Sarah POV

Just then, a couple and a little child walked into the store. The women who were gossiping instantly went silent, bowing like they had seen a ghost.

I tilted my head and caught a glimpse of my husband, carrying the child in his arms while his childhood sweetheart stood by his side.

“Sarah," his childhood sweetheart called my name, but before Dimitri could look, I darted out of the store. I couldn't let him see me, not when I looked pathetic.

I couldn't drive home by myself after seeing the news. I called my personal driver to come pick me up instead. I hated that it had to be that woman. Why her of all people? She had left him two years before our marriage, and now she is back.

A part of me didn't want to jump to any conclusion yet. I doubted Alpha Dimitri would do something stupid like choosing her over me. But what are the chances that he won't?

When I got home, he was already at home. I put on a smile and went in after Mrs. Smith informed me of some guests.

I stalk down to the dim corridor, hearing laughter as I approach the door. The pain that stung my chest when I saw three of them dining together like a happy family made it difficult for me to breathe.

I hold my chest, inhaling deep as I lean on the wall for support. Why does it hurt so much to see him happy? No, it hurts because I am not the woman in his happy picture.

“Madam Sarah, are you alright?" Mrs. Smith meets up with me and holds my hand.

“I am fine." I swallow, but my saliva lumps in my throat, making it difficult for me to speak.

I stalk into the dining room, the smile I had pretended to put on was gone with the invisible wind that chilled my bones.

“You are back," I say with a lump in my throat.

“Hello, you must be Dimmy's wife," his first love said, and tears threatened to well up in my eyes.

He lets her call him by his nickname without putting any title. I fold my hands behind my back to prevent them from seeing it tremble.

“Yes, I am Alpha Dimitri's wife. His name is Dimitri," I try to sound possessive, but I only end up embarrassing myself because she laughs.

“I know his name is Dimitri. But he likes it when I call him by his nickname," she mutters with a challenging smile.

She was here to steal from him. But then, who am I to fight when he looks at her like a lovesick puppy?

His eyes were so round and soft with love. His lips curled up in a fine smile. He is still in love with her.

My heart felt so heavy while watching him. I couldn't even stake a claim while he looked at her that way. He never looked at me with those eyes.

Unable to stand the suffocating atmosphere between them, I left the dining room back to my bedroom. I rush into the bathroom and bend over the toilet bowl. Bile rushes up to my throat, and I end up vomiting.

The tears I was holding back flowed out without constraint. Sadness filled my heart, overwhelming my being entirely.

I cry for two hours in the bathroom until I am weak and collapse on the cold floor.

When I woke up, I found myself on my bed with a small towel placed on my forehead.

“Mrs. Sarah, thank goodness you are finally awake. I found you on the bathroom floor, burning with a fever. I am so sorry you have to suffer like this," Mrs. Smith mutters with a wary voice.

“It's not your fault, Mrs. Smith. I neglected my health instead of sleeping properly. I am fine now, you can go home. I am sorry for keeping you here past your work time," I say in a low voice.

“Don't say that. The young master is to blame for this. How could he bring back that bad woman when he already has you? Please, madam, be strong. Don't let her get to you because she is only trying to steal what is yours," Mrs. Smith urges me, annoyed by Dimitri's childhood sweetheart.

“I am fine, Mrs. Smith. Please go home, I can take care of myself." I let her know, but she refuses.

After much persuasion, Mrs. Smith left, but after I had eaten the food she had prepared. I stayed in my room throughout the day until midnight.

I got hungry again. I go down to the kitchen to find something to eat, only to find someone in the fridge.

Beatrice pulls out one of the dishes I made and dumps it into the trash can. I instantly went crazy from what she had done and rushed up to her.

“What do you think you are doing?" I slam her against the fridge, not caring if she is Alpha Dimitri's first love.

I looked into the trash can and found out that she had dumped most of the food I had prepared into it.

“Are you crazy?" I burst at her, and she pushed me back. I hit my back at the edge of the counter and wince from pain as it pierces my waist.

“You are so stupid, Sarah. You should know your place now that I am back. Everything in this house belongs to me. If I were you, I would take my bags and leave before Dimitri serves you those divorce papers," she snaps, pulling my hair aggressively.

“Let go of my hair." I pushed her away to protect myself. “Dimitri is married to me and not you." I spat back at her, and she landed a slap on my cheek.

I grabbed my cheek in shock as it stung from her hot slap.

“Married to you?" She laughs cynically. “I gave him a son. An heir to his pack and company. Do you still think he will choose you over his precious son? You should know by now that there is no place for you here. You are barren and without a wolf. That's why Dimitri has not declared you as his Luna to the public. All they know is that he has a quiet wife who cooks and cleans for him. You are nothing more than a slave," she cajoles, and I lose my cool, slapping her back.

She stares at me in shock and gnashes her teeth in anger. “You bitch I will teach you a lesson for touching me!" She summons her wolf, her eyes turn into a deep shade of yellow, and she attacks me.

But before she could touch me, a barrier formed in front of me. I instinctively wave my arm to protect myself from her claws. To my surprise, she flies back into the wall and creaks it as if I had pushed her.

She groans in pain while I stare at my hand, surprised by the strength that came all of a sudden.

‘Did I just experience the strength of my wolf?' I thought to myself.

The other light in the kitchen comes on, and Alpha Dimitri rushes over to Beatrice.

“What have you done, Sarah?" He growls at me with fury in his eyes.

“I didn't do anything," I defend myself.

“Dimmy, she hit me because I was trying to clear out the bad food in the fridge. I didn't know some were good and dumped them into the trash can. She got mad, and when I tried to explain, she used her strength to hit me." Beatrice lied through her teeth, and Dimitri believed her.

“I can't believe you hit her because of a trivial matter. If I hit you like you did her, would you be happy?" Dimitri questions in a low voice.

“She is lying."

“Answer me!" Dimitri thundered, his eyes turned red, revealing his wolf. I stumbled backwards, clutching my dress as I stared at him, afraid.

“I didn't hit her," I continued to defend myself. He drags me out of the kitchen back to my room.

I tried to explain what happened, but he hit my cheek and I stopped breathing. Shock stiffened my body as I never thought Dimitri would hurt me because of another woman.

“You brought this upon yourself, Sarah. I have been cool with you ever since I married you. I don't want to hurt you, but you keep pulling my leg. Don't you ever lay your hand on Beatrice again. And you don't need to cook for me or do anything in this house again," he declares without any form of remorse in his voice.

“So you are just going to abandon me," I mutter quietly. “I have been married to you for five years, and just because your first love showed up all of a sudden, you think you can dispose of me as you like." I glare at him, holding back my tears from falling. There is no way I am going to let him see me weak.

“I don't love you, Sarah. I never will. We should end this marriage and set me free from you. Beatrice is the woman I love. You can't change that," he declares his love for another woman in front of me, and bile rushes up to my throat. The taste of vomit fills my tongue from his words. My heart shatters into tiny pieces as pain courses through my chest like a heart attack.

Without anticipating his next words, I pull off my ring. “Let's get a divorce, Sarah."

I woke up to a steaming bath, my nails being polished and my hair scrubbed, what the? “You were out cold from a fever” a sweet voice said. It felt like death, sis. I turned to see who owned it. Aaron. But it wasn't Aaron, he wasn't a mesmerising woman with long flowy hair, wondrous skin and an amazing dress. This must be his sister. “How did you? Wait, why are they? Could they leave?” “Of course they can” she responded and with a clap of her hands they were dismissed. “You're probably wondering what happened and why you're in a bath tub with nothing but underwear on.” she said gesturing to my clothes spilling from a laundry basket. I didn't know I still I had those on. “My nana says a good steaming bath is the cure for almost anything and I could swear by that myself“ she watched me. “I'm Avery by the way.” “Sarah” I replied, my tone biting, I reached for a towel hanging from a towel bar wrapped my hair and dragged my knees to my chin. She was observing me, I co

The room was silent for a long time. His words replaying in my head again and again, like a jukebox stuck on repeat.I blinked, once, twice, trying to make sense of what he’d just said.Cry him a river? Of diamonds? What was I, a damn jewelry factory? My throat tightened with disbelief. “You can’t be serious.”He simply turned, broad shoulders disappearing through the doorway like he hadn’t just offered me a slavery contract. My lips parted in shock “Unbelievable,” I muttered. “Absolutely unbelievable.”Henry was still there, leaning lazily against the doorframe, a faint grin tugging at his lips.“Take it easy, Blondie,” he said, nodding toward the nightstand. “Drink the tea. Mint helps with headaches.”I followed his gaze to the mug, still steaming faintly. I wanted to tell him where he could shove the mint tea, but the pounding behind my eyes was winning the war.He smirked as if reading my mind. “You can glare all you want. Still gonna help.”When he finally left, closing the door

A scent woke me before sunlight did.Wood smoke. Mint. My head felt like a drum being played by toddlers. My eyes hurt, I couldn't open it so I settled for squinting. The ceiling above me wasn’t mine. Wooden beams. Firelight. Blankets tucked around me that definitely weren’t mine.“Where the hell am I?”A steaming mug sat on the nightstand. Tea. I brought it closer sniffing it, it was peppermint.I made to get out of the bed when a wave of nausea hit me, sending me back to the pillows' embrace, my eyes fluttered shut.I must have drunk all night, what happened to me? Did I go to bed with another man? Oh, hell no. I couldn't imagine doing that, giving it up to some stranger? Someone I don't love? I don't think I could forgive myself. It should have been Dimitri, if only he had looked at me during our marriage, five years and he never once kissed me.Good riddance, a stranger might just be the best thing to happen to me.I jumped down from the bed, wincing from pain. Sarah's POV Mr. Viper tattoo, looked at me like he had seen a flying leprechaun causing me to chortle, “Ow!” the martini had come right through my nostrils spilling on myself and the tattoo man. “I'm sorry, I'm not always like this, I swear” I pleaded pinching my nostrils to ease the pain, thank goodness it wasn't the tequila, that would have been a full on funeral for my sinuses. He looked at me with an expression I couldn't quite make out, maybe that's how you react when your thousand dollar jacket gets misted with snot.Grabbing at the napkins across me, I stumbled to my feet, “Let me, help” help? Alpha Aaron “Once you find him, kill him on the spot." I instructed my men before Henry and I strode into the club. The place was breezy with few people. It was still early, and the club had just resumed its night duty. I wouldn't have been here if not for a bastard who stole my diamonds and thought he could run away with them. Henry and I headed straight to the bar, ignoring the hot chicks clawing to get a client for the night. My eyes glanced at a woman in a pretty floral dress at the end of the counter. She drank up a shot, grimanced and requested another one. “Two night berries," Henry ordered, sliding into one of the stools. He looked more distressed than I was. After the diamond robbery, he hasn't brought himself to rest. He was my right-hand man and enforcer of our Mafia organization. Due to his terrifying status in the Mafia, he couldn't accept that a thief had gone past him without noticing. “Chill out a little, Hen. I am pretty sure we will find him here," I said, trus

  • Betrayed by My Alpha   Chapter 3

Sarah POV There was no point in asking him to take back his words. Alpha Dimitri wanted a divorce; I should grant it to him as a final wish. Grabbing the pen on the desk, I signed the document and handed it to him. “I hope you find the happiness you are looking for," I muttered before walking out of the dining room. It didn't take long for me to pack my things. Most of the luxury I had was bought with Alpha Dimitri's money. It would hurt my pride if he sees that I took some items with me. After packing my original things, I came with him to his house, and I climbed down to the living room, ready to leave. “You can stay the night and leave tomorrow," Dimitri dared to say after humiliating me in front of that woman. “I can manage on my own." I dragged my box down the stairs. “There is no need to be stubborn. Stay the night and leave tomorrow morning," he insisted, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. “Now you are trying to be courteous? Please spare me your fake sympathy. You
