Chapter fourteen

Joe threw the book away.

Nonsense. The author of this book was out of his mind.

Take a thousand years to master? He needed to be more powerful a thousand years ago!

He sighed and looked up at Master Damien, who was also reading a book in his hands.

The large book closed with force.

"You still haven't picked yet", Master Damien said. The Master was getting impatient."And it's almost dawn".

The thought of being beat up again in training weakened Joe's resolve.

"Why did you pick me?", Joe adked

"You're a demon. And you need me, so you wouldn't go around causing havoc. And I'm starting to see that you're not even a threat".

"Do you have to put me down every chance you get?"

He didn't get an answer. He looked at Master Damien. "Give me a sword", he ordered.

"Suicide?"

"No, I'm going to defeat her", he said.

Emily's POV

I sighed again. For like the hundredth time. Joe wasn't picking up. I would have wished to be with him right now, than be in this dammed countryside.
