Chapter Nine

ENZO'S POV

Drive past. Drive past. Drive past.

My brain keeps yelling at me. However, it seems like my hands and my legs have other plans. The two traitors team up and force me to steer the car off the road and stop right in front of Gypsy where she's obviously waiting for a taxi.

Bending a little, I peer at her confused face. "Get in. I'll take you home."

Her eyes widen from surprise, but she shakes her head. "Oh, you don't have to. I'm fine with taking a taxi."

"Gypsy..." I say lowly.

She visibly gulps. Stepping forward, she opens the door and gets inside my Porsche.

She looks out the window as I begin to drive, like she finds whatever is outside very fascinating. Silence settles between us and it's not the pleasant kind. It's tense and awkward.

What else did I expect? In fact, what the heck am I doing?

I should be asking her for directions to her house, but what comes out of my mouth shocks me. "Let's go have dinner together."
