The manor sat cloaked in moonlight with its tall spires jagged. Inside, silence ruled—save for the soft drip, drip of candle wax and the steady inhale of an ancient predator.

Lucien's eyes snapped open.

Something... alive in a way blood hadn't been for centuries.

He inhaled again, deeper this time, letting the scent flood his dead lungs.

Blood. But not like any he'd tasted these past few days.

It carried notes of petrichor and fire—like rainfall sizzling against hot stone. Sweet, but powerful. Innocent, but riotous. It ignited every nerve in his body like lightning crawling beneath skin.

Lucien stood, slow and deliberate. A tremor pulsed beneath the marble floor, awakened by his sudden hunger.

Nova rose up from her cage as she could see the figure approaching her. It was Freya. "What brings the Almighty Luna to such a dirty place?" She asked in a trembling voice with barely contained rage. Freya slammed her fist against the wall believing that Nova was mocking her. She wasn't Luna and the specifications of her bond with Damien forbid her from claiming one. She would have aimed for her face if not that she had been instructed to stay away from Nova. Nothing seemed to be going her way these days and even the little respect Damien had for her before had vanished since after the mating ceremony. "What's wrong?" Nova asked, staring at her mockingly from head to toe. She had once overheard the guards talking about how she became an Alpha all of a sudden. And then how Damien had announced before everyone that she wouldn't become the Luna of his pack since she was already an Alpha. She had been overjoyed by the news when she heard it. The Almighty Freya? Being embarrassed th

She was the only breeder to have one, others simply didn't appeal to Lucien or after having them, he has sucked life out of them.. she was the only exception. Things were looking bleak and she couldn't ascertain the future. Right now it looked much more like a load of uncertainty. But what could she do, she was merely a consort, who wasn't even favored on some days and sometimes months whenever Lucien failed to see her worthy of his presence. She finally headed to her door and left from there, walking out of her hallway and about to enter the hallway that led to Lucien's chambers when suddenly she was stopped by the sentinels on duty. "The King requested that no one be left to disturb him" one announced to her. She ignored and tried forcing her way through but was

Stormrider lingered at the doorway, eyes quietly tracing Lucien's expression, searching for a clue—anything that might betray what he was feeling. His gaze swept over his features, catching the twitch of a jaw, the tightness around his eyes—signs of unrest he didn’t voice. He didn't want to announce himself or to call him off of his trance. But instead, he stood glued to the spot, reading the weariness in his shoulders and the storm tucked behind his eyes.Perhaps the number of forces coming against him which he had told him about before had made him feel uneasy. "What happened?" Freya asked her friend, Nia, on noticing her walk to her lair, face expressionless. Nia didn't know how to explain what she had just encountered.. She was used to it, but she wasn't supposed to anymore because Freya had elevated her rank, but instead of honoring that, Damien's soldiers didn't look as if they cared. "I followed Skylar like you had asked me to" she began, narrating her experience to Freya. She had signaled her to trail her while she took her place at Damien's lair, just where Skylar had wanted to f for whatever it was she had wanted to discuss with him. Nia had followed her to find out where she would go next or if she would discuss something with anyone. All was going well and she had been trailing her successfully, till she passed the dungeons doors and reached the healers lair, but that was when the issue began. One of the guards had stopped her from entering. "Only the Alpha's children are allowed inside the healers lair" one had said, turni

While walking out of Damien's lair and back to hers, Skylar crossed the road that led to the dungeon. To tell her or not to? She contemplated. Someone needed to know what she had heard the previous night as well.. And Nova had all right to know. Afterall, she was directly involved in Freya's conspiracy. "What will she be able to do even if I were to tell her?" She muttered to herself. And this statement stoped he from moving inside like she had planned. Truly, there was nothing Nova could do and even if she were to inform her, it would only make matters worse if she were to throw a tantrum on finding out what had happened. So she walked pass it and headed towards the healers place, where her father was. And where she could find solace in the midst of all problems surrounding her. At the lair and when she has reached, her conscience was judging her. She was committing an offense by not telling Nova what had happened to her child, or the the fact bag she didn't even know that she

Skylar felt restless through out the night after the occurrences that had played in the day. Her father muttering Freya's name right before he dizzied off still replayed in her head. She suspected her. Not just because it was the first thing her father said, that only raised the stakes of her feelings since the day Freya had come to the pack house. What made it even odder was the fact that the healer had mentioned that the Alpha's tongue had been cut off by whoever it was that had attacked him. But when where he was found in had been searched again, no one found his tongue lying anywhere in the cave. It disappeared. Not even the fact that it was searched for the same day he had been found could change the stakes of it. Everything felt off. She turned from one side of her bed to the other, consumed with thoughts and unable to sleep. When she felt the most tired, she stood up and walked outside of her lair to gaze at the full moon. She needed the tranquility it brought her espec
