NARRATOR'S POV

Morning came, and with it came fresh hope. Mira was up early, stepping out for a run as the sun rose. Her mind was a little bit quiet, free from the myriad of voices that plagued her day in, day out.

By the time the morning sun began to burn the skin, Mira had literally run round the whole village, the number of laps uncertain.

Finally, she came to a stop at the field, barely panting. Her hair was in a scattered bun, strands sticking to her face due to the sweat dripping from her skin.

It turned out to be the training field, and Theresa was at the field.

She looked the young lady over, her face expressionless. “Don’t tell me you exhausted all your morning energy on a run.”

Mira shook her head. “Oh no! I don't feel tired. I feel pumped up, and ready.”

Theresa arched her brows. “Oh! Is that so?”

Without warning, her fist flew out directly towards Mira's face. Time slowed, Mira's first thought being how to evade the speed at which the punch was coming for her.

MIRA'S POVThe meeting stretched late into dusk. I was exhausted afterwards, had been since the vision, but there was one more thing that remained to be done.“Hey guys!” I said as I reached Nathan and Lira.“Good job, my lady!” Nathan smiled at me.I couldn't help but smile back. “Thanks.”Lira patted me on my back. “You did so well in there. You should have seen yourself, holding gazes and shooting orders like you were made for this.”My smile got wider.“She was made for this.” Nathan added.I chuckled. “Okay guys, that's enough. I'm afraid any more praise and it'll get too into my head.”“Right! I forgot you're a sucker at receiving praises.”I rolled my eyes.“Lira,” I called. “Thank you for offering to help. Honestly, I hadn't even thought of it, and it means a lot to me that you did.”She waved it off, with her words, and her hand. “Nahh, don't thank me. I need everyone to survive for my own benefit too. I ain't about to lose a family right after finding one.”My heart melted.

The first person Thane turned to, was his sister. The latter's eyes was widened, just as shocked as her brother.“There's a secret room in the library?” Theresa asked.Guess it was just the two of them who knew.Mira watched them, leaning back into the chair. “How do you know about the room, Thane?” She returned their question.“It was our… safe space.” He responded. “My sister and I.”Mira nodded, totally understanding. “It was our safe space too.” She mumbled.Although her face portrayed calmness, her mind was far from it. Just the thought of that room was enough to break open the cage she'd locked up so many memories in. These memories weren't the good, bittersweet type. They were the type that made one want to scream and ask ‘why?’.Everything had been perfect, until it wasn't.But now wasn't the time to lose her mind over spilt milk.“That room holds a lot of memories,” Mira spoke up. “But it also holds the one thing we've been looking for our entire lives.”“How is the seal ther

The library. This place had more memories than any other place in the pack. This was where he met her. He recalled walking in here on a random day, halting when he saw the lady with the blond hair arranging the books by the shelf.Already, his senses had been invaded by her sweet scent, and his heart was beating unusually fast. He hadn't known why. However, the second she turned, and their eyes met, he got his answer.Thane didn't believe in fated mates, but that moment changed his entire perspective. How had he been so stupid to let her go when she completed him, in and out?A painful chuckle escaped his lips, followed by another tear. He was seeing her everywhere at that moment, but that was utterly heartbreaking because she wasn't here.He had sent her away, exiled her.Thane's shut his eyes tightly as the emotions swirling in his chest threatened to envelope him. He remembered his words that day, and damn! Did he want to hurt himself for hurting her that much!‘She’s just a librar

IN MIRA'S UNIVERSEThe brown eyes staring back at him didn't look like his. The reflection as a whole was strange, like he was staring at an alien and not himself. His beards were overgrown, too occupied with everything that was happening to even think of shaving away the unnecessary hair. His jaws were clenched tightly, like someone had put a lock over them in that position. His collarbone was very defined, even through his shirt, but it wasn't the pretty type. More like the gruesome reminder that he had truly lost himself. His muscles were leaner, he had lost so much weight. As if that wasn't enough, there was a huge black hole in his chest, right where his heart was.Thane sighed, the sound carrying the weight of the whole world. It was easy to place blames on Alexa for everything that had gone wrong, but the truth of the matter was that this… everything … was his fault. He had wanted more, and went ahead to ruin the only good thing he had in his life. He had let her go, and every

Mira tensed up. The blue eyes staring at her were distant and cold, a sharp contrast to the one she was used to.“Hey. Everything okay?” She had to ask.Thane broke the contact, running a hand through his hair. “Nothing’s okay, as you can clearly see.”A second look at him brought to a clearer view the creases of distress on his forehead. Mira immediately understood. Tight jaws, and clenched muscles, she knew it all too well. He was scared. “Thane…” She began, but he cut her short. The words fell out in a rush. “This place has always been one of peace. We've never had to attack, all we did was defend when the attack came, but now… now, we're doing just that. We're putting everything on the line, we're attacking.” Mira swallowed. Was that accusation in his voice?“We're attacking based on your word, Mira.” He took a step closer, holding her gaze. “I need to know that you're sure the Aurora's seal is in that pack.”The more she looked, the more she saw the fear outlined into every co

“Get up, Mira!” Theresa said, offering her hand with a tone softer than minutes ago. Mira's chest rose and fell, her eyes open but staring at nothing in particular. For a long time, she said nothing. Eventually, her eyes zeroed in on Theresa hovering above her, with an outstretched arm, and face shadowed by the brightness of the sun.Mira shook her head. “I think I'll just lay here for a bit.” Theresa backed away. “That brings our training to an end then.” She adjusted the strap of her swords by her side. “I’ll see you at breakfast.”“Sure.” Mira drawled, her mind seemed to be far away.Theresa began walking away, then stopped. She turned back to Mira on the floor, and Lira standing by the corner. “We meet at noon to further discuss our plan and attack strategy.” She stated. This gained Lira's attention. Her brows raised, but the older woman was already walking away. When she had disappeared out of sight, Lira closed the distance between her and Mira.“Are you sure you're don't wan
