I despised how she made Maria feel uncomfortable and detested seeing her everywhere. Without Maria, I would not have allowed her to dine with me.

“Alex, what are you thinking about?” Maria asked me. I sighed and turned around to face her.

“Maria, how are you?”

“I’m good, Alex, much better than yesterday,” she said, smiling. “So, can you tell me what you are thinking about?”

“It’s nothing serious,” I replied.

“I know you’re thinking about her.”

“About who?” I asked.

“Your mate. I kind of like her. I want her to be my friend.” What would I be able to do without her? She was rare, kind, and loved taking care of others.

“I’m not thinking about her, and I don’t get why you want to be friends with someone like her. She is a crazy one.”
