The moment Lisa pushed the cafeteria doors open, a wave of loud chatter and laughter immediately filled my ears.

Students occupied almost every table inside the large cafeteria. Some were eating while others were gossiping loudly about classes, relationships, and the upcoming dean's speech.

The smell of fries, grilled chicken, and coffee floated through the air.

“Finally,” Lisa breathed dramatically. “I'm starving.”

“You're always starving,” I muttered.

She ignored my comment completely as she

  • Black Ridge Academy    The Dead Student

The same student we saw last night lying helplessly on the floor while those boys attacked him.A heavy silence settled inside my chest. For a moment, I could not even hear the whispers around me clearly anymore. My mind kept replaying his terrified expression from last night.A student from Class 3A was found dead early this morning behind the east dormitory building. The word alone made my stomach twist painfully.“Oh my God…” Lisa whispered shakily beside me.Students crowded around the notice board while rumors spread rapidly through the hallway.“They said he jumped.”“No way. I heard someone pushed him.”“Wasn't he involved in trouble recently?”“The school is already trying to cover it up.”I slowly stepped backward from the crowd, my breathing becoming uneven. Lisa immediately followed after me.“Zara…” she called softly.I looked at her. “We saw him last night.”Fear immediately crossed her face again. She quickly glanced around to make sure nobody heard me. “Lower your voice

I picked up my phone, turned on the flashlight and pointed it towards the door. Lisa was so scared that she held me tightly. I tried walking towards the door out of curiosity to know where the sound came from but Lisa dragged my hands fearfully.“Please Zara..don't go." She whispered.I had no reason to be scared. But the way Lisa held my hands made me have a second thought towards it. Lisa's hands trembled around mine. “Please don't open the door,” she whispered fearfully.I swallowed hard and pointed my flashlight toward the door. My heartbeat increased immediately when I saw a shadow underneath it.Someone was running abruptly and banged on our dorm door. It felt like the person was been chased.Lisa gasped softly. “Oh my God…”“Who is there?” I asked loudly. No response came. Another loud sound echoed.I flinched slightly. Lisa quickly pulled me backward.“Zara, stop!”But curiosity got the better of me. I slowly moved toward the door again and pressed my eyes against the peephole

  • Black Ridge Academy    The warning

I stood frozen in the hallway long after Adrian walked away. His last words kept replaying inside my head repeatedly.Black Ridge will destroy you. He said them like he was too sure. A cold shiver slowly crawled down my spine. What exactly was wrong with this school?I finally forced myself to move before heading outside the mansion. The cool night air hit my skin immediately, helping me breathe properly again.Students still crowded around the compound discussing the bloody message excitedly while others acted like nothing happened. It was honestly disturbing. How were they all so calm?“Zara!”I turned around quickly as Lisa ran toward me looking panicked.“Oh thank God,” she breathed. “I thought you disappeared.”I frowned slightly. “Why do you look so nervous?”“Because you were alone with Adrian!”“And?”Lisa stared at me like I had completely lost my mind.“And? Zara, do you even hear yourself?”I crossed my arms. “He only told me to go back to the dorm.”Lisa's expression slowl

  • Black Ridge Academy    The Message On The Floor

For a few seconds, nobody moved. The loud music had already stopped, leaving behind an eerie silence that made my chest tighten.Everyone stared at the message written across the white marble floor.SECRETS SHOULD STAY HIDDEN.A nervous murmur slowly spread through the mansion. “What the hell is that?”“Is this some kind of prank?”“That looks like blood…”My stomach twisted uneasily. Lisa grabbed my wrist tightly beside me. “Zara… I don't like this.”Neither did I.The dark red liquid spread slightly across the marble tiles while students backed away nervously. A few girls already looked terrified enough to cry. But the strangest thing was not the message itself. It was Adrian and Vanessa. Neither of them looked shocked. Vanessa simply folded her arms while scanning the room coldly. And Adrian looked angry. Almost like he already knew something like this would happen.I narrowed my eyes slightly. That alone made my heart race. Suddenly, one of the boys near the staircase laughed awkw

  • Black Ridge Academy    Black Ridge After Dark

The rest of the day went by faster than I expected. After lunch, the dean addressed everyone in the assembly hall about discipline, academic performance, and the school's upcoming events, but honestly, almost nobody paid attention.Students were far more interested in Adrian's party.Everywhere I turned, people kept discussing what they planned to wear, who they were going with, and whether Vanessa would make an appearance beside Adrian.By the time Lisa and I returned to the dormitory later that evening, my head already hurt from hearing the word party over a hundred times.Lisa threw herself dramatically onto her bed.“I seriously have nothing to wear.”I opened my locker calmly. “You said that three hours ago.”“Because it's still true!”I laughed softly while bringing out a simple black hoodie. Lisa immediately sat upright.“Absolutely not.”I blinked. “What?”“You are not wearing that to Adrian Black's party.”“Why not? It's comfortable.”“Comfortable?” Lisa looked horrified. “Za

Nice?” I scoffed softly. She gasped dramatically. “Wow. That hurt my feelings.” I laughed quietly, giggling so hard. Maybe things were fina
