Three: LISA

Kayden's black BMW drives into a resort, and true to my ever unmistakable guts, I sharply inhale the scent of fresh air and moist breeze. There must be water nearby. My thoughts are confirmed when Kayden turns his car off and I hear the distant crashing of water waves.

We alight from the car, and Kayden throws his key to the valet, who catches it.

"Steve, please take good care of my car."

"Okay sir." The fair Steve replies, wearing a bright smile over his chubby face. I can't seem to be able to shake off the feeling that he is just a high school grad who got lucky with getting a valet job in a luxury resort like this.

Anyway, his smile is so bright. And so cute.

Kayden and I begin to walk towards the door entrance of the resort, and I start to feel worried that Sandra has not even sent me a text or even called me since this morning. We talked just fine yesterday, but why is she suddenly MIA today?

Today, of all days? Today that is my birthday?

I know her fashion design job is taking quite a toll on her, but at least, she should have called or sent me a birthday text, even if it is just a one lined text message. But no, she sent nothing. She did not even call me, and although I am slightly pissed with her right now, I am also worried that something is probably wrong somewhere.

I want to ask Kayden if she called him, but when I turn to him and open my mouth, he turns right back at me in that same moment and lifts his index finger to his lips, shushing me up.

I feel like yanking off that finger from his pink lips. That should be my lips there, not his long finger that is now making me think about all the dirty things he is capable of doing to me with it.

Gosh Lisa! Get a grip of yourself!

"Why are you telling me to shut up?" I ask.

"Must you talk Lisa?" He groans, turning me around to back him. I want to protest, but then I feel a silk handkerchief wrapping around my eyes.

He is blindfolding me.

"Kayden—"

"Shhhh," he whispers in my right ear. I almost let out a moan, but I hold it in by biting down on the insides of my cheeks.

I feel his hands tie the handkerchief into a knot at the back of my head. I still feel his body warmth behind my back and his hot breaths tingling the back of my neck.

I swallow, trying to clench back the wetness threatening to drip into my lace panties.

"All set Lisa. All you have to do is trust me and follow my lead."

I simply nod, despite the fact that I hardly caught unto anything he just said. But his arms are wrapped around me, so I guess I will be just fine.

We begin to move. For a couple of minutes, I start to feel the blackness around me worsening my expectation, but slowly, I begin to feel calmer when my skin tingles with the cool air blowing on it.

We must be near the water right now. Even the windy breeze blowing through my hair feels so good.

I can hear a couple of people talking and laughing, but my senses are blurred again when I feel the warmth of Kayden's lips brushing over my ear.

"And we are finally here." He whispers.

God! This man is torturing me.

We stop walking.

"Just take off this blindfold from my eyes Kayden."

He giggles, and I swear it is the most beautiful sexy sound I have ever heard. His hands untie the knot of the blindfold, and when the silky handkerchief falls from my eyes. . . . . .

No way!

Sandra is laughing her ass off, fingers pointing at my face. She knows how nervous I feel about surprises, and I am sure as hell that she is damn well pleased with the horrid surprised look that I am so sure is plastered all over my face as I watch her laugh at me.

God, this girl is really something else.

But she is not the only person or the only thing within my vision that surprises me.

My heart flips when my eyes span across a well decorated table filled with assorted foods and wines and dessert and everything that is powerful enough to make my stomach growl in hunger.

There is also a huge throne-like chair at the head of the table, with a smiling picture of me glowing all over its foamy backrest.

I snap around to Kayden and Sandra, the two culprits who are now teamed up behind my back. They are looking at me and waiting for any reaction from me.

"Which one of you insisted on this?" I blurt out.

Sandra sharply points her thumb to Kayden, who simply nods and raises his hands in the air in mock surrender.

"And you Sandra, you were in on it with him right?"

"We. . . . .we wanted to do something special on your birthday this year. I mean, you never celebrate your birthdays, so the least we could do was to come up with. . . . .this." She stutters, pointing to the table.

Sandra and Kayden know how much I love food. Sandra has always teased me about it since college, but the new deal I am getting from my female work colleagues now is their incessant rants and jokes about how jealous they are that I don't add any weight no matter how much calories or sweet foods I consume.

It is quite a huge blessing for a foodie like me, and I have my mum to thank for that.

"So Sandra, you went MIA on me this morning because of this?" I ask.

"Lisa—"

It takes me just two quick strides to reach her and hug her. "Come on Sandra. You know I can never be mad at you. Especially if it is about food."

She laughs and hugs me tightly. "Happy birthday Lisa." She whispers into my ears.

"I love you Sandra." I whisper back.

"And I love you too." She coos, petting my hair.

We hear a loud cough, and we both separate to glare at the guy who just disturbed our moment.
