I laid him to rest next to our mother’s grave, so no one would disturb his peace. “I won’t let them get away with this, Jake.” I removed the diamond ring from my ring finger and set it down at the base of Jake’s headstone. On my life, I swore to make Joey and Anna pay for what they had done. For the next five days, I focused on Jake’s burial, not once stepping back into the manor. I was faced with Joey’s questioning when I dragged myself back home. “Where have you been? Do you know how worried Anna and I have been? “Give Anna a call right now and admit your mistake.
