Intimidating Alpha

The walk to the mansion was a silent one. I kept my eyes low, but I couldn't miss the high-definition lenses tucked into the oak branches, their red power-lights blinking like tiny, watchful eyes.

Silverblade didn't just have borders; it had a nervous system of glass and wire. When the pack house finally came into view, it was less a home and more a big mansion of glass and dark stone. It was beautiful, but it was a beauty designed to intimidate.

Inside, the air was pressurized, humming with the silent efficiency of patrolling warriors. We stopped at a door labeled simply OFFICE.

The guard knocked, a heavy sound that seemed to echo in the pit of my stomach, and Gabriel’s voice barked from within.

"Enter."

The guard shoved me inside and vanished, the door clicking shut with an air-tight seal. I was alone with the Alpha.

Gabriel sat behind a massive desk of dark, polished wood, his attention buried in a stack of reports. The office felt like an extension of the man himself—powerful, expensive, and entirely devoid of warmth.

There were no photos of family, no personal trinkets; only artifacts of trinkets and a massive window that overlooked his kingdom like a sniper’s nest.

I stood there, my legs trembling, waiting for him to acknowledge I was even breathing.

Finally, he stood. The powder-blue shirt he wore couldn't hide the lethal bulk of his shoulders as he circled around the desk toward me.

He moved with a predator’s grace, stopping so close I could feel the heat radiating off his skin. His nostrils flared as he drank in my scent, his gaze raking over me with a clinical, mocking slowness.

When his eyes hit my chest, his brow furrowed into a deep, irritated line.

"Hope you had a good night's rest," he taunted, his voice a low, sandpaper growl.

"It was cold, and I didn't sleep a wink," I snapped back, my exhaustion making me bolder than I should have been.

"Are you implying my pack lacks hospitality?" He arched a brow, his eyes dark and tired, yet sharp enough to cut.

"I’m grateful I wasn't killed," I replied, forced a smile that felt like a mask. "But 'hospitable' isn't the word I'd use for a stone floor and no water."

Gabriel reached out, his fingers hooking under my chin to tilt my face up. The contact was like a live wire hitting water.

A jolt of pure, electric heat surged through me, and to my utter betrayal, my body responded instantly. My nipples hardened against the thin fabric of my tank top. Through the bond, I felt a flash of his own sharp attraction before he masked it with a sneer.

"Do you enjoy walking around without a bra?" He asked, his voice harsh. "Or is this another 'rogue' tactic to distract me?"

I gasped, heat rushing to my cheeks as I realized why he’d been frowning. I crossed my arms over my chest, mortified. "They’re uncomfortable. I didn't think I'd be standing in an Alpha’s office today."

He stepped back, leaning against his desk, the silhouette of his power framing him. "What's your name?"

"Elvira Bradford," I said, using my mother’s maiden name. I wasn't about to give him a trail that led back to my stepfather’s territory.

"And your pack?" he pressured, his voice dropping an octave.

"I’d rather not say. I want nothing to do with them."

The snarl that ripped from his throat made me flinch. "You think you’re in a position to make demands? You are a trespasser. I am the Alpha. You will answer every question I ask, or I will ensure your stay here becomes significantly less 'hospitable.'"

He was looming over me, his wolf pushing against the surface of his skin, when his phone shattered the tension. He barked a greeting into the receiver, but as the person on the other end spoke, I watched the color drain from his face, replaced by a murderous, glowing-eyed rage.

"Are you sure?" he asked, his grip on the phone white-knuckled. "Get the tactical teams ready."

He slammed the phone down and turned his gaze back to me, though he looked like he was seeing through me. "I’ll deal with you later," he promised, his voice a promise of future pain. "Don't leave this room."

He vanished through the door, leaving me standing in the silence of his power. My heart slowed down and i released a breath i didn't know i was holding. I was safe for the moment, but the look in his eyes told me that whatever news he'd just received, the peace in Silverblade may be over—and I was still caught in the middle of it.

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Gabriel's Pov

~Gabriel~The heavy bag groaned under the weight of my strike, the chain rattling against the stone ceiling of the private gym. My knuckles were split, blood mixing with the sweat that poured down my face, but I didn’t stop. I couldn't stop. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt the agonising pull of her—the scent of lilies and something like vanilla that made my wolf, Bane, howl until my head throbbed. I hated it. I hated that the moon goddess thought she could dictate my life. I had spent years building Silverblade into the strongest pack in the territory. I had balanced the Elders, the pack and the warriors under my control. I had chosen Venessa because she was a known variable predictable, high-born, and exactly what a Luna should be. And then she walked in. A rogue with dirt under her fingernails and eyes that held a power I didn't understand. 'She is ours, Bane snarled in the back of my mind, his claws digging into my subconscious. You lie to yourself. You ac

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Forced to watch him with another

~ Elvira~I didn't head straight back to the heat of the kitchen. My head was too full of the lingering scent of Gabriel on Venessa’s skin. I needed a moment where I wasn't a rogue or a mate, just a servant. I slipped into the laundry alcove to drop off some tray's linens, but stopped when I heard high-pitched giggling from around the corner. I leaned against the stone wall of the laundry, the cold of the stone wall doing nothing to cool the fire in my blood. A peal of shrill laughter erupted from the corner. It was the same girls who had ruined my first batch of laundry. Calla, Marina, and Trix I found out their names after that incident. Here they are huddled together, their eyes fixed on the training grounds through the high, narrow window. "Did you see the Alpha today?," Calla sighed, her voice dripping with longing. "Gabriel was in a mood today. Did you see the marks on his neck this morning? Venessa must have had quite a night." "Well, she’s earned it," Marina

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate     The Pride and the Shame

~Elvira ~Gabriel walked in, his presence immediately pulling the oxygen from the room. He looked impeccable, but there was a darkness under his eyes that hadn’t been there yesterday. Behind him was Cole, his Beta and best friend, who was busy checking something on a digital tablet.Gabriel’s eyes swept the kitchen, stopping on Venessa for a fraction of a second before landing on me. I didn't look away. I couldn't. I wanted him to see the ghost of the girl he had kissed, now replaced by someone who had heard every groan and every gasp through a study door. His gaze dropped to my wrist, checking the beads, then back to my face. He flinched, almost imperceptibly, at the coldness he found there. "Venessa, go get dressed," Gabriel said, his voice clipped. Venessa shot me one last look of pure hatred before sashaying past Gabriel, her hand lingering on his arm as she passed. He didn't pull away, but he didn't lean in either. He just stood there like a statue. "Silas," Cole c

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Betrayal

~Elvira ~ I was bored in my room and wanted to go watch the stars and get some fresh air, i slipped out, going through the door that separated the Alpha’s wing from the main gallery. The pack house was dead quiet, save for the low hum of the heating vents. I headed toward the balcony at the end of the hall, but as I passed the double doors of Gabriel's private office, a sound stopped me.I heard a gasp. Deep, sharp, and unmistakably female. I froze immediately, My heart, which had been settling into a steady pulse suddenly lurched. Val who had been quiet throughout the day, suddenly started scratching at the back of my mind. She was curious so I moved closer. I shouldn't have moved closer. Every instinct screamed at me to run back to the safety of my bed, to keep my eyes shut and my ears closed. But the bond was a cruel thread, pulling me toward the door until my ear was pressed against the cold wood. "Gabriel... please..." Venessa’s voice. It had lost the sharp,

~ Elvira ~Sefa’s eyes flickered toward the heavy door, the shadow of the guard passing across the frosted glass. My heart was beating erratically inside my ribs, and I could feel the heat in my blood beginning to hum in response to incoming danger. If he called them in, how would I explain i was having private session with the twins. There was no way to explain why the Alpha’s Gamma was finding a 'servant' training with the elite twins in a forgotten armory. "Gamma Sefa?" the voice called again, closer this time. The handle of the door rattled. Sefa’s gaze snapped back to mine. In a heartbeat, I saw the warrior, the cold, calculating man who had dismantled three men in the woods. Then, his eyes dropped to my trembling hands, and something shifted. A grimace of pure frustration crossed his face. "Get in the locker," he hissed, shoving me toward a row of rusted iron cabinets. "What?" I stumbled completely confused, my shoes scuffing the stone. "Now!, Noel, Noella, get

  • Beyond Chosen: The Alpha's Fated Mate    Sparing with the twins

~Elvira~The rest of the morning passed in a blur of steam and panic. Every time I moved my wrist, I expected to hear the wooden beads shatter. I kept my hand submerged in the cold dishwater as much as possible, trying to numb the heat that was pulsing steadily from my skin. By the time Silas dismissed me, my nerves were frayed to nothing. I didn't head back to the Alpha’s wing. Instead, I ducked out the delivery entrance, following the directions Noel had whispered to me earlier. The Old Armory was a crumbling stone building on the far edge of the pack estate, half-swallowed and forgotten by the modern security patrols. As I pushed open the heavy wooden door, the scent of rusted iron and old hay hit me. "You're late. We almost started without you." Noella was hanging upside down from a wooden rafter, her white-blonde hair sweeping the floor. Noel was leaning against a stack of moth-eaten training mats, tossing a heavy leather ball between his hands. They both froze when
