~Elvira~

A low rumbling growl pulled my attention away from the blonde warrior.

Alpha Gabriel was glaring at me, a dark look of annoyance clouding his features.

My cheeks burned red...he had caught me looking at someone else, and the mate bond made it feel like a betrayal.

I dropped my gaze fidgeting with my fingers.

"Gabriel," the blonde called...his voice carried a smooth British accent. "What you asked for is ready."

"Hang on, Cole. I’ll wrap this up," Gabriel muttered taking a

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    A web of lies…and tangled allegiances…

~Elvira~Gabriel rose slowly from his seat and cleared his throat. “Elvira is a warrior and a respected member of my pack,” he began... “Months ago she came to Silverblade seeking refuge. She claimed she was running from her abusive stepfather. Recently I learned that this same man also murdered her mother.”Shocked murmurs rolled through the room…Elders and Council members turned to one another with widened eyes…across the hall, my stepfather and Alpha Roland both froze.“Beta Stephen?” one of the Council members called. My stepfather stood and walked forward until he was only a few paces from me.“Is it true,” the Council member asked, “that you murdered her mother…your late wife…and that you physically abused Warrior Elvira while she still lived with you in Rivermoon Pack?”Stephen spread his hands in an expression of innocence. “Council Member Regnar, you have known me for many years…how could I murder my own wife and abuse my stepdaughter without a single pack member noticing?

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Ghost of Rivermoon…

~Elvira~ “So what’s going to happen now? Do I get punished or what?” I asked looking between Unit Commander Karen and Gabriel. They exchanged a silent glance. Gabriel cleared his throat, but before he could speak the door swung open…Unit Commander Manson and Head Warrior Sefa strode in with authority aura rolling off them… My heart sank into my stomach... I grimaced and tried to shrink into myself…praying the floor would open and swallow me whole. Manson was my superior at work… my trainer…someone I genuinely respected. The fact that both he and Sefa had been summoned told me just how serious this had become. “Alpha Gabriel, the Council and the Elders are calling for an emergency meeting in the Council Hall,” Sefa announced. Manson’s gaze stayed locked on me, grim and unreadable. How was I going to dig myself out of this? My stepfather had triggered everything. I had thought I was ready to face him, but the moment I saw his face every old wound ripped open…

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    More than fucked up…

~Elvira~ “Gabriel!” “Gabriel!” Robert and I screamed at the same time, but Gabriel didn’t even flinch. His hand was locked around my stepfather’s throat… Stephen clawed desperately at his grip gasping for air. Alpha Roland lunged forward to pull Gabriel off, but Gabriel shoved him away with so much force that Roland stumbled backward while Calvin had to catch him before he fell…the shock on Roland’s face was almost satisfying to watch. I know I had mentioned about the physical abuse from my stepfather... but when he had asked me to introduce him so he could put a face to the man, I never imagined this would be his reaction… The entire hall had gone silent except for the soft background music…every conversation died…every eye turned toward the Alpha of Silverblade choking a visiting Beta in the middle of the annual gathering… “I think it’s about time we had a little talk. What do you think?” Gabriel said in a calm voice as if the rest of the room didn’t exist. “I

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Duty at the ball…

~Elvira POV~I finished packing the last of the fresh fruit and the wrapped dishes Uncle Silas had sent from the kitchen into my refrigerator.“This should last us a few weeks until payday,” I murmured, trying to smile even as nervousness and anxiety coiled in my veins...Today was the day. The annual party. He would finally be here. After all these months, I might come face to face with the man I had escaped. How would he react? Would he cause a scene in front of everyone?I had originally hoped for a free day…maybe even the chance to wear a beautiful gown and move through the crowd unnoticed…instead, Unit Commander Manson had assigned me to security…I dressed in the black suit and fitted slacks, slipped the earpiece and my warrior ID into my pocket, and pulled my hair into a tight ponytail…then left the safety of my apartment and headed to the briefing.By the time I arrived, most of the security team was already present…thirty of us dressed head to toe in black, looking more l

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Secret sources…

~Vanessa~ “Alpha Roland,” I called as I stepped into the office. Inside, Alpha Roland and Beta Stephen were bent over an open box filled with security cameras… the packing labels were familiar…Silverblade…. Exactly the secret shipment I had arranged through one of my remaining contacts... “Yes, Vanessa, come in.” He replied. “I must say, you’re finally going to prove your worth… after we were generous enough to take you into this pack.” My fingers twitched with the urge to slap that expression right off his face… but I swallowed the impulse… I wouldn’t dare. Every time that selfish mouth of his opened, nothing but arrogance and insults spilled out… How this man had ever become Alpha of Rivermoon Pack still baffled me…most likely the title had simply been handed down from his father, in the month I had to live under his roof, one truth had was clear…he was an unfit ruler…grumpy, selfish, extremely rude, and everything Gabriel was not. Gabriel Grayson. My man. He

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Something odd…

~Elvira~I shook my head quickly, forcing the sickness down, and managed a tight smile. “I’m fine.”He didn’t believe me. His eyes moved to the watching junior cooks and maids.“Back to your duties!” he barked and they scattered at once.“I’m starving. Any food?” I asked, trying to sound normal.“Of course. Come sit.” He gestured to our usual table and set a plate of beef stew and warm bread pie in front of me. “Congratulations on the new job, by the way. I’m proud of you, Elvira.”“Thank you.”“How was the first day? I heard you moved out of the mansion. You doing okay? Need some takeaways?”“Oh, Silas, yes…please. Takeaways would be perfect. Work is… fine. Not bad.” I shrugged.“Good. I’ll pack you several dishes before you leave. And don’t overexert yourself. Rest when you’re tired. You’re always welcome to eat here.” He patted my shoulder and returned to the cookers, already barking new orders.I looked around for Aria but couldn’t find her.“Where’s Aria?”Silas wiped his hands

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Intimidating Alpha

~Elvira~ The walk to the mansion was silent. I kept my eyes down, but noticed high sensory cameras tucked into the oak branches, their red lights blinking. Silverblade had a massive security network. The pack house was a large mansion of marble and white stone, beautiful but intimidating.

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Unexpected treatment

~Elvira~ ~Present~ The cell door hissed shut behind me, the locking mechanism echoing down all the way down, after the chill of the cell, I felt completely weak, my muscles trembling, my legs buckled, so I dropped my hands to my knees to keep from fainting. "What do you think you're doing?" a

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Meeting helpful humans

~ Elvira~ "I’m Lisa, and that handsome giant over there is my brother, Carson," Lisa said, her voice sounded bright and eager. She pointed toward the door where a tall, blonde guy stood. He was 6'1", with lean, functional muscle. He gave me a sheepish smile, his bright blue eyes filled with a

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    The Escape

~Elvira~ ~Flashback: Two Weeks Ago~ I ran. I had been moving for over an hour, the damp earth of the forest floor cold against my paws. Every joint throbbed and my muscles burned from exhaustion, but the terror of being caught kept me moving. I had to escape that house and the man who ha
