LOGINHi, lovies. I'm sorry I haven't been able to update this book as often as I'd like to. I'll be able to give you daily updates after the 31st. But if you like drama, check out my title 'A Chubby Girls Need Love Too Collection '.
“I'm sorry?” I asked, not sure I’d heard him right.“There's an ongoing classified operation, Ms Hart. I can't discuss its details with you at this stage. What I can tell you is that we need someone with your professional background to gain access to certain information. Your previous association with Victor Hale and Ivanov's interest in hiring you make you a suitable candidate,” he muttered.I sat back slowly, trying to process what I'd just heard. “You want me to go undercover?”“I want you to consider assisting a federal investigation, yes.” He nodded on the last word.“That's a very fancy way of saying you want me to infiltrate a Russian mafia organisation.”He didn’t say anything. “Why me? Surely you have more experienced people for this sort of thing,” I said.“What we need is someone who can easily get in. We’ve tried a few candidates, but Ivanov doesn’t trust easily,” he admitted.I stared at him. “And you think he'll trust me? I met the man once. I barely had a conve
A couple of weeks had passed since I told Cass about the baby, and we were slowly finding our feet again. It wasn’t as though everything had magically fallen into place, but he hadn’t run off to join a monastery either, so I considered that progress. He’d started asking questions. Some were practical, like how far along I was and when my next appointment was. Others were downright ridiculous, like whether the baby could hear him if he talked to my stomach. I told him he could try, but I wasn’t making any promises about the baby finding his voice interesting. He’d also accompanied me to the pharmacy twice, insisted on carrying groceries I could easily manage myself, and developed an irritating habit of asking whether I’d eaten. I wasn’t complaining. Not entirely. We were also sleeping together every night. It wasn’t the same as before, but it was something. And he’d started remembering small things, mostly about his work, and the guys. I was still almost a blank slate. My relations
I considered going after him but decided against it after a while. Give the man the time he’d asked for. He was definitely not coming back for the next few weeks or so. And I wouldn’t even be surprised. It wasn’t like he was much for commitment when we first met. Maybe this was how we finally ended.I freshened up, got my shit together, and got ready to spend my Sunday at Brianna’s place. At least she’d drink and give me lots of shit, but she wouldn’t walk out on me. I headed for the living room, already thinking about what half-assed story I was going to give her. Then I stopped.Cass was sitting on the armrest of the couch, his elbows resting on his knees as he watched the hallway. His gaze landed on me the moment I appeared.I stared at him, my handbag hanging from my hand. What the hell? He’d been gone for barely twenty minutes, and I’d already mentally buried our relationship. Meanwhile, he was sitting in the living room like he’d been waiting for me. Which, judging by the way he
Sophia’s POVI woke up with Cass’s arm wrapped around my waist and his face buried against the back of my neck. I didn't move for a while. I was too busy enjoying the fact that we’d gone from barely sharing a room to sleeping in the same bed without either of us waking up in the middle of the night and regretting it. At least on my part.Okay, technically, he’d asked me to stay with him, and I’d agreed so quickly I was surprised I hadn't given myself whiplash. Still, I was here, tucked against his chest, and he hadn't kicked me out in his sleep. I was counting that as a win.I shifted carefully, intending to turn around and look at him, but his arm tightened around my waist.“Where are you going?” he asked sleepily.I froze, then slowly turned my head. “Nowhere. I was trying to turn around.”“Then turn around.”“You’re holding me hostage,” I whispered, biting my bottom lip.He loosened his hold enough for me to turn, and I settled facing him. His hair was a mess, his face still
Cass’s POVJohn had been talking for the last five minutes, and I was starting to regret handing Jax my beer.I needed something to drink while trying to drown out the headache I was getting every time Veronica opened her mouth beside him.“...and I told the boys we couldn't pass up the opportunity to come see how you were doing,” John continued, giving my shoulder another friendly squeeze. “Been too long, Cass.”I chuckled. “Not that long. Roman says we had a race not too long ago.”He nodded. “Yeah. It was a good one until your lady got taken.”I kept my expression easy. In my mind, it was still right around the time I got with Veronica after she had started coming to the clubhouse more looking for Mia. Now it seemed they were not as close. Nobody had gotten around to explaining why that was.But they had been so eager to tell me I was no longer with Vero.I nodded, not trusting myself to say anything about that particular subject. My head was already pounding, and I didn’t need anot
Sophia’s POVCass’s recovery cookout had turned into a whole family gathering, which made sense considering the number of people who’d spent the last few weeks worrying about him. All the Black Forge men were there with their women and the kids. Margaret was the designated cook as usual.Mia was the gossip monger, and there was enough food to feed an army. Garrett’s baby mama, Monty, was there too, keeping an eye on the little one while the older kids ran around like they’d been released from prison. It was too cute. I could imagine my baby being a part of it all.I was sitting at a table with Margaret, Mia, Brianna, Monica, and Alexis, holding a cold drink and pretending I wasn’t keeping track of where Cass was every few minutes. He’d been pulled into a conversation with the guys near the grill, and from the way Roman kept clapping him on the shoulder, I was guessing they were giving him a hard time about something.Mia leaned closer, lowering her voice just enough that the other
