Regina's POV

I felt the need to sleep, but I couldn't. There was still the assignment Nicholas had given me about finding out who the Keepers were, and now, here I was thinking about what to wear on Monday as the manager. There I thought; the urgent need to shuffle though my wardrobe and filter all my good fits was needed.

And so, after about three hours of thorough selection, I frowned at what a mess I'd made. "Huh? So I'm kinda poor? I don't have much big women's outfit, do I?"

My head was banging but I still managed to put the clean clothes in their right positions, throwing away to one corner those clothes I knew I couldn't wear out. Another one hour and I had sorted out most of the mess I'd just made.

There was a bang on the door. "Huh, who the hell is that?" It couldn't be Rita and Mary, definitely not Kimberly.

"...Reggie let me in now!"

The voice was faint and distant, but clearly I knew who it was. More than 15 missed call and now, this son of a bitch is here at my doorstep!

"Fuck. I don't wanna see him now. Or ever," I thought hard on what to do. "Great. I'm not playing any loud music, my lights are all dimmed, if I can just remain quiet, there's no way he would know I-"

Click!

The door pushed open and I screamed out in shock! "Fuck off, Dan! I'm naked!"

It wasn't entirely through, but I didn't want my ex boyfriend seeing me in my red panties and black top! Quickly, I jammed the door shut, hearing footsteps approaching from the living room.

"Dann it, I need to have changed my keys! This moron knows too much about me already. Should I just move out?"

I slipped in a short skirt that was on top of those clothes I'd thrown in a corner. As much as I contemplated over the idea of putting on a bra or not, I had soft slightly big boobs and not putting on a bra always seemed too convincing I was trying to seduce people.

I decided to wear an old jean jacket and button up instead. Stepping outside, Dan was seated comfortably on the couch in the living room, sipping a glass of my precious wine.

Anger instantly filled me. "One moment, I need to quickly call the cops and report about a mad man who has just broken into my room."

"Don't forget to add while you were naked." Something close to a smile formed in his eyes before it quickly disappeared again. "Why the hell have you been ignoring my calls?"

I shrugged. "Lady got busy. Why must I even pick any of your calls right now? You know what, I feel uncomfortable about you breaking into my house."

"Why'd you still leave the spare key outside?

Good question.

"Oh I know. Because you still haven't gotten used to the fact that it is really over between us, am I right or am I right?" He gave a proud smirk.

"Get out," I ordered.

Dan chuckled, then gestured I come sit beside him. "Nah, I'm fine here." I doubt there would be anywhere where I would be fine as long as he was around.

"Reggie," Dan got up, walking towards me. My heart was beating fast. I didn't like how I still felt around him.

Somehow, I held my ground and stood still. He paused a few feet from me, then his hands went in his pockets and he smiled, though it didn't reach his eyes.

"You know, this is so hard for me too. My mom, she's always so..." the words did not come out right so he sighed. "Regina, I love you. I want to marry you! If you can just give me a little time, I'll talk to my mom. I swear I will.

"You know I don't even love Kimberly. Her family is rich, and so it's only natural someone like me get married into that kind of influential household--"

"Yea, unlike poor orphan Regina." I spat out bitterly. "You know, if others judge me because of my poor background, who says you have the right to do so as well? If you really love me!" The hurt in my face was visible.

Dan's face became tight. "I'm not going to marry Kim! It's you I want," he took another step forward, waiting. Watching me and waiting to see my next move.

"You can quit your job, like we promised. I don't like that boss of yours. Leave him, and come back to me." Finally, he leaned forward and held my hand but by now I was already furious. I snatched my hand from his and hurried towards the door.

I opened it and rage filled me as I yelled out; "GET OUT!"

"Regina, you're making a mistake. I know you're not dating that man, so why won't you prove your love to me now and just resign?" He didn't make any effort to hide the anger in his tone.

"You have every right to be with Kimberly because her family is rich, and I don't have the right to remain at a job that just promoted me? Are you insane, Dan! Just get the fuck out of here right now!"

"I'm just being realistic here. You don't know if that guy is dangerous--"

"You still think you mean anything to me, don't you? Enjoy your life with Kimberly. From now on, I don't ever want to see you again." My breath was getting more razzed that it was becoming so hard to heave in a deep breath. Why won't he just leave already!

Suddenly, his voice was cold and loud. "Fine. Have it your way. You're the one sending me away, you remember that now and don't forget. You'll regret it, and when you miss me and come back crawling to me, I may not accept you. Do you understand me?"

My expression remained the same. "Out."

Grumbling some words beneath his voice, I patiently watched him storm out. As I shut the door, I waited for those bitter tears to come rushing out but nothing happened. The anger began to fade away, and something in me calmed me completely.

The feeing of relief.

"I won't regret it...I won't regret anything."

The ringtone from my phone brought me back to reality. Getting my phone from the bedroom, the phone had stopped ringing. I picked it up to find the caller, "Rita? What the hell?"

A message popped in. It was from the group chat.

'You're banned from the group, this is us kicking you out Reggie!' It was a message from Rita before she opted me out from the group!

"Are you kidding me? You bitches owe me an apology, fuck you all!"

Why was everything happening to me all at once!? It wasn't fair.

As if to make everything worse, a message from an unknown number popped up.

'Hello Regina Mildred, this is a warm greeting. We've heard so much about you from Nicholas. We expect to see you tomorrow night at our Award night, from...'

My eyes bulged out, and fear overwhelmed me. "The Keepers!?"

Regina's POVHe's waking up. Three words. That was all.But something about them turned my blood cold, colder than when Dan betrayed me, colder than Lloyd's insults, colder than waking up in a hospital after my coma, afraid my baby wouldn't make it.Nicholas read the message over my shoulder. And for the first time in months, I saw something I never expected in his eyes. Terror."Nicholas..." I whispered. "Who's he?"He didn't answer. Not right away. Not even as Julia gasped for air behind us, or as Mike rushed into the estate with backup like we'd just survived a hostage crisis—again.Only when the ambulance took Julia away, and I held Nicholas's hand tight enough to draw blood, did he speak."The first heir." We were alone. Sitting in the back of the van.Hope safe, Julia sedated, Mike and Jenna watching every window like assassins would crawl through them any minute. I faced Nicholas."You better start talking."He took a long breath. Then dropped a bomb."My grandfather didn't lea

Regina's POVHope cooed softly in my arms, completely unaware that her entire existence had become a bargaining chip.I stared at the photo on my burner phone again.Julia Tied up with Blood on her face.Eyes wide in terror, but still alive.Barely. And that message..."Bring the child Or bury the mother." I nearly dropped the phone.Jenna, sitting across from me on the jet, saw the color drain from my face. "What is it? Regina?"I showed her. She didn't scream. Didn't cry.Just clenched her fists so tight her nails drew blood."We have to turn around," I whispered. "Now."Jenna grabbed my wrist. "No. That's exactly what he wants. You go back with Hope, you're handing him the power.""But Julia—""Wouldn't want you risking your daughter's life for hers. You know that."I stood, pacing the narrow cabin. "Then what do I do? Sit here while that monster tortures my mother? I can't, I won't!"She was quiet for a long moment. "Maybe... you don't need to go back alone."I arrived at the Ande

  • Betrayed By Ex, Loved By My Billionaire Boss    Hiding game

Regina’s POVThey said giving birth was the hardest part. They lied. The hardest part was holding your baby while staring at a death threat written in elegant cursive on hospital-grade paper unsigned, unbothered, and soaked in the scent of power.Nicholas barged into the room just as the nurse slipped out with a knowing look. His shirt was wrinkled. His sleeves rolled up. His hands. Blood.“Nicholas!” I gasped. “What—”He crossed the room in three steps and dropped to his knees beside my bed.“I’m okay,” he said hoarsely, brushing hair from my sweaty face. “But… he’s not.”My chest tightened. “Elias?” He nodded slowly.“Self-defense,” he said. “He tried to kill me. He failed.”I swallowed. “The police?”“The Keepers handled it. Covered it like a heart attack. No trail.” My body relaxed for half a second. Then I remembered the note. And held it out to him.He read it once. Then again. And then the fire returned to his eyes..Hope was sleeping.Which meant I had maybe twenty minutes befo

  • Betrayed By Ex, Loved By My Billionaire Boss    No hesitation

Regina's POVI watched the video over and over again. It wasn't the betrayal that shocked me Lloyd had always been a snake. It was how easy it looked. Like ordering coffee."I want the girl dead."She nodded with No hesitation.Like my life... like my baby's life didn't even matter.Nicholas had gone still beside me, fists clenched, jaw ticking like a time bomb."This was posted on a private server, meant for black-market contractors," Mike said, pacing the room. "Someone hacked it, probably to sell the hit. But the hacker sent it to me instead. Said they 'like rooting for the underdog.'""That makes two of us," Jenna muttered. But me? I couldn't speak.Because I felt the target on my back now. It wasn't paranoia anymore. It was real. And I wasn't ready. Not for what came next.Nicholas shoved our emergency bags into the trunk of a nondescript black SUV."I'm not risking another ambush," he muttered. "We move again. Tonight."I touched his arm. "We can't keep running forever."His eyes

"Move, let me check her pulse."It was faint. But there.Still alive. Barely."Call Mike," he ordered. "Tell him to bring the backup team now. This place is compromised.""Power's dead. No signal."Nicholas muttered something savage under his breath and pulled out a device from his pocket one of those satellite communicator things. He sent a single pinged message. Then looked at me."Help me get her to the couch. Now."Her lips were cracked. Skin pale. Blood under her nails..She looked like a ghost.Except her eyes burned with clarity."Michael..." she whispered. "He never died.""I know," I said softly. "We saw the photo."She turned to me. "It's definitely him.""But how?" I whispered. "Gabriel exposed everything. Kimberly's gone. What else does he want?"Nicholas looked at me.Then at my belly. Then he said nothing. Which said everything.Julia dropped her teacup. Literally.Porcelain shattered against the marble floor as the image of her dead husband flashed on my phone screen."No," she breathed. "No, that can't be—he's dead. I saw the casket. I buried him. I cried."Mike stepped forward, expression grave. "We've sent the photo to facial recognition. Early scans are showing a 92% match to Michael Anderson's last known medical profile.""Then the bastard faked it," Julia whispered, staring at nothing. "He faked it all."I took her hand gently.
