“It’s either that or you are kicked out.” With that, she stood up and practically danced her way out of the room in excitement.

“It’s going to be okay.” Philip reassured me as I sniffled, trying to stop the tears from streaming down my face.

“No it’s not. Why would he force a marriage on me?” I asked.

“Maybe you should go and see him.” He answered.

“Who?”

“August Wolfe.”

I was about to protest when he cut me off.

“He might be able to give the answers you are looking for.” He replied.

I did have a lot of questions. My dad wasn’t here and the only person who would be able to answer was the other person who signed the contract — August Wolfe.

“Okay. I will.” I mumbled through the tears.

He laughed, wiping the tears from my face and giving me a quick hug.

“Whatever happens, just know that I am the only one who is going to be here, and I will always support you in whatever you decide.” Phillip smiled reassuringly, making me smile instinctively.

The churning in my stomach had reduced thanks to Philip’s reassurance. I no longer felt as nervous as I was.

“Okay, I have to go to work. You’ll be okay, right?” He asked, getting up.

“I’ll try to be.”

Maybe I actually needed to see him. No one in my house seemed to be honest, and I desperately needed answers from someone. Especially someone who knew my father.

My Father.

I barely thought about him as much as I should’ve. The years we spent together were the best years of my life. It was like…having someone you knew you could always fall back on. Someone who was always there to support and protect you. He did not have any relatives and I was an only child.

*FLASHBACK*

“Dad.” I sobbed, clutching my injured knee.

“Drewdrop! What happened?” He exclaimed, running towards me and looking at me.

His brown eyes that resembled mine held so much worry as he gazed down at my bloody knee caused by those kids.

I was a pretty quiet child. Quiet children were always a bully’s perfect target.

“I fell.” I lied, avoiding eye contact.

If I had told my dad, I would just be bullied harder. I remembered thinking that.

His eyes studied my face for a minute before he sighed, sitting on the grass like I was.

His knee was propped up to his shoulders as he looked around before finally settling his eyes on my small 6-year-old figure.

“Drew.” He called out.

I looked up at him to see his eyes staring directly at mine.

“You fell?” He asked slowly without breaking eye contact.

He always knew how to get the truth out of me. If I avoided eye contact, he knew it was a lie.

Without having a choice, I shook my head no and broke eye contact.

He sighed, pulling me close with his arm. “What did I tell you about lies?” He asked.

“Lies break trust and make people feel sad” I repeated the same words he preached for years.

He nodded, standing up and picking me up with him. He sat me down on one of the park’s benches.

“I’ll be right back, okay drew?” He stated, bending down to my level to examine my face. I nodded, and watched him walk into the pharmacy situated in front of the park.

He came out with a bag in his hand and sat on the same bench with me.

He slowly took my injured knee and placed it on his lap, pulling out a cream and cotton buds from the bag.

He applied ointment on the bud, and slowly applied it on my wound.

“Daddy!” I hissed, the pain becoming increasingly worse.

He chuckled, smiling down at me.

“Sorry, I’ll be gentle.” he laughed.

After that, he took out a hello kitty bandage and placed it over the wound.

“All done.” He smiled.

“It’s pretty.” I grinned as he kissed my forehead.

There was a comfortable silence around us until he spoke up.

“Who pushed you?”

I looked down at my hands, debating on telling him or not.

Lies were not good. I told myself.

“Bianca and her friends.” I told him truthfully.

“I thought Bianca was your friend” He asked curiously.

“She said we were not friends anymore.” That was partly true. But not the whole truth. She said she could not be friends with girls who did not have mothers. I couldn’t tell dad that because mom was a sensitive topic for him.

“Okay Drewdrop. Let’s go home.” He sighed, getting up.

He bent down and looked back at me with a smile.

“Piggyback ride?” He asked, and I squealed with excitement.

I later found out that he confronted Bianca’s parents and got them punished for what they did to me.

Bianca and her friends never bullied me again.

*END OF FLASHBACK•

Drewdrop.

I missed hearing that name so much.

When he died, I wasn’t able to comprehend the situation. I always looked at it as him taking a short trip. He would come back. I reassured my twelve-year-old self every night.

But he didn’t.

I was left alone in this world.

He was a very private person. No friends either. So to find out that he signed a contract giving me away to someone, there had to be a connection between them.

Lying down in my bed with a sigh, I couldn’t help but think over the entire situation.

Was this actually happening? I was to be married to a billionaire. What was his name again?

I sat up, picking my phone up to G****e him.

August Wolfe.

I wanted to see the guy I was supposed to wed.

No pictures of him came up but the company and its achievements were displayed all over my screen.

Wolfe systems.

Established in 2015.

Founded by August Wolfe, son of Ethan Wolfe of Wolfe holdings, a real estate and investment company.

Started as a small accounting firm but grew into cybersecurity and data systems for banks.

Wow.

They were actually billionaires.

He seemed to be a private person as I could only find images of his father.

What kind of man hides his face from the world…but binds himself to a stranger for life?

Was this a lifeline or a death sentence?

DREA“Why did he do that?” I asked.“I don’t know.” She replied.“What do you know about my mum?” She sighed, rubbing her hands over her face.“Just what your dad told me. She died when you were three.” She explained.“He was never really over her even after we got married.” She continued. If he still loved her and had never gotten over her, then why cut her face out of the photos?“Do you know how August’s dad knew my mum?” I asked. Her brows furrowed.“Your husband’s father?” She asked and I nodded. She looked down for a second, almost as if she was thinking about something deeply.“From what I know, they were really close growing up, and your parents met when they were teenagers.“So they all had to know each other, right?”That’s it.They all knew each other as kids.“So wait. You knew that August’s dad and my dad were friends, and allowed me to marry his son?”She huffed, looking at me.“So what? They’re rich aren’t they? Nothing else matters to me.” She responded.I sighed. For

DREA “What are you talking about?” I mumbled, and they gasped as soon as I entered the kitchen. They ran close to me with their hands clasped and their heads down. “Mrs. Wolfe!” One of them exclaimed, her voice shaky. “What are you talking about?” I asked again. They looked at each other, as if contemplating whether they should say something or not. “I won’t ask again,” I warned, my voice firm. The one who was next to the stove closed her eyes tightly. “I used to work for Mr Wolfe’s father before getting transferred here” she started, her head still down. “While I was there, he usually got drunk and stared at a photo of a woman for hours” She continued. “I heard him talking to someone on the phone one day about how Mr Wolfe’s fiancée was her daughter.” My heart stopped. A lump formed in my throat. Ethan Wolfe knew my mum? How? “Who was he on the phone with?” I asked. They looked at each other once again, not speaking. “WHO?!” I yelled, my hands balling

DREA “I still don’t understand why you still work here.” Camille sighed, brewing some coffee. “It’s something to keep me busy.” I replied, serving a customer. “I don’t have school for four months and I can’t stay cooped up in that house anymore.” It felt really good to finally just…breathe. Free from cameras watching your every move Free from security and their hushed conversations. “Just leave her if she still wants to work.” Alex chimed in. I turned around, barely noticing the time he came in. “Exactly.” I responded. He stared at me for a second before heading back to the kitchen. “You know he has a crush on you right?” Camille asked with a smirk. Alex? “No way.” I scoffed. She stood up properly. “It’s true. It’s literally as clear as day!” She exclaimed before getting a customer. “Are you really August Wolfe’s wife?” I looked towards a woman who looked to be in her early thirties staring at me behind the counter. Not this again. Ever since the wedding, it’s been lik

DREA I yawned, stretching my limbs and waking up. I didn't want to get up from this comfy bed. This was the best I had slept in years. sighing, I got up with a groan and headed to the Huse bathroom. Unlike my usual shower which takes minutes to heat up, this one heated up in literal seconds. I sighed, taking my time under the shower before stepping out and making my way to the walk in closet. I got dressed in some shorts and some random t shirt before heading out for the day I headed downstairs the next day to see Mrs Carrington already waiting for me. She looked up from her watch and glanced at me. “Good morning Mrs Wolfe. I trust you slept well.” She said, her voice controlled. “I did.” I smiled. That was the best sleep of my life. I’m obsessed with that bed. “Let’s begin the tour.” Without giving me a chance to respond, she began walking away as I hurriedly followed. This place had three living rooms that were ridiculously large and felt staged. It had a twelve-sea

DREAThe night sky had stars spread out across it, twinkling brightly.I stared out of the sky, reminiscing about the day I had.I was now Drea Wolfe.I was free from Ivanka.I was…married.I still couldn’t believe it. The cold diamond ring on my finger was a constant reminder that I wasn’t actually dreaming.August was beside me on his phone, probably working. This man just never stops.Even works on his wedding day.I was so lucky to have Camille and Alex at my side the entire night to keep me company.Since I was ditched. All I wanted to do was get out of these clothes and sleep. We had been driving for a while.I didn’t know he loved it this far out of the city. The car suddenly came to a stop in the middle of nowhere. My brows furrowed as I looked out of the window for any sign of life.Nothing.There was nothing but a tall black iron gate that had the Wolfe crest on it.There were at least five security guards at the gates who immediately opened them when they saw us.The gates

AUGUST I adjusted the tie around my neck, looking down at my watch. 5:34 pm. We are about to get called in. Where was she? As if on cue, I heard her walking in with her friend hot on her tail, adjusting her hair. She changed into a similar dress but shorter. She fixed the bangles around her wrist before craning her neck up to look at me. “Are you ready?” I asked. She nodded. “I’ll be inside.” I heard her friend say before she left. Like a rehearsed play, I stretched an arm out. She linked her arms with mine and breathed out heavily. “Put your hands together for the newlyweds, Mr and Mrs Wolfe.” With that, the doors pushed open and claps erupted. We slowly walked arm in arm, a tight smile on my face as we made our way to the dance floor. This had to be perfect. It had to be believable. A million eyes were watching. One wrong move and the headlines would write themselves. A slow song started to play and I slowly grabbed her by her waist, pulling her closer. She place
