Randall’s POV

“Alpha, everyone is already waiting for you in the Hall,” Juan said, just as he stepped into my study.

I waved him off without looking up at him, keeping my eyes fixed on the piles of documents spread out on my table, but there was only one that caught my attention.

A wry smile crawled up on my face as I narrowed my eyes on the document, reading through its content delightedly.

“Is there something you want to say to me?” Juan asked, but I shook my head.

“You'll find out in due

Lyra’s POVThe doors of the Great Hall swung open and Alpha Baron of the Caelin pack walked in, heading straight into the throne room. He was a burly, imposing man, standing nearly seven feet tall. Scratching his bald head, he strutted towards me, filling the room with a scent of damp Earth and old blood. I watched him approach, my gaze cold and calculated, watching for any strange body movements that he might give off, but everything seemed very rehearsed. His own people dreaded him. They called him ‘The mad, lone wolf,’ a tyrant at heart who viewed his own pack members as nothing more than rungs on a food chain to be treated as he desired. But it didn't stop them from obeying his every command. None of them dared to challenge or stand up to him. When he spoke, they shuddered, fearing the very air he breathed. He smiled as he drew closer, probably expecting to share pleasantries with me. But I had no desire for that. I simply wanted to finish the peace talk and return to my stud

Lyra’s POV“He kissed me and then gave me a choice,” I vented to Elayne and the sisters. Donna watched my form, standing a bit further from the rest of the ladies, her brow furrowed as she fixed a keen gaze on me. “He… He said I could tell him anything, that I could make any choice I wanted and he was going to go by that choice,” I continued. “I wanted to tell him the truth right there but I couldn't. As soon as he gave me that choice, everything changed completely, and I… I didn't know what to do anymore.”I paused, letting out a forced breath. “I just feel so pressured by all of this,” I complained, my hands lightly trembling with a memory that I couldn't quite shake off no matter how hard I tried to. “I'm not so sure about what I'm supposed to do and I don't want to make the wrong choice.”Elayne and Dina exchanged a mischievous and delighted look with each other before turning back to me, taking a step towards me in unison. “Most pregnant women would kill to be stressed by a h

Lyra’s POV“Brianne and I are blessed and lucky to have you,” I breathed, knowing no other answer could have fit the way I felt more perfectly. He wasn't only going to make a good father, but a perfect one; one who was going to protect his family with everything he had. Winston looked up, and quietly patted the space beside him, urging me to join him. I moved to him quietly, and he handed my baby over so that I could feed her. “Thank you.”I stared at him, shy, wondering how I could discreetly feed my baby, to avoid having him view my exposed breasts. But as soon as Brianne sensed the presence of her mother, she knew her food was near and began to whimper, raising her little hands towards my breasts. Being the perfect gentleman, Winston smiled and shifted his gaze towards the window, allowing me some privacy to take out my left breast to feed my child. She suckled hard and fast, leaving a few occasional nibbles as punishment for leaving her for so long without food. After I was

Randall’s POV“They’re ready,” Juan announced as soon as he got into my room. “All the Elders are seated at the throne room awaiting your arrival.”“Then I shall meet them at once.”I rose from my chair and headed off to the throne room with Juan leading the way. Just like he said, all the Elders were seated on the sofas on both sides of the throne room. Susan was there too. She stood right behind the Beta's seat on my right hand. Her lips curled into a smile as our eyes met but I ignored her and walked straight to my throne, sitting down quickly. Juan sat on his chair and Susan, walked over to the chair by my left and sat there. “Greetings, Alpha,” the Elders said in unison. I nodded curtly and gestured to them to speak. “We have heard about the offer of peace from the Caelin pack but I have my doubts about it,” Gregor started. Being the head of the Elders, the onus was often on him to speak first unless he chose to let another do so. “I feel the timing is rather too convenient.

Lyra’s POVThat question took me aback but before I could respond, Dina took advantage of the momentary distraction and sent me stumbling back with a push from behind.I managed to steady myself before she caught up with me again, ducking quickly as she threw a punch straight at my face. I managed to steady myself, my chest heaving as I wiped sweat off my forehead.Turning sharply to my right, I shot Elayne a sharp glare. Her lips curled up in a smug smile as she shrugged her shoulders as if she hadn't just almost caused me to take a punch to the face. “You know what? We should have a water break,” Dina called out, sending the spike in tension. “You should have done that before trying to sneakily attack me,” I protested, rolling my eyes. “That's your fault and not mine. I've already taught you this. As long as there's no call for a break, you must always protect yourself or risk being hit in the face. What part of that do you not understand?”“Whatever!”As soon as she stepped awa

Lyra’s POVThe room went quiet for more than a couple of minutes, save for the soft breathing of the precious infant in my arms. I turned to Winston and looked him directly in the eyes. *He doesn't have to know,” I replied, letting out a soft sigh. “He lost the right to know about my child the moment he pushed me to my limits, throwing me to the wolves.”I turned my attention back to my baby who had woken up once again. I touched both her cheeks and she giggled but settled into a frown once again, probably annoyed she had to be woken up. “You can go back to sleep, you know,” I smiled, caressing her cheek and kissing her on the forehead. I held her still for a while until she shut her eyes once again to sleep. Sometimes, I wondered if I loved being an adult and wished that I were a child, just like her. All they knew was to eat and sleep. They had no care for anything else and didn't have to bear the weight that adults did. Well, the only downside was that they couldn't defend the
