Chapter 7

Kate stormed into their home with fury etched all over her face. Without any word, she kept on dragging Nova by her arms till they reached the dimly lit living room of their old, creaky house.

Nova stumbled and fell to the floor, not shocked by her grandmother's sudden outburst, it has become a familiar scene. One that replayed too often in their strained relationship.

She had witnessed it most times. This scene was always familiar to her, she had grown with it for years and had gotten used to it. Atleast the scars on most parts of her body were testaments of it. It wasn't the first time. In the past when her face etched with this kind of fury, Nova always wondered if she were truly her grandmother or if she was adopted because the punishment's she gave her then made her always want to run away from her.

"Why can't you ever do anything right?!!" Kate's voice was sharp, cutting through the silence like a blade.

Nova remained silent, her gaze fixed on the floorboards beneath her feet.

She knew better than to engage, to try and reason with the storm that raged within her grandmother.

She would see it as her insolence and give her the punishment of rebellion, like she always put it as. She didn't want that now. Atleast not now that intriguing occasions seemed to be coming her way.

"You are a disappointment Nova!! You are a very big disappointment! You're everything that went wrong!! You're the cause of it all!!!"

Tears welled up in Nova's eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She had learnt earlier on that showing vulnerability only fueled her grandmother's anger further.

"I'm sorry" she could manage to whisper. She knew truly well that it was futile and useless but she still said it anyway.

"Sorry isn't good enough!! You are not good enough!!" Kate's voice thundered.

" You are derailing from everything I have taught you! You are derailing! How dare you keep that human? I told you friends are not needed. I told you humans are not needed. I told you feelings were not needed!! How dare you?!! How dare you try to betray everything?

Nova remained mute. She did not know what to say not do. She thought of nothing as well fearing that her grandmother might read her mind to discover that she was thinking about a stranger. A stranger she was sure if she knew about, she'd try her best to kill him as well. Lucas might be good as dead by now she thought.

With a flick of her fingers, Kate threw the mug cup on the table at Nova.

Nova saw it coming early and dodged it.

She threw another and Nova dodged it as well.

She made two go at her at the same time and was surprised at how Nova dodged then immediately without getting hit again.

Something was wrong she thought.

Something was definitely wrong.

Nova could not have been able to read her thoughts she thought. She could but she had concealed her heart from being seen, so Nova couldn't have known that she planned to throw two mug cups at her at the same time for her to have dodged them.

She cast a spell and threw another at the speed of light but Nova was still able to dodge it.

Her anger grew. She made all the dimly lit lights go off and threw another but this time she heard it crash. When she made the lights come up again, she saw Nova on the floor. The mug had hit her forehead and the impact of it had made her faint.

The realization hit Kate. Despite all the years she had spent feeding Nova with Wolfsbane to expell her werewolf features an abilities, her granddaughter was slowly transitioning into a wolf.

The speed at which she dodged the cups she threw at her confirmed it.

But it seemed it was only the speed she had acquired as she was unable to see in the dark when she had lit the lights off.

Kate resolved to expell all and any wolflike features remaining inside Nova before her Eighteenth birthday. It was at Eighteen that werewolves wolfed out and she did not want that to happen.

If she wolfed out, the others would come looking for her for her to join their pack, and she, did not want Nova to have anything to do with the Wolves, apart from avenging her daughter's death.

She decided to punish her. Most Wolfe's hated punishments and most of their spirits ran away from them if they were punished beyond their breaking point.

This time she had a different plan, she won't give her the known punishment or isolation she had given her for the last days, this time she had a different plan.

Kate made a cage using we spells. She put Nova inside of it and took her to the backyard of the house. She dropped her under the path that has no shade, she wanted her to be directly under the moon any time it would come up completed.

She went back into the house and came out with jars

She began to spray it on Nova. It was wolfsbane, silver and madrid roots.

All she knew that were used to kill or expell werewolves.

She did not care If Nova died from them, her only concerns were expelling her wolf heritage.

All of her body were covered with them, and she laid helplessly in the cage, still unconscious due to the hit she had sustained from the mug, bleeding profusely from her forehead.

The Vampire Prince, reclining onto his bed in the dimly lit chamber felt pangs of hunger stir within him as a familiar scent of blood filled the air.

It was a scent he has encountered before, a taste that lingered on his tongue but despite his heightened senses, he could not pinpoint where the aroma came from.

Frustration simmered within him. His cool was taken as he prowled through the castle corridors with his keen eyes scanning every nook and cranny searching for the elusive blood.

He left the castle and went down across the bushes searching for the blood that was calling him. It was driving him crazy and filling himself from it was all he cared about at the instant.

It was maddening him, the insatiable thirst for the blood he wanted that he couldn't find. His hunger for it touched his very cores.

He longed for that unique taste and did not give up on finding it.

The night wore on but he was still searching for it. Even though his visions had been increased because it was late at night now, he still could not see where the scent of the blood came from.

He grew tired from roaming the streets like a mad man and with cars that horned at him while he stood on the path made him give up and turn back to return back to his Castle from the human realm he has entered.

Turning to his path, he saw humans and those who saw him in his regal form ran away.

His teeth were sharp and white as snow. They needed no one telling them that he was a stranger as they all knew their evil sides and what they seemed when they were in their regal form.

He caught one of the females as she tried to run away.

He leaned down towards her and pressed his lips on her pale neck and savoured the taste of her blood, even though it was not the scent or taste he had craved.

He watched her fall to the ground.

Her friend stood in horror of what had happened to her friend, screaming and forgetting to run for her own life like the others had.

She watched as he took her too. She watched as he pressed his lips against her neck. She watched herself struggle to breath as she felt no fluids within her. She regretted why she had left home to go clubbing late at night. Perhaps if she has turned her friend down and obeyed her parents, this wouldn't have been her fate.

He heard the distant sound of men shouting. Their shouts echoing in the dead of the night. He knew them well enough. They were demon hunters.

Every creature of the night were early of them because they spent their lives in training how to kill all demons fighting against humans.

He was in their land, he has trespassed their land. Victory was not sure for him if he fought with them in their land.

With a swift and whirl motion, he whirled around in a circular dance and disappeared.
