nobody dares to intervene

He left after saying that and went about doing his thing.

I watched him with confusion as he left but could still not understand why he said all that he did.

I shook my head and let out a tired sigh before looking down at my table. On it laid more than twelve empty shot glasses.

I heaved a sigh once more and decided that I’d truly had more than enough alcohol in my system.

My first attempt to stand had me falling back on my seat and I let out a drunken laugh.

I tried standing up again but this time slowly and with the help of using the table to support me.

I had not taken more than two steps when my line of view was blocked by a body.

At first, I thought it was the bartender that came back to help me and said before raising my head, “you don’t have to help me. I got this.”

But when I raised my head to look at him, it turned out to be a different person.

“Oh, sorry I thought you were someone else,” I said and took a step backward, putting space between us.

Not caring why this person suddenly came before me, I side-stepped him before saying, “Excuse me.”

As soon as I took a step forward, another body blocked my way.

Startled, I quickly took unstable steps backward and in the process tripped, thereby hitting my waist against the table behind me.

“What the hell!!!” I exclaimed angrily and held my throbbing waist.

“Didn’t you see me? What was that for? Who the hell are you?” I glared and cursed at this two wishing my gaze could do them some harm.

“Excuse our manners miss but we saw that you’ve had more than enough drinks in you and since that’s the case, we are here to escort you out.” The first guy that blocked my path replied.

“Oh… I see… but there is no need for that. I can see myself out.” I said still angry at their rude way of approaching me and tried to sidestep them again.

I hadn’t even taken a step forward before my arm was held tightly. I looked at the hand that held me and traced it to the owner.

When I saw that it was still the second guy who rudely stepped in front of me and almost injured me just now, I couldn’t hold it in any longer and slapped his hand away from my arm, ready to give him a mouth full of my mind.

Before I could say anything, the first guy interrupted me, “Miss we insist you come along with us to avoid needless attention.” He sternly said leaving no room for argument.

What the hell!!! Am I being forced to follow them against my wish? Who are these people again? I’ve made it clear that I have no intention of going anywhere with them. So why are they trying to force me to do so?

“Well, I’ve made it clear to you guys that I can find my way out myself. Who are you to insist your wish on me? If you don’t get out of my way right now, I will call the security on you.” I warned them and tried to walk passed them.

“I wouldn’t waste my breath if I were you because look around, nobody dares to intervene here. Well, except if they want to court death, they will.”

Fear gripped my heart at his words and the little remnant of alcohol in my system vanished as I turn to look around the bar and saw that everyone present was pretending not to notice what is going on at my table.

Even the ones close by, like the next table and the next two were pretending to see or notice anything.

What even baffled and made me realize the situation I was in, was that when my eyes landed on those on the next table, they averted their eyes away from mine the minute our eyes made contact and as though that wasn’t enough, they all got up and went to another table far away from mine.

Then the bartender’s words clicked in me. This was what he was trying to warn me about and I didn’t listen.

From the way he sounded and his words, this wasn’t the first time. Particularly, if I’m not incorrect, it’s a common thing around here.

Strange guys like these, walk up to a drunken lady that’s without a companion and forces her away with them to God’s knows where.

Feeling helpless and not knowing how to get them to leave me alone, I looked towards the bar, where the bartender was currently attending to one of his clients in hope that he would feel my gaze on him but unfortunately for me, when he did notice my gaze and looked towards me, he immediately averted his gaze from mine and also pretended to have not seen anything unusual happening.

Seeing as no one here was going to come to my aid, I tried thinking of what to do and could only come to a conclusion, which was to go along with them of my own free will and try to come up with an escape plan while at that.

How to go about the plan? I had no idea, but one thing I’m certain of is that I will come up with one.

“Alright, I will go with you.” I heaved out calmly.

They both parted ways for me to walk ahead of them and out of the bar. I know that even though they allowed me to walk ahead of them, there was no way they could easily leave an escape for me.

I’m sure that before they approached me, they would have done the necessary preparation and since this wasn’t the first time they’ve done this, they would have had some experience of their victims trying to escape on the way out and would not make it easy for me to do such thing.

Despite knowing that, I still try to devise a plan on how to escape these two.

I suddenly came to a stop as I remembered something and an idea came to my mind.

“You know I came here with someone and he only excused himself to use the restroom. If he should come back and saw me gone, he would raise an alarm and contact the police because he knows that I’m not the kind that disappears or leave without notice.”  I turned to say to them.

“Hehe, miss do take us for a fool?  We know you came here alone. From the moment you stepped into De Retroville, we saw you walked in alone and had monitored you since then. So miss let’s just go without you coming up with a way to escape us. One thing I can assure you is that it will end badly for you if you try to.” The second guy spoke for the first time.

I eyed him annoyingly not in the slightest bit happy to hear his voice. He should have just stayed mute. Hearing him got me so irritating that I didn’t say anything to rebuff him and just turned and started walking ahead of them angrily.

I know I should be scared right now since now it’s been confirmed that I was targeted from the onset but my anger at the moment was so consuming that it left no space for me to be scared.

I came out of the bar and turned once more in their direction to ask which direction to go since I was walking ahead of them.

When I heard no response from them, I looked behind me, only to see them looking at me strangely.

Not sure why they were looking at me that way, but seeing their expression got me irritated the more and I blurted “What” out in annoyance.

“You know you are one strange human. Those before you were either crying or scared of what’s to become of them but you are different. You neither show that you are scared nor are you crying. Instead, it’s the opposite.” The first guy shook his head and said before walking ahead of me.

“Well too bad you won’t be this way when you get to know what’s going to be of you.” The other guy snickered before pushing me to continue walking.

Truth be told, I’m scared out of my wit at the moment, why wouldn’t I be scared when I have no idea about what they want from me, and according to their words, it’s not going to be good, but I had to pretend as though I wasn’t because I don’t want to give them the joy of seeing me that way.

Besides it was my wish to get myself drunk that landed me in this situation in the first place so I have no choice but to buckle up all my emotions and find a way out to save myself.

The instant we walked out through the door separating the bar from the rest of the resort, we bumped into someone.
