1. Bad New Year's Eve

Elizabeth was annoyed that the computer at the outlet where she worked had been broken since this afternoon. She felt like she really wanted to chase away the customers who came because she was forced to make a replacement bill manually--aka handwritten, in duplicate--and that meant, she had to waste time on unnecessary things. So far, Beth has always been labeled as a troublemaker at her place of work, as if all problems will come when Beth's shift starts.

Beth has contacted operational management at the help center to ask for help so that one of the technical support staff comes to solve the computer problem at her outlet. But... because there are only a handful of staff working this New Year's Eve--plus the distance from the head office to the outlet where she works--no one is willing to be kind enough to come to help.

It seemed that Beth wanted to broke down the technical support management office.

Then while she was serving a confused customer, Mrs. Rene, the operations manager, called her, saying that Logan Bruggman, a handsome but annoying widower from the computer division, would come to her outlet within an hour.

'Logan? I heard he is also one of the high managerial team? But why he is the one who will come to the outlet?!'

Logan Bruggman. A strange name for a strange person. He was a Californian, but his parents named him Bruggman and Logan. And it made Beth burst out laughing when she saw his name tag for the first time at the head office. That strange man prefers to be called Logan than Bruggman. But . . . every time she said that strange name, Beth's tongue would slip and call her Burger. Yes, Burger, that's the man's nickname. There was nothing to do with Bruggman-Logan and burger, only Beth kept that name in her head.

For her behavior, she managed to make the man annoyed and angry with her, but--does she really care? After all, he worked at the head office and Beth at the branch.

Logan arrived exactly an hour after Mrs. Reese called Beth. That man came with an aura that made everyone inside this daily and cosmetic outlet fall silent and stare intently at the man. The man was wearing a light blue and navy blue work uniform, under a black leather jacket that wrapped his tall, well-built body. His hair cut short made him look younger than his thirty-five years, and he looked exactly like the most handsome delinquent on earth.

Wait, wait, Beth thought he was handsome too, but that didn't mean she was attracted to him. .o! Of course not! Because, she is used to being surrounded by tall, thick eyebrows, and super handsome men in her extended family.

Without permission and without greeting, the man went straight to the computer--which was completely dead--at the cash register, to check the damage. By doing that, he really pissed Beth off. It's not that he doesn't greet her or her co-workers at the outlet, but because he doesn't consider her as a host. Not polite! Yes, the man was indeed very rude, unlike the other technicians or employees who used visiting etiquette. Who is he??

Beth rushed over to Logan who was now deftly unplugging the cables from the CPU.

"Are you sure you can fix it? Be careful not to lose all the data."

"You shut up, don't bother me. You better serve the customers. I don't want to waste time because it's New Year's Eve. And I don't want to spend my new year doing over time like this," he said in an annoyed tone without even glancing at Beth...

Aaarrgghh, this guy! What animal can defeat Logan? Tiger? Ah, yes, Tiger! She will turn into a Tiger and then kill this Logan Bruggman! She would bite the back of his head, then—-

"Still here? There are buyers already in line."

"All right, Mr. Burger, excuse me," Beth said and quickly left. She knew Logan must be furious that she called him burger again.

Beth went back to writing a double replacement bill with her head about to burst. Little by little she glanced at Logan, who apparently managed to turn on the computer, copying the data to the flash drive before--boom--the outlet computer was completely turned off again. Saved by Logan! thought Beth was relieved.

The night is getting late when Logan is still struggling with the computer--he has installed a new CPU and scanner--he is currently synchronizing data after previously installing the outlet program. After the internet was set up, all of Beth's friends had gone home, and now it was the girl and Logan.

"Now, you check everything, including the scanner, printer, and fingerprint," Logan called as Beth was taking off her uniform coat.

Beth sighed, then walked over to him. Logan shifted too far, causing Beth to glare at him. Is she a germ? Or... Bad smell? Oh, why does she care? Beth pouted and started checking everything.

"It's okay. Mmm... thanks."

"Hmm." Logan grabbed his black leather jacket and quickly put it on. "Oh yeah...you...can you stop calling me burger? I have a nice name, Logan."

"Okay, sir. Happy new year," Beth tried to smile kindly at him, maybe because she was relieved that the computer at her outlet had been repaired, hopefully, her trouble maker nickname would be gone soon.

Logan nodded curtly. "I hope we don't see each other again."

Beth smiled widely. "I hope so too, Mr. Burger." Beth immediately covered her mouth, when she saw the glint in the man's black eyes.

The man approached and pushed Beth against the wall. "Once again you call me that, I won't hesitate to kiss you!"

Logan is known as a quiet man and a heartbreaker for women who have a crush on him. This man is a certified playboy, he accepts all women who come, then just dumps her after the women warm his bed.

"If you dare to kiss me, I'll bite your lip until it bleeds!" said Beth fiercely.

Logan's black eyes gleamed even more. "Hoo ..." his breath, which smelled of cigarettes mixed with mint, hit Beth's nose. "Okay, let's try it. Now, call me Burger."

"You're crazy! Go!" Beth pushed Logan's body, but the man didn't budge. Beth tried again, and the man still didn't budge. "Get away from me, you insolent!" Fear began to creep up her neck and back. In this outlet only the two of them were left, with the glass door closed and the rolling door almost closing, leaving a small gap. "You rotten burger!"

Logan smirked, then his lips quickly came closer and grazed Beth's lips, much to Beth's surprise.

Angrily, Beth bit the man's lips until she tasted the salty taste. Her eyes gleamed with anger and fear at Logan who was now grinning while licking his lips. The man's two hands were still pressing her hands beside her body.

"Bastard!"

"Don't ever mess with me!"

Before Beth could utter another curse, the ringing of the phone startled them.

Logan let go of Beth and took his cell phone from his pocket.

"Hello, honey, I'm sorry I had work. Okay, honey, I'll be home soon." His black eyes stared at Beth with fiery glares after he hung up the phone. "Happy new year, Beth," he said shortly before leaving, leaving her limp at the outlet alone.

Beth wiped her tears that had already flooded. "Son of a devil!" She screamed hard. Then with a feeling of anger that seemed to burn through her body, she began to copy the receipts into the computer. She will always remember the events on New Year's Eve that she spent with the annoying man number 1.
