Scarlett's pov

There was nothing I could say to convince them to stop. I could only watch in silence as they went into the security room and asked the officer in charge to show the tape.

As they began to film the footage, my heart pounded wildly in my chest. At least the recording of the first floor wasn't being viewed.

"Stop, we will watch it from here," my father told the officer.

Even though the room was cool, beads of sweat gathered on my forehead. It would be an understatement to say that I was nervous. I wished the ground would open up and engulf me. All I wanted to do was disappear. I glanced towards Gavin, who was also looking in my direction. Our eyes met. I knew that he too would be feeling apprehensive, but locking gazes with him gave me a feeling of fulfilment.

"It's going to be okay," he mind linked me.
