Chapter Ten

ENZO'S POV

It's a dream. It's all a fucking dream and I'm going to wake up soon. After all, things don't happen so quickly in real life.

One moment, Gypsy can't be walking away from me because she's pissed off by my words, and the next she can't be getting shot.

It just doesn't happen like that.

A snowball of reality crashes my denial away when Gypsy begins to fall. I reach out, holding onto her body and falling with her.

“Gypsy... Gypsy!” I call out frantically.

Her eyes open, but I've never seen her look so stunned. They shot her in her ribs. Reality whips me with the belt of realization.

They didn't shoot her. She jumped in front of that bullet. For me. To save me. Even after all the horrible things I told her. Even after I was such a jerk to her.

She risked her life to save mine.
