Blood Awakening Chapter 6: Gotcha!

Blood Awakening Chapter 6: Gotcha!

Lily had left most of the chamber's cleaning to the omegas. Apparently, she won't waste time to do such given the fact that Lachlan's seemed to doubt their presence.

“I need to find Amari,” uttered Lily to herself.

Among few people who know about the ability of Maridelle's blood, it is Amari she can connect faster.

After she exited the chamber, few minutes of strolling, her feet found Maridelle in an anxious state walking on a secluded hallway.

“Hey, what happened? You're trembling.” Lily caresses Maridelle's face wrapped in sweats.

“Did the twins harmed you?” She knows the twins do not like their presence and if they want to have some fun, they would undoubtedly choose someone easy to pick.

“No...No. I bumped with Lachlan earlier in the hallway...” Maridelle said worriedly.

Lily's palms journeyed her own face. She is also feeling the anxiousness just by Lachlan's name getting mentioned. She might have mistakenly believed Lachlan took her reasons. How foolish she was! And now that he wanted to delve further, he might have gone to question Maridelle.

“Did you say something doubtful?”

“No. His hand got some wounds. I volunteered to dress it properly but his blood...I wanted to taste it. Aunt Lily, I am a nurse! That's my job. I cannot almost do it right when my hands are on his.” Maridelle's eyes are filled with tears.

Lily pitied her. All the running and hiding still delivered Maridelle to her inevitable fate—the fate Lily and Maridelle's parents is trying to avoid.

“I took the risk of bringing you here. I should have stashed you somewhere safe and return when I'm done with what I needed here.” She forced a smile on her lips. “I'm sorry Maridelle. You suffered because I failed in protecting you. Just for one night and it caused a lot of trouble.”

Suddenly Maridelle remembered something. “That one night. When you said I came home late and collapsed in front of you. I can't still remember things from that time.”

“You didn't come home. I'm sorry I lied.” Lily knew Maridelle got curious. But before she tells her what happened, Lily made sure no one else is in the vicinity. “I was afraid you would find a difficult time going home because of the heavy downpour so I decided to fetch you, but I found you unconscious on the street, lying and soaked in the rain. Then, I brought you home. The next morning you were complaining about that headache. And you know the rest of the story,” Lily explained almost in a whisper.

Seeing Maridelle's countenance, she know Maridelle wanted to hear more.

“There was someone who was there before me. I don't know who it was but one thing for sure that person started awakening your blood.”

“Why did it happen now? Why not years ago? How?” Maridelle has been perplexed by the circumstances and now that Lily is speaking about it, she decided to ask everything, to quench her confusions. Maybe it is the perfect time to untangle the knots.

“The tincture you used to drink when you were still young is mixed with a potion to stop your blood from turning you into who you are; the headaches are just side effects.” Guilt inhabited Lily's voice. She has witnessed how Maridelle endured the agony. “I'm still finding out the rest of the story.

“What?! You know how afraid I was. I suffered a lot because of it! Why do you have to make me suffer?!” she chided.

“I know. I'm so sorry, Mari. But everything is for you.”

Tears are cascading on Maridelle's cheeks. Unbelievable how sometimes protecting would resort to a greater detriment of the one you are trying to guard.

“Hey, pack your things. We'll be leaving here immediately. I just have to check few things and were out,” Lily assured her.

She was left alone on the hallway, sobbing. The influx of information seemed to drag her to the deepest of the trenches, suffocating her without any intention to let her breathe for a while.

Lily, no matter how hard it is for her to console Maridelle knowing it was her failure that brought her misery, is eaten by the urge to remain strong. All she have is her. Lily knew there will be more to deal when Maridelle's ability is revealed.

Lily perambulates towards Amari's private room.

“Come in, ” she heard after knocking on the door.

“Lily, what brought you here?” Amari is busy mixing liquids.

“Is what you're doing...is that what I had asked you?”

“Definitely....but still unfortunate. I am not able to stop Maridelle's blood from doing miracles.” Amari put the Erlenmeyer flask down.

“See this? This flower was originally white but when I put an amount of Mari's blood, it turned golden yellow. Decades passed and I still disappoint you, Lily.” Amari's feeling dejected.

“But I need that now. Earlier this morning, Lachlan called me to his chamber and questioned me. I guess he knows something or he is doubting us. We need to get out of here as soon as possible. I cannot do that without getting something from you.”

“But the dilemma is just too big for me to handle!” Amari shouted out of frustration. It was her who provided the tincture Maridelle used to drink; however, all it does is to stop her from turning into vampire or shifting into a wolf. Nevertheless, it still disappoints her to find her skills is not able to terminate the ability of Maridelle's blood.

“I'm sorry, Amari. I'm just so worried. I think someone consumed her blood that night. Perhaps a vampire. I saw holes on her neck. I'm afraid of the possibilities... it's a very big trouble.”

“Hey, Lily. We can solve this,” with a faint smile of assurance Amari said. “Fuck! Everything's messed-up if that's true. Did Maridelle knew about her blood?” Amari cannot contain her emotions towards the truth.

“No. The secret still remained to the few people who knew about it. However, Maridelle is close in knowing the truth.” She sighed. “What she knows is still limited to knowing she's biracial. I need to go.”

Lily hastily exited Amari's private room. She has decided. With or without a solution from Amari, she will escape with Maridelle. Though it will be safer to gain something that hides Maridelle's blood ability and it would certainly keep them from catching attention. She saw the broken glass at Lachlan's chamber. She was then asked questions. It must have been connected to them. The worst thing to broad is Lachlan is part of the alliance hunting Maridelle. They are in great danger. If it was not the need to meet Amari, they would not be here.

She went to see Maridelle on their room. Her command earlier was clear: pack your things. Maridelle is docile so probably she is doing what she was told.

“Beta Mellow, do you need something?” she asked noticing Mellow hovering on their room's door.

Mellow's back is leaning against the door of their room, hands on his pocket, legs crossed. Lily's feeling weird with it.

“Kinda.” He paused. “You seemed like you're in a hurry. Everything's alright, Lily?”

“Yes, I was just trying to find Maridelle. The twins are not liking her. I'm afraid they'll meet somewhere here and start to fight,” she excused.

“Oh, Maridelle. Your beautiful niece. She's not here.” Mellow smirked with arms crossed.

Lily doesn't feel the vibe of the conversation. “Perhaps, you've seen Mari?”

“Yes, I do. I know where she is.”

“Where?” Lily is feeling nervous. Mellow speaks as if something is going bad. The tone of his voice does not conceal such omen.

“With Alpha Lachlan.”

Lily's heart beats like a drum roll just like that. Crap!
