“What the...............” We heard Hudson gasping for breath as he first dropped the package that he was holding and caught his Sister with what were the reflexes of long practice, pulling her to him with obvious fierce affection and at the same time peering over her head at me.

“What's she doing here?” he demanded asking if I had planned the whole thing.

“You are asking me? How do I know this is the first time I've come to your house.” I wrote it on the pad hurriedly.

He moved Ellen away from him to look down into her eyes “What's going on Ellen?” he said and I was once more caught by the mixture of love and exasperation in his voice.
