Ravenna

He hates me.

That arrogant Lycan hates me.

I groaned to myself before I caught Nevan laughing at me.

“Don’t worry, that's how Kalan is.” She smiled, reassuring me again.

“I am ‘Leader Kalan’ to you.”

Her words would have been assuring if the cold, domineering voice of the stunning hefty man didn’t just send shivers down my spine from the living room.

I shivered visibly as my heart started beating fast at the ferocity he commanded.

Why the hell did I agree with my father to step in for my older sister’s engagement after she ran away with her rogue boyfriend?

I began to regret my decision because I knew Kalan must never find out I was a replacement and not his real bride.

“You are conserving the Pack’s dignity, Ravenna.” My father, Alpha Stallone Wolfe said to me a few hours after we discovered that my older sister had run away with her rogue boyfriend.

“What about my dream? I can’t sacrifice myself just because Karina decided to elope with a rogue.”

“You are not sacrificing yourself. You are only saving the pack’s honor. That's your responsibility as my daughter. Forget about attending Haven Gate and prepare to be married to the Lycan.” He spoke strictly, his controlling voice leaving no further discussion.

I turned to face my mom, my heart ripping apart with unshed tears in my eyes but she didn’t meet my glance. That was when I understood that my fate was sealed and I didn't have a choice but to marry my older sister’s fiance, who none of us had met before.

“She is not supposed to be here until after 5 days. What happened and why wasn’t I aware?” I overheard Kalan’s high and mighty voice again and I sighed heavily.

He was right. The wedding was still in five days.

But when my father discovered that Karina was missing, he immediately forced me to come to the Lycans’ territory to avoid another mishap.

“I promise he’s not always like this.” Nevan muttered, sending a gentle smile my way.

My heart became worried when I realized that my supposed husband was Kalan. I didn't find it surprising to discover that he despises Karina just as much as she does.

A few days ago, I had premonitions that my sister wouldn’t push through with her engagement because she seemed totally into her current boyfriend.

She didn’t wish to marry a Lycan because of their high sex drive and their tendency to have multiple partners.

The Lycans are quite different from us as they don’t have a wolf nor fated mates. Their Lycan form is like a humanoid werewolf and they also don’t live in packs like us werewolves.

“You will get used to him,” Nevan said to me after helping with the zip of the black polka dot dress.

I will definitely get used to him since I'm stuck with him but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was, he is hella attractive. He is the most appealing older man I’d ever seen in my entire life.

“Go.” She laughed at my melancholy look before gently pushing me to the door.

My heart is currently under so much pressure and my body isn't helping at all. I feel mad at myself for finding Kalan’s intimidating voice to be a huge turn-on.

“I sent Calix to inform you about the arrangement. But you still came.” The Lycan who was introduced to me as Caelum Grey pointed out and my legs almost gave out when I heard Kalan's oppressive growl. He suddenly moved to strike Caelum but Lady Vieva hurriedly placed herself between them to stop the fatal attack.

“Kalan, stop at once. This is enough already.” She cautioned, glaring at him ferociously, matching his savagery.

“Since you are already here, just take your bride with you and get to know each other before the wedding.”

“Mother!” Kalan ground his teeth and grumbled at his mother’s suggestion, his eyes spitting fire.

“You are my husband?” I decided to break the uncomfortable silence but his furious eyes snapped at me. Even though he was pleasing to the eyes, he looked so angry right now that I almost thought he would pick me up and strangle me.

Call me foolish, but I could feel myself getting wet at the thought.

“Like what you see?” He threw at me and I quickly looked away to hide my blush.

“Change out of that dress,” Kalan demanded in an arrogant tone and I frowned at his order.

The dress fits perfectly and my stuff hasn’t arrived yet. I wanted to complain but he already turned away from me.

I pouted at his lone back frame before I turned into Nevan’s bedroom again.

I changed back into my bell-bottom pants and navy blue off-shoulder blouse before returning to the living room again.

The uneasiness in the room had decreased but Kalan still looked pissed.

“I will be leaving with her to sow some bonds, so we can cultivate them before the wedding.” He asserted coldly, grabbing my wrist and dragging me out with him.

When we got out of the mansion, we met a large crowd, most of them in their Lycan form. They started whispering when they saw us coming out.

“Are you sure the she-wolf is Our Lady and not a slave?” I heard a voice murmur in the crowd as they dispersed to make way for us to pass through.

“If she’s a slave, why is he holding her?” Another asked.

“Did you have eyes at all? He is basically dragging her.”

“He is walking at a normal pace. That's not called dragging.”

“Everyone in the territory is talking about the Leader’s date with Miss Lyssa at Chandelier today. I heard it was the most beautiful thing ever.”

His friend scoffed, “what does that have to do with what we are talking about here?”

“Dummy, I'm saying Leader Kalan can never fall for the she-wolf.”

I felt my body tense up beside Kalan immediately after the Lycan’s words but I ignored it. I wasn’t surprised to learn that he has a lover. I was more distressed about him finding out that I was a replacement before the wedding.

Our drive back to his apartment was a long one. It also had to be one of the tensest moments of my life.

Kalan was mute all through.

Kalan’s apartment is a luxurious condo. It was on the top floor of an expensive-looking condominium.

When we entered his room, the light was on, and I couldn’t help but notice how tidy his space was. He had a long white couch, a smart TV, a mini study and kitchen by the side, and a king-size bed that was freshly laid with a silk fresh comforter on it. It was so smooth that I couldn’t stop the irrational thought about how many women he had fucked on it

“You can take the bed,” He muttered when he caught my gaze.

“No, I will just take the couch.” I quickly rejected his offer only to turn my head to meet his furious expression.

I frowned at his tall bulky yet well-defined body frame as he pushed himself toward the fridge I just noticed by the corner.

My gaze fell on his jacket laying on the couch and decided to pick it up and change out of my outfit. I feel uncomfortable in my outfit because it stinks of sweat and I can’t possibly wear it to sleep.

I didn't ask for Kalan’s permission to change into the jacket because I was scared that a word from me would flip him. He was standing beside the fridge, a beer in his hands while looking like a crammed tornado, waiting to explode.

I started debating on whether to talk or not when he suddenly spoke.

“How old are you?”

My heart leaped at his question and I bit my inner cheek nervously. This was a tricky question because I was confused about whether to say my real age or my older sister’s age.

I decided on the latter because that was who I was supposed to be.

“So why are you trembling like a minor?” He demanded coldly, taking long calculated strides toward me.

I swallowed and backed away, struggling to keep afloat before he could get to me. In a second, he already had me trapped beneath him and against the wall.

My heart started pounding as if it were a train on the tracks when his dark compelling aura surrounded me. The tiny hair on my body stood due to an intense feeling of nervousness.

He was standing so close to me that I could hear his heart thumping in my ears.

“Did you think I will sleep with you tonight?” He hoots with a disdainful tone as his eyes fall on the loose buttons of my pants.

I didn’t dare to admit to him I had thought of the possibility.

I mean, It would be nice to know he finds me desirable rather than despicable.

“I will never sleep with you, Ravenna.” He asserted, his words piercing my heart as his hot breath fanned on my neck.

He suddenly yanked my willing body to him and I gasped at my impulsive reaction in my core when my full breasts nudged his solid chest.

Our current position was too titillating for my aroused body to contain. I could feel my clitoris clench and unclench. He didn’t release his grip on my waist. My nipples were also getting harder by the second.

I couldn’t help but wonder when he still didn’t release his hold on me.

When he finally released his grip on my waist, my legs gave out and I fell to the floor.

I moaned inwardly in irritation as I saw him move to grab another beer.

Kalan didn’t spare me a glance before he walked out of the room, leaving me to my horrible fate and aroused body.
