“I’m guessing you haven’t had breakfast yet,” he said sounding like he wasn’t the cause of it
“How terrible of a host I’ve been,” He gave her a small smile and then stood up from his seat and walked towards the door. Rain got up as well, it would be weird if she were the only person left in his study.“Let’s head to the kitchen and see if we can get some food in your stomach,”Rain was hesitant but she followed him either ways. Something about the man and the way he was acting unnerved her, maybe it was because she expected to be man handled or held at gun point every step of the way but instead he was being nice or rather, he was acting nice.Rain knew better than to fall for that façade of his. From the moment she first set eyes on him, she knew he was dangerous and she’d be damned if she let her guard down just because of the most sexiest smile she had ever seen. The man was tall, she thought as she admired his back view. His ass looked good in those pants as well. If it were in another situation she would’ve probably asked him out, to have casual sex and then dump him afterwards but still, he looked like a man that could hold her interest unlike others.“Like what you see?” he didn’t have to turn around to know that she was staring intently at his back. That was one heck of a skill.“Very much, yes.” Rain replied and heard him chuckle in amusement. The kitchen wasn’t very far from the living area where she had almost lost her life but it was a long walk, she couldn’t help but wonder how he could live comfortably in such a big house that required so much effort just to get to the kitchen. The kitchen was big, the kind of kitchen she only saw in TV shows. It was beautiful, she loved the ceramic walls and the designs on them. It must’ve cost a fortune to design the kitchen, not to talk of the entire house.“What would you like to eat?”“ Me?” his question put her on high alert. He was standing behind the kitchen counter looking like he had plans to cook by himself. If was quite a sight, Rain couldn’t recall the last time she’d seen a man as sexy as Alexander in a kitchen. Then she thought back to his question. He first humored her, had a normal conversation with her, smiled at her and now he wanted to make her breakfast?Something was definitely wrong…this wasn’t one of her novels where the leader of a gang would all nice and loving to the female lead. This was real life and there was a possibility that his next move was to drug her up and find a room to stash her in so that the actual torture would begin.“Why do you always look so cautious like a mouse yet your mouth is anything but,” he let out a dark chuckle as he opened the drawer in front of him and took out a box of cereal, then he walked to the fridge and brought out a jug of milk and set it in front of her.“I couldn’t have possibly poisoned the cereal because it hasn’t been opened yet, and I have not poisoned the milk either,” he sat down opposite her and gave her a bowl and spoon.“I…”“I won’t hurt you as long you follow my instructions and don’t do anything stupid and as long as your brother doesn’t pull any stupid shit with me again,”Though Rain wanted to deny it, that faint accent did things to her…she blinked and tried to regain her focus. She nodded.Sure she would do whatever he asked her to as long as he doesn’t cross his limits, heck! She wouldn’t even say a word until he asked her too as long as she doesn’t shot in the face.“Xander,”It was Romeo again, for the first time since she’d met him, he looked tense. He gave Alexander some kind of look that she didn’t understand but he seemed to because he turned to look at her with a glare and clenched jaw.His eyes turned cold.“Finish your breakfast,” he said and then he left the kitchen with Romeo.Rain didn’t know how tensed her muscles were till she could no longer feel his presence. She let out a sigh of relief as she ate. She stared down at the bowl of cereal and sighed. She was relieved but yet at the same time, her heart pounded hard in her chest. She silently wondered what all of that was about. It didn’t look good and she just hoped that it had nothing to do with her.Once she was done with her food, she rinsed the bowl and spoon and returned everything back to where she saw him take them out of.He walked into the kitchen not long after with a grim expression on his face.Rain was rooted to the spot because all of that disdain and all of that anger, she felt like it was directed to—“I suspected that this would happen but I didn’t think your brother would be so stupid!”Her heart dropped. What happened again? She thought everything was already settled? What in the world has her stupid brother done again? She subconsciously took two steps back seeing as Alexander came closer. This wasn’t the man she met a few hours ago. He was someone different, something different. Her back hit the fridge and she felt like a mouse trapped in the claws of a cat.“I gave the fucker a chance...A chance to redeem himself but, he’s not getting that anymore and now I’m going to do with you as I please!”“I—”Rain’s words were cut short as his fingers wrapped around her throat and squeezed. She couldn’t breathe. Her eyes widened and bulged out in fear and she tried to pull his hand away from her neck but he wouldn’t budge, he just stood there, squeezing the life out of her with blood lust practically oozing out of his eyes.He was enjoying it, she realized to her horror.“P-l-lease...” she choked out as her vision became blurry and her chest burned so much from the lack of air.Just when she thought she couldn’t handle it, he loosened his grip and let go.She fell to the floor, her body had lost all of its strength. She didn’t cough, this wasn’t her first rodeo. Instead she tried to force air back into her lungs slowly just so she wouldn’t choke.“Your brother was spotted at an airport not far from here, he got on a flight to Africa,”“Why would he—”“ Because he’s a fucking coward!” Alexander spat out. Rain flinched as she heard his loud voice, she was still reeling in from the words he had just said.Nicholas boarded a plane flying to Africa…He left her here.He left like a dog with it’s tail in between it’s legs. Then what would become of her?Her brother abandoned her, again. She held back her tears, she refused to cry because of it. This wasn’t the first time, she should’ve been used to it by now as it was something that has been happening since they both were born but yet, it felt like her heart was breaking into pieces.Alexander pulled her up by her hair, brought her face to his and smirked.“Your brother doesn’t know who he’s messing with,”He wasn’t bragging, that much Rain knew. Nicholas was stupid enough to upset such a man the first time and now he had done it again only this time, she was the person left the take the fall and the burns that would come after. He held her hair in a tight grip. She looked up at him with teary eyes…not because of the betrayal but because of the memories that plagued her from that action...It was like she was reliving it all over again. She wanted to scream but all she could do was plead.“Please, just let go,” a tear slid down her cheek “I’ll do anything...”Anything to make him stop. His brows furrowed and he let go of her hair rather roughly.“Aldo,” He called out.“Si Capo!”There was someone standing behind him and Rain only noticed the man after he’d answered Alexander.“Take her to the cabin and don’t let her out until I say otherwise,”A prisoner, that was what she was going to be.“Understood?”Aldo was a man with a large build and gentle face and voice, he gave her a look of pity but Rain didn’t fall for it, these men weren’t human…they couldn’t feel sorry or pity for a person. He walked to where she sat in her pathetic state and carried her in his arms.Everything had happened so fast. One second Alexander was making breakfast for her and the next second he was pinning her to the fridge and choking her.She looked at him one last time but he refused to meet her eyes. She didn’t struggle in Aldo’s arms as he carried her instead she closed her eyes and started planning…Hey, thanks for coming on this journey with me. The story officially starts now mmmmuhahahahahahahaa!!
Rain couldn’t sleep a wink after Aldo left her in the cabin. When she’d first heard the word cabin, she half expected it to be a building deep inside of the woods but it was not. She saw what the outside of the mansion looked like for the first time and it just as magnificent as the interior, the building was ages old but didn’t lose its beauty, it was practically alive, an art…a piece of amazing architecture that she was sure had lasted decades if not longer. “It has been the Guerriero family home for as long as I can remember, generations were born here and great men were raised in this house,” Aldo had said along the way. He wasn’t nearly as quiet as she had expected him to be instead he acted like he knew her…he was the only person that seems normal in the mansion. There was acres and acres of land spread out in front and back of the mansion and it made Rain wonder if she even had a chance to escape. She didn’t really give him a reply. They passed by a few menacing looking men
There was no way for Rain to tell what time it was but she knew that the time the door was finally opened next was very early in the morning. She half expected it to be Aldo and another part of her that she wished was wrong expected it to be Alexander. It was neither of them.It was a woman she had never seen before, she was petite, had a head full of grey hair, she looked to be in her late fifties or maybe early sixties but she looked energetic and she had a natural scowl on her lips like she was angry at Rain, or maybe the world?. She was dressed in a flower patterned dress but Rain could bet her ass that there was nothing flowery about the woman, judging from her expression. She walked into the cabin, dragging two bags behind her. One was hers, the one she had left and didn’t bother to unpack and the second was one she couldn’t recognize but it was bigger than her own luggage. Rain stood up as quickly as she could, already on high alert as she knew the woman was approaching h
Rain smiled hearing the woman’s words.“I agree,” She said, Elisa gave her a strange look from the mirror before she put down the towel. Elisa then opened the other luggage she had brought and pulled out a hair dryer and a few other things she knew she’d need right after having a shower. She had been washing her hair with the rose scented soap that she’d found in the bathroom because there was no shampoo and she had no other choice. They weren’t her own skin or hair products but Rain was thankful for them as she saw them being placed down one by one on the foldable vanity table in front of her. She had decided while she was packing that she would go to a store first thing and buy all of her products about she wasn’t even given the chance to do that either.“This stays down,” Elisa pointed at the table. Of course, she bit her tongue and kept her mouth shut, she was so close to saying ‘yes ma’am’ again.Rain sat there for almost forty minutes if not more in complete silence a
She didn’t look scared after he’d finally spoke to her, no, he she looked surprised but soon the expression was off her face and replaced with the look he now knew was her natural mask. She liked to look like it was just another normal day for her or rather she wanted it to seem like she didn’t care that she was trapped in this mansion and that he practically owned her now. She smiled at him, again. That fucking smile! Luigi walked up to her with a silly grin on his face, he wished he could’ve said he missed Romeo but the both of them were practically the same thing, smiling only when they saw pretty women, a weakness that he swore to never have or rather, a weakness that was beaten out of him. Women, men, they were all the same to him, all that should matter is to keep the family business thriving and the Guerriero legacy alive and still at the top. She, and her stupid brother Nicholas were trying to ruin that, but they would not! He would use her to make an example to his men
Rain couldn’t mask her awe when she’d walked into the restaurant. It was beautiful… that was the only word she could think of at that moment. The place wasn’t designed to look luxurious or fancy, the interior was designed to look like something straight out of the Victorian era . It was bright, there were the brightest bulbs kept in lamps, they brightened up the whole place and made it feel like a different world entirely. “It’s beautiful,” she couldn’t help but say. She didn’t pay attention to Alexander, he was silent but her arms in his were a constant reminder to keep walking. His scent assailed her nostrils momentarily distracting her from the beauty of the place she was in. He smelled of roses...It was a scent that was all over the cabin, a fleeting thought crossed her mind and her heart fluttered at the thought. Was it his home? Of course not. Why would he live in the cabin when he owned the entire mansion that she was sure had more room than she could count? Alexander to
“I saw the woman running out of the restaurant Don, should I call the men to get her?” Alexander was still staring at Pietro with a wide smile on his face, he enjoyed just how drenched in sweat the man was but not the stench that came with it though. Pietro’s uninjured hand shook, he held the pen in his hand but still hesitated. Despite the fact that his cheeks were wet with tears and his eyes were wide with fear. Alexander had to commend the bastard. He had heart…maybe a false courage but that wouldn’t be a problem, he would break him down, piece by piece…he had all the time in the world. “You don’t want to?” He told rather than ask Pietro. Pietro coughed and groaned in pain, then he shook his head…cute. “Leave her to enjoy the streets a Al little…it’s always better to see their eyes when their hopes have been crushed no?” He’d finally given an answer to Enzo, the man nodded and took a few steps back, his hands behind his back as he patiently waited for his boss to be done. “Now
Another fucking threat. Rain thought as she towel dried her hair and tried hard to ignore the fact that she had the said towel in a death grip. She was back in the cabin. After Alexander had threatened her, he hadn’t said another word to her and she was left there staring at his bloodstained face and suit which he seemed to enjoy and didn’t bother to clean. Once they arrived at the mansion, he told the man who had been following him around from the restaurant to take her to the cabin. Not even a word to her, not even a fucking apology for attempting to give her over to a man she didn’t know as payment! Much less a disgusting bastard like Pietro! Rain was angry, it took all of her will power not to march to that mansion and give him a piece of her mind. He should’ve been thankful she didn’t report him to the cops, instead he threatened her?! “That son of a bitch!” she growled. “That I agree with you on,” Elisa replied, startling Rain who didn’t even hear the woman come in. “You
Rain stared dumbly at the patch of grass that peaked through the open door. She stared…and then took two steps forward. What was she supposed to do? She wasn’t sure she would get this opportunity again. To walk out that door, to leave, to find her way out of here. Rain inhaled deeply and she opened the door completely, she walked out of the cabin. Fresh fucking air! Rain breathed in the scent of the roses deeply, she was outside, finally. She looked around, there was no one sight, not a single soul here to tell her to get back into the cabin or to shoot her in the head for disobeying orders. Rain walked, she could vaguely remember the path her and Elisa had followed to the mansion. And then what? The question crossed her mind. Was she going to walk into the mansion or try to sneak of the goddamn property! Her heart began to pound hard against her ribcage. She could sneak out, she could hide in the shadows until she was out of there. And then what? Then she’d go to an embas
