LOGINThe car drove forward up a windy road. I looked ahead and saw what looked like a farmhouse. So this is my granddads home. I could imagine my mom growing up he, playing outside on the lush green garden. The car pulled up outside the steps of the farmhouse. I looked out of the window and saw an elderly man propped up against the door frame with his arms crossed.
Femi opened the door for me and I got out of the car. I stood there and stared at the man. No words just silence. I saw him clench his fists tightly and took one step then stopped. Was he nervous? or was he angry? I wanted to look away but I couldn't, the aura that came from him was powerful. He took another step, then another until he stood infronf of me. My neck craned to look at him. He was tall, very very tall. He must of stood at least 6ft 8 and against my frame of 5ft 2 he was a giant. Cold sweat started forming on my forehead. Suddenly his arms lunged at me, my eyes closed tightly as I braced myself. Then I wad pulled up to a solid wall. His arms wrapped around me tightly. One hand was on my head, the other wrapped around me. I just stood there as he crushed me in his hug. I didn't say anything I just kept quiet. He held his hug for a few minutes then his grip released me slowly. He pulled back a little and looked down at me. "Jayla, finally your here. I ...I am your grandpa." "Hi grandpa." I instantly lowered my gaze suddenly feeling a bit shy. "Goddess, you was just a baby when I last saw you." He spoke deep but softly. I looked at him and I noticed his eyes were wet. Was he crying? He took my hand and led me into the house. It was a typical ranch house. Two floors a big kitchen, a large sitting room with a large open fire. Wooden floors with floor rugs im various places. The porch way was spacious with boots lined up along the side of a wall. Coats hanging on a rack. Femi brought my suitcase in and left it in the kitchen. "Femi, can you take the case to Jayla's room please." Femi nodded and took the case and walked upstairs. A few minutes later he came back down and left closing the door behind him. I still stood in the exact same place, my fingers entwined. For some reason I felt nervous. Grandpa looked at me. "Sit, sit." He gestured. I smiled and pulled out a chair. He poured two cups of coffee and placed them down on the table then sat down. He looked at me and sighed. "Jayla, I don't know what exactly happened at your old pack, but Mathew has filled me in a little." He stopped and just stared at me. "I want you to know that you are perfectly safe here. I won't allow anyone to hurt you." He reached his hand over wanting to take my hand. I lifted my hand and reached for his. His hand gripped mine softly. "Everything will be alright Kiddo I promise." Kiddo, that name sounded familiar but I couldn't remember where. I felt the sting behind my eyes but I didn't let them fall. I couldn't let my emotions take me right now. I couldn't show that I'm vulnerable. I needed to stay strong for myself and my pup. "Kid, I have made an appointment in town for you to see the OYBGN Doctor tomorrow. But I think right now you need to rest. We can talk some more tomorrow." I nodded at him and stood up picking my mug of coffee up to take with me. "Come, I'll show you your room." He stood up and walked ahead. I followed behind up the stairs. He led me down the landing and stopped infront of a door and then opened it. I stepped inside and found it warm and cosy. Just being in the room, seeing the bed made me feel tired. I walked over and place my cup down then sat on the bed. "If you need anything my room is at the end of the landing by the stairs. Your bathroom is threw that door and there's fresh towels inside. Breakfast is at 7." "O..ok thank you grandpa." "No problem Kiddo, get some rest." Grandpa left shutting the door behind him. I stood up and walked to the bathroom door. when ai opened it I was stunned. The bathroom was huge. In one corner stood a stand alone walk in shower, there was a Bath standing alone by the barhroom window. The double oval sinks were beautiful a warm cream colour. Taps were gold. I walked to the shower and turned it on. I left it run and walked back out to find some clean pj's. Didn't need to rummage far they were on the top layer. I walked back into the bathroom and closed the door. I peeled my clothes off and stepped under the shower. The temperature was just right. It was hot and the steam quickly filled the room. I let the water run down over my head and felt the tension in my body evaporate into the rising steam. I don't know how long I had been standing there but I was feeling myself draining quickly. I saw some shower gel and quickly washed myself. I washed my hair then got out grabbing a towel on the rack beside the shower. I towel dried my hair then dried myself. I slipped my pj's on and walked out back into my room. I Let myself sink onto the bed, not caring that my hair was still damp. I was to tired to dry it. I wriggled around until I got myself under the thick duvet, I sunk my head on the pillow and let sleep take me.I laid upon the table and lifted my shirt. The doctor squeezed cold gel onto my stomach and placed the wand. the picture on tve monitor screen lit up and suddenly a heart beat sounded. Steady and sounded strong. The picture cleared slightly and a form appeared on the screen. A small blob right in the middle. I could see the heart beating. A tear escaped my eye and I smiled. My pup. "Jayla, our pup." Azelea whispered. Her tail wagging. Azelea was calm. Her head rested on her front paws. Her tail swishing from side to side. "Our pup." she whispered in contentment. " Well it all looks good Jayla. Any questions?" "Uh, no I don't think so Doctor." "Right then let's check your blood pressure next and draw some blood, then I will sort your pre vitamins out for you." "OK thank you." "Here can you wipe that yourself?" as she handed me some tissue. I took the tissue and wiped the gel from my stomach. I sat up and slid off the bed and sorted myself out. I walked over to her desk and sa
I woke to the smell of bacon wafting past my nose. My nose twitched as my mouth watered. I scrambled out of bed just as my stomach started moaning. I quickly washed and put clean clothes on. I rushed downstairs and saw grandad sitting at the dining table. A plate of bacon and eggs, tomatoes and sausages were next to a mug of coffee. I quickly sat down and automatically my stomach grumbled again. A laugh came from grandpa as I picked up my knife and fork. He reached over and placed a piece of toast onto my plate. We ate in silence till we both finished eating. I was full. "What are you planning to do thus morning kiddo?" "I was thinking of taking a walk around the place, you know explore a little." "OK, but don't wander into the forest out back ok." I nodded and started drinking my coffee. Grandpa got up and put his finished mug in the sink, he walked to the door pulled his boots on and left. I stood up and walked outside. Just outside of the main door was a small table and

As the car sped down the road, my heart was still thumping. A pressure came then went in my head. I was starting to get anxious. Aunty turned to look at me. "Now Jayla, don't call when you get there. Mathew and I have already discussed what to say to the Alpha if he askes us and he will. Once you sever all ties he will send warriors out to find you. Do not worry about us." She reached her hand out to me and i took it. She squeezed my hand. "Make sure you live well honey, and if I can come see you I will." I felt my eyes sting a little, but I knew I couldn't go soft now. I am so close to leaving all this behind. But I will never forget the warmly home that surrounded me growing up with them. I loved them both so much, they were the best step parents anyone could ask for. I sat back and watched everything go by. I suddenly felt the car slow up. I looked to the front and saw a black car parked on the side of the road. As we approached it I noticed that the car windows were b
After about an hour the pressure resided, but it left my head throbbing. By eight oclock that evening a car had pulled up outside of the cottage, the head lights beaming on full that shone through the lounge window. I watched from the window as Jake got out of the car and walked up to the door. He knocked, I didn't answer. He knocked again, I still didn't answer. Then the front door opened and he walked right in. He looked around until his eyes found me. "Why are you not ready?""I told you I'm not going.""But Alpha said you had to come."I stood there glaring at him. "Leave Jake, I'm not going. I have no reason to go so I'm staying here. Besides i'm tired."Jake didn't know what to do. I noticed his eyes glaze over obviously mind linking Cylus. He looked at me. "Then rest well." that was all he said. He walked out leaving the door open, got in the car and left. I watched the car drive off before I closed the door. The car lights growing smaller the further it went. I closed th
I walked to to the door and reached my hand to open the door. Inside it was clean. Someone had put a small bunch of flowers on the table. I walked around the place to see where everything was. It was small but cute. For a cottage so far out it was really maintained. It was clean and tidy. There were fresh bed linen on the bed. It was light and airy. I was slightly surprised for a cottage so far away and on the edge of the border the sun light streamed through the windows. I walked to the kitchen and looked through the cupboards. I opened the fridge and was surprised it was stocked. I put the kettle on to make a camamile tea. My body was exhausted, with everything over the past few months everything seemed lighter now. Then my thoughts went to the man named grandad. I don't even remember him. I can't even recall my parents ever taking me to see him. Where exactly did he live? My shoulders lifted and I held my head up. At least I would be away from theses idiots. After my tea was made
