So Wrong But Feels So Right

Scarlett's pov

It's been two days since I rejected him. Doctors ruled out any potential illnesses and said I was in great shape. Gavin tried to hack into Georgette's phone but was unsuccessful. It made me wonder if I ought to make an effort to peek. The trouble was, I no longer wanted to be around her. I avoided her company in favour of hanging with the omegas or staying in my room.

For a while, I was relieved that my parents stopped bringing Michael up. As usual, life continued, but I couldn't help feeling uneasy about the future. The catch, though, was that they were expert liars. There was no hint of impending doom at all.

Someone knocked on the door.

"It's open."

A stout omega opened the door and offered a motherly smile.

"Ma'am, the alpha is asking for you," she said, trying to smoothen the creases of her apron as she spoke.

"Dad? Okay. Where is he?"

"In the conference room," she said.

I knitted my eyebrows together. The conference room? That sounded like a formal
