the center stood a being made of living light and shadow intertwined perfectly.Whole.Complete.Balanced.Then fear entered creation.Life began choosing sides.Order against chaos.Light against darkness. The unity fractured

The world broke open.Stone, ash, and fragments of the throne scattered through the air as the palace collapsed beneath us. A roar unlike anything I had ever heard tore across the realm deep, endless, filled with hunger that felt older than creation itself. The Hollow was rising. Its body unfolded from beneath the earth like living night, stretching higher and higher until it pierced the fractured sky. Shadows poured from it in waves, swallowing light wherever they touched.I couldn’t even see its full shape.Only movement.Endless movement.Eyes opened across its form hundreds, then thousands each glowing with void-like emptiness. And every single one focused on me.“BALANCE DEFIES ITS PURPOSE.”The voice struck like thunder inside my skull.I nearly collapsed.Theodore caught me immediately, pulling me against him as debris rained around us.“We need to move!” he shouted. The Sovereign appeared beside us in a burst of dark flame, his calm finally gone.“The seal is broken,” he said

The scream inside my mind didn’t fade.It echoed louder, sharper, cutting through the throne’s ancient call like lightning splitting the sky.DO NOT TAKE THE THRONE.The light surrounding me shattered instantly.I stumbled backward just before sitting, my heart racing violently. The throne reacted. Not calmly. Not patiently.Angrily.Cracks spread across its surface, dark energy leaking from within like smoke forced through broken stone. The entire palace shook, pillars groaning as if something enormous had shifted beneath the foundation. The Sovereign’s expression changed for the first time since I met him.Shock.“What…?” he whispered.Theodore moved immediately, pulling me behind him.“I don’t like this,” he growled.Neither did I.The compass mark burned hot against my skin no longer guiding, but warning. The ancient voice from the throne returned, distorted now:“Balance must sit… Balance must bind…”The words sounded wrong.Desperate.Hungry.A deep rumble echoed from below the
