A council of fear

last update Last Updated: 2025-09-07 03:26:25

An assembly of twenty beings had gathered around the ancient table, a sight unseen for generations, perhaps even epochs. Many had been coaxed from their carefully curated hibernations, their ancient slumbers shattered by the chilling certainty of the Lord’s return. Their heirs and appointed proxies, accustomed to wielding power in their stead, now sat amongst their awakened sires and grand-sires, a palpable tension thrumming in the air like an impending storm.

These were creatures who had warred with each other for centuries, their grudges as old and deeply ingrained as the stone of the very room they occupied. Vampires, their aristocratic bearing radiating an aura of ancient power and cold indifference, sat stiffly, their crimson eyes scanning the room for any sign of treachery. Werewolves, their raw, untamed energy barely contained beneath a veneer of human civility, fidgeted restlessly, their senses on high alert, sniffing the air for any hint of danger.

  • Blood bound: The legacy of the blood king   Awakening of the Lord of darkness

The city was alive, buzzing with a chaotic mix of shattered pledges and forced smiles. Car horns blared everywhere, and it felt like a thousand voices were all blending into one big jumble of noise. Anyone could feel the bass from hidden clubs shaking the buildings around. But underneath all that everyday clamor, there was something deeper going on…a frantic, almost desperate energy that hinted at the supernatural lurking just beyond what could be seen. As twilight settled in, the sky took on a gentle beautiful glow. The city lights flickered to life for a moment, casting a little brightness on the dirty high-rises before they were swallowed back into darkness. Those buildings feel like they’re just standing watch, their once-shiny glass now worn and gloomy, showing off years of neglect. Those crumbling bricks were just hiding under fresh paint, and the rusty iron looked like it was hanging on for dear life. The windows were so grimy, they felt like they held onto all sorts of secrets

Riana's fingertips brushed against the cool surface of the coffin lid. The humming intensified, evolving into a deep thrum that reverberated in her chest. A gentle warmth radiated from the stone, coursing through her hand like a soft current. The air around the coffin shimmered gently. As her finger pressed firmly into the indentation, a wave of energy, rather than pain flowed through her. It felt strangely familiar, evoking the sensation she experienced when she was bitten. The puncture mark on her finger began to tingle. The carved symbols on the coffin lid seemed to glow faintly from within, their intricate lines pulsing with a soft inner light. The air grew thick and charged with an unseen energy. The musty scent of the cave intensified, now mixed with a metallic sweetness that she had detected earlier, creating a tingle in her nostrils. Suddenly, the stone beneath her feet vibrated more intensely. From the coffin emerged a deep groan, a sound that spoke of ancient age and the sti

The low grinding noise grew louder, a deep rumble that shook the stone floor and vibrated up Riana’s legs. Dust, disturbed after being still for centuries, fell in tiny particles around her. She caught her breath, momentarily forgetting the pain from her bitten finger. The massive door, which looked impossibly heavy, was indeed shifting. A thin crack formed along one edge and slowly widened.Riana observed all of this with a mix of fear and excitement battling inside her. Something had triggered the mechanism, but had it been her? Or was it the bite? That thought sent another chill down her spine. She could only hope that the door opened by pushing something within the hole, and that she, in sacrificing her finger, had triggered this action. The gap continued to expand, revealing a sliver of complete darkness beyond. The scraping noise persisted, a slow creak of ancient stone against stone. She pressed her injured hand against her chest, her eyes glued to the expanding opening. The da

A strange numbness washed over Riana. Nichole, her shadow for many years was… gone. Just like that. One moment taunting her from above, the next, devoured by the mountain. She hung there, frozen her mind was struggling to grasp the sudden finality, just like that? The wind whipped around her, carrying the faint, chilling sound of Nichole's last cry. Her hands trembled, not only from the difficult climb but from the sheer shock of what she'd witnessed. The rope, Nichole's rope. Riana’s eyes fixed on it, a brightly colored cord snaking down the rock face from its secure anchor. She moved closer, studying the knot. It was Secured, quite perfectly even. The kind of knot Nichole, a climber of considerable skill who was taughthow to climb mountain from the tender age of five, would tie without thinking. Then how? She had her rope tied, so how did she fall? The questions ran in Riana’s mind, a seed of dread blooming amidst the disbelief. This mountain guarded its secrets closely, and today,

  • Blood bound: The legacy of the blood king   Nichole has fallen

Desperate to end her ordeal, Riana planted her foot, taking a risk on a patch of loose rock. She was exhausted all she longed for was to return to camp and have Sila drive her home. But then…, she slipped, sliding downwards with a sickening lurch. She frantically searched for something to grab anything to save her from falling further. The rope finally got hooked, biting into her harness. Pain exploded in her left shoulder, a searing fire that stole her breath. Blood blossomed staining the rock red. Panting and swaying in the wind, Riana closed her eyes against a wave of nausea. The mountain proved to be a very hard challenge, she has never experienced anything like it. When one looks at this mountain, it looked like just any ordinary mountain. But it was way different it was smooth on the surface and as you climb the rocks crack and chip. Riana could feel the biting wind blowing at her ponytail drying the sweat from her whole body. That’s when she really felt it… a warm hum that w
