Verity's chest heaved as she pounded the pavement, her breaths coming in ragged gasps. She pushed herself harder, her legs pumping with a fierce determination. Her heart raced as she darted through the dark lanes, her mind consumed with fear that Alpha Maurius's people would catch her. But as she emerged onto the bustling city roads, she realized that her fears were misplaced.
