Scarlett's pov

It was an attack... an attack on us.

As I ran to the bathroom, washed my face, and scurried to locate something comfortable to wear, I kept repeating the mantra in my thoughts.

It was an eerie sensation. Once upon a time, I learned of the attack after it had already occurred. Even though Michael claimed to help me, by the time we got there, everything was already in shambles. There were corpses littered throughout the place. I felt sick to my stomach thinking about that dreadful day. Yet, I made an effort to maintain my composure.

I quickly grabbed a cotton tee and yoga pants from my closet and ran out of my room to follow Gavin. He decided to run with the other warriors towards the west. My father's scouts guarding the west coast reported the impending army's arrival to the locals. I had a feeling they were within striking distance of breaking through the defences.

At least my dad didn't delay sending warriors to guard that area.
