LOGINElina
I tried to keep myself from collapsing in this condition. Honestly, this was truly shocking—so much that a bitter taste filled my throat, making it hard for me to speak.
So… was it really the same necklace?
Wasn’t that necklace meant for me?
My heart felt like it was being torn apart over and over again, the pain making me suffocate.
This was my meeting with her again, yet I felt no sense of calm at all.
Even afterward, during dinner, I tried hard to act as if nothing had happened. I kept eating quietly in the dining room, without bringing up the diamond necklace around Lora’s neck.
But inside, I was truly wounded. I didn’t even have the appetite to eat my dinner.
“Lora, Mom has missed you so much. Thank goodness you’ve finally come back.”
Rose spoke so gently and happily, something I had never once received from her.
She had always treated Lora very well. Lora, her daughter, entered this family when Rose remarried and lived abroad before Jonathan and I got married.
“Mom is so happy. You look even more beautiful, Lora.”
Her voice was so loud it couldn’t be ignored. That was what made our eyes meet unintentionally, but Rose shot me a dismissive look.
“Thank you, Mom.”
I tried to ignore it and focused on my food, even though I knew Rose’s words were true. Lora really was a beautiful woman, she had a charm that was hard to ignore.
Her full lips also made her look sexy. Of course, in my opinion, I had my own kind of beauty.
Just as I let out a breath, I heard something shocking.
“You’ve just returned to Westford. You must be very tired, Lora,” Rose continued enthusiastically. “You’d better stay in this house so you can rest and enjoy your time.”
My heart seemed to stop suddenly when I heard her offer. Jonathan, beside me, gave no response, but I felt extremely uneasy. Something felt like it wouldn’t be okay if Lora stayed here.
I acted first.
“I think Lora would be better off staying somewhere else.” I tried to smile so it wouldn’t sound too tense.
They looked at me as if I had just done something wrong.
Lora stopped eating, her gentle eyes turning to me. “I’m sorry, Elina, if I’m troubling you. But I’ve just returned to this city, and I’m exhausted. It’s hard to find another place.”
Her voice softened as she glanced at Rose, who immediately pulled her into a hug.
“The only family I know is here. When I was abroad, I was truly lonely without family.” Lora lowered her head, touching her eyes as if she had just cried.
Suddenly, Jonathan reacted. The gentleness filling his expression shook the calm in my heart even more than before.
“Lora, you can stay here.”
“Jonathan—” I tried to hold his hand, but he immediately shook mine off.
“Think of this house as your home, Lora. You’re always welcome.” He smiled sweetly.
What I wanted most was for my husband to support me. But he chose to side with another woman. Now, with the gentle smile appearing on Lora’s face, I was certain she was delighted to have gained all their sympathy.
“Thank you, Jonathan.” A bright smile spread across her face.
“This reminds me of the times we spent together. Do you remember how we often worked and fell asleep on the sofa together?”
“Ah, and you said I was very good at making coffee back then.”
I didn’t expect Jonathan’s expression to change completely. He responded to Lora’s words with enthusiasm.
“You really were great at making coffee. I’ve missed it.”
The sound of their lively laughter as they reminisced about the past pushed me further away. At this moment, I truly seemed like a stranger—like an outsider who had no place here…
Even after dinner ended, Lora sat beside Jonathan without sparing me a glance.
They continued talking enthusiastically about their past together. As I tried to join the conversation and quickly followed after them, my steps came to a halt.
Rose looked at me with a sharp gaze. I had lived in this family long enough, yet not once had I ever received the gentle look and treatment from Rose that she gave to Lora.
It was painfully obvious.
“Are you trying to make this house unpleasant?” her voice sharpened. “You keep hovering around me just to stress me out.”
“Mom, I’m not doing that,” I replied.
Rose ignored my words and touched her head. “See? You just keep giving me a headache.”
“A woman with such an unclear background like you should understand her place.”
Hearing her words, I lost the ability to speak. Rose would never accept me into this family.
Filled with sadness, I turned around and went to the room to calm myself.
I know we don’t share blood, but I have become Jonathan’s wife and done so much for this family. Am I still worthy of being treated like a stranger?
I tried hard to steady my breathing, to ease the tightness in my chest. I didn’t expect that when the door opened, I would see Jonathan.
He followed me.
“Elina, don’t think too much about what Mother said. You know what she’s like.”
I was in no mood to say much. I only nodded, accepting his explanation as usual.
Jonathan has never truly gone against his stepmother.
But this was my chance to ask him. “Jonathan, the necklace on Lora’s neck—you were the one who gave it to her, right?”
I kept staring into his eyes. “Why did you give it to her? You gave it to her, didn’t you?”
I was truly bothered by the necklace and their interaction. That uneasy feeling completely took over me.
“Ah, that necklace… was given by my assistant when I told them to prepare something,” Jonathan let out a breath.
“I didn’t expect that was what he gave. He might have made a mistake by not doing it properly.”
Jonathan held my hand. Focusing on his grip, I slowly began to feel calmer.
“Do you want one? I’ll tell him to prepare one for you too.”
Little by little, the tightness in my chest eased as I saw his smile. Warmth returned because Jonathan was being gentle.
At this moment, maybe I should talk about my pregnancy.
Yes, I should tell him soon, and Jonathan will surely be very happy.
“Jonathan, I want to say something about the results—”
“LORA!”
The loud shout made us rush out of the room in a hurry.
“Lora! Lora!”
Seeing Rose shouting and calling for Lora, who had fallen to the floor, I glanced at Jonathan’s expression as it changed.
I couldn’t believe that Jonathan immediately rushed over and worried about her so intensely.
My heart sank at the sight.
Throughout our marriage, I have constantly felt lonely. Now, seeing Jonathan so full of concern for another woman—something he has never shown to me.
Now I look at myself and feel pathetic and foolish.
ElinaI had just turned off my phone screen when I placed it on my lap and enjoyed the breeze flowing into the car.“What’s wrong?” Lucius’s voice came from beside me.I glanced at him. “There’s a rumor about Raven, and it really worries me.” I slowly exhaled. “But the problem has been resolved. Raven said he’s fine.”Lucius smiled as he continued driving smoothly.“I know Raven is a great man. Dealing with the rumors spread by that bastard Ezra will be easy for him.”I narrowed my eyes as I looked at him. For a moment, the way Lucius spoke reminded me of Raven. But I didn’t think too much about it.After all, it seemed like many people thought Ezra really was a bastard. So I turned my gaze forward, looking at the quiet road surrounded by lush greenery.I followed Lucius’s advice to take some time to relax, and he took me out for a little trip. I trusted him completely.During the journey, I noticed that he was taking me somewhere secluded. After driving for about an hour, we finally
ElinaWhen I opened my eyes, I was immediately hit by an overwhelming wave of dizziness. Instinctively, I closed my eyes again, and then I heard someone calling my name.“Elina.”“You’re awake.”The voice called out to me several times, but I didn’t respond right away. I needed to get myself together first. Eventually, I managed to slowly open my eyes.I saw my dad and mom, then my gaze shifted to the side. I saw an IV drip there, the fluid slowly dripping into my vein.Ah, right. It seemed I had lost consciousness earlier.I closed my eyes again for less than a second as I swallowed, only to realize there was hardly any saliva. My throat felt incredibly dry.“Wa…ter…”I spoke weakly. Not long after, someone placed a glass of water in my hand.As I drank, I realized that the person who had given me the water was Lucius. Apparently, he was in my room too.Slowly, I tried to move and adjust my sitting position, and Lucius immediately helped me. He looked at me with concern.“Elina,” he
ElinaAll my work was finally finished, but dealing with the commotion caused by those demanding a response from Raven was incredibly troublesome and exhausting.I had already asked them to increase security, and I still…I let them remain around the building. This place was important for improving their abilities and focusing on the achievements they were aiming for. So, we really needed to make sure that was all they focused on without any distractions.Raven still hadn't given any response to the rumors. Because of that, people started saying that he was incredibly annoying. Some even claimed that, eventually, he would be kicked out of F1 or even lose his place among the elite. They said all sorts of insulting things about him, from his appearance to his alleged criminal background. The terrible rumors spreading about him were absolutely fucking vicious. When I went home, I could still see a crowd of reporters gathered not too far from the building, but I ignored them. Thankfully,
ElinaHe rested his face against my back, and I could feel the warmth of his breath.Since I was allowing him to act like this, I let my body relax and get comfortable.I briefly thought that it wouldn't be a problem if I, already feeling sleepy, ended up falling asleep here. I could simply consider it a short rest.I was genuinely startled when Raven's office door suddenly opened.“Raven!”The loud, energetic voice came from someone who was now staring at us with wide eyes. He wasn't the only one shocked and panicked. I was, too.I honestly hadn't expected David to be so casual when entering Raven's office. Then he seemed to swallow nervously.“Uhh… you have a guest.” His voice weakened as he appeared to search for a way out of the current situation. But then his gaze shifted again.“So Miss Everhart is your girlfriend.”“A-ah, it's not what you think…”In a hurry, I tried to get off Raven's lap. But Raven held me in place, making it seem as though the man standing in front of him un
ElinaI could barely keep myself from getting annoyed by Ezra's statement.“Raven?”As the spotlights and reporters focused on him during the press conference, he smirked, displaying all the arrogance he could muster.“Ah, that man might lose this time because he's too busy with his girlfriend.”And that statement caused an incredible uproar. People immediately started discussing Raven's private life, which had always seemed so mysterious.Everyone was talking about who his girlfriend was and whether he really had one. There were countless reactions from fans saying they would be disappointed if Raven had a girlfriend. They acted as though they knew everything, judging him like that. In my opinion, they didn't know Raven at all. They had made a foolish judgment.Raven was an incredibly talented man, and he was deeply dedicated to F1.However, after remembering what had happened between the two of us, I couldn't help worrying that something might happen to him.So, after seeing Ezra's
LuciusMy eyes snapped open, my heart pounding rapidly as I was still under the lingering effects of the nightmare I'd just had. With my head throbbing, I rubbed it repeatedly while trying to steady my breathing.“Ah, no way…” I whispered hoarsely.I slowly shook my head, pressing my forehead harder. “No. Elina is a good woman. She wouldn't get angry. She can accept my explanation.”I repeated those words to myself over and over. After keeping my secret as Raven for so long, I felt deeply bound to it.I had a deep fear that my identity would be exposed.A long time ago, my parents often took me to corporate events and other business gatherings. There were many people who knew that I was their son.I mingled with the children of wealthy businessmen and other members of the upper class. At first, everything went well until they kidnapped me.They locked me up for a week in a cramped place and nearly left me to drown after I fell from a cliff.I was in a coma for a month, and ever since
ElinaI woke up with excruciating pain in my stomach and all over my body.I was lying on the bed, and the hospital room felt so empty. Not a single person was there, not even Jonathan.A lonely feeling washed over me, and the memory of Jonathan’s back became clearer. He had left me without hesitat
ElinaThey both stood in front of me, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. They stopped their work.“Today, I will be introducing someone,” he said in a monotone voice. “Lora Moreau, who will be the new manager.”I suddenly lost focus, my eyes trembling at Jonathan’s statement. How could
Elina“What happened to you, Lora?”“Where does it hurt?” Jonathan kept asking as he held Lora’s hand.As I got closer, I could see more clearly that Lora was now leaning against Jonathan’s chest. He stroked her head in panic.“Calm down, Lora. I’m here.”Jonathan kept saying that, over and over, t
ElinaThe air still felt cold after I left the doctor’s office. I still couldn’t believe what I had just heard.Maybe God had finally answered my prayers. Clenching my hands, I quickened my pace.As I walked out of the hospital, my eyes immediately caught sight of Jonathan’s car. I couldn’t hold ba
