Paige's POV

The silence of the mansion pressed in on me like a suffocating shroud. Even the shadows seemed heavier tonight, stretching long and cold against the ornate walls of my room. I sat on the edge of the bed, my breath shallow, my pulse an erratic drumbeat in my ears, the argument with Raymond from earlier still rang through my mind, cutting into me like jagged glass. His fury, his harsh words, the way his eyes glowed when he called me Avina… it all replayed on a loop, each memory feeding my growing dread.

I couldn’t stay here. Not another second.

My hands trembled as I clutched the thin blanket around me. Somewhere deep in my chest, beneath the fear and confusion, was a voice whispering insistently, urging me to move, to run, to escape before it was too late. It was the same voice I’d heard in my dreams, soft but commanding, warm and terrifying all at once.

"Go, my vessel, you are not safe here."

The words echoed like a phantom touch across my skin, and for a brief, breathless

  • Bound by Blood and Betrayal    Proof of Truth

Raymond's POVI woke before dawn, my mind restless and sharp, like a blade honed to the edge of breaking. The memory of Paige’s trembling voice last night clung to me, refusing to fade. Her words had been clear, heavy with finality, I can’t give you an heir. I can’t have children. But deep in my chest, something resisted, something refused to accept it as truth.I lay there for a long moment, staring at the ceiling, every muscle coiled with tension. It wasn’t about the council’s demand for an heir anymore, though their pressure weighed on me like an iron chain. This was about Paige, about the lies woven around her since the moment she stepped into my life. I had seen her pain, her certainty, the way her voice had cracked when she’d spoken of Ethan, the man who’d broken her in ways she couldn’t even name.I believed she believed it. But the belief was not true. And truth, I would have.I rose from bed, dressing with quick, precise movements, my mind already calculating. If Paige’s clai

  • Bound by Blood and Betrayal    Whispers of Heir

Paige's POVThe blood had long dried on my palm, a faint scar forming where Raymond’s blade had cut me. I traced it absentmindedly with my thumb as I stood near the balcony, staring at the horizon while the sun crept higher into the pale sky. My body still felt heavy, drained from the fire that had burst from me the night before. But my mind… my mind would not rest.Raymond’s vow echoed in my head, over and over, there is no side but yours. The words should have soothed me. Instead, they left me unsettled, like there was something unspoken beneath them, something he hadn’t told me yet. He was a man of secrets, and I was growing weary of being in the dark. The mansion was unusually quiet, the kind of silence that hums with hidden activity. I knew Raymond had left early for a council meeting. He hadn’t said as much, but I had seen it in his eyes when he kissed my forehead before dawn. There had been tension in his touch, a storm brewing behind his calm façade.I couldn’t go back to slee

Raymond's POVThe clearing still smelled of smoke, the earth was scorched black where her fire had raged moments ago, and the night air hummed with the echo of her power. My heart hammered in my chest as I stared at Paige, trembling and wide-eyed, her hands hanging limply at her sides.I had seen her angry before. I had seen her defiant. But this… this was something else entirely. This was the awakening I had prayed would never come, a blaze of raw magic that could either save us all or destroy everything. Her breath came in shallow gasps, her lips parted as though she were drowning in the remnants of her own fury. Even from several feet away, I could feel the heat radiating from her, searing my skin. My wolves kept to the edges of the trees, subdued by her display. None of them dared to move. None of them even breathed loudly.Only I stepped forward.“Paige,” I said softly, my voice almost breaking. She flinched, turning toward me as if she expected another enemy instead of the man w

Paige's POVThe silence after Raymond’s cryptic words clung to me long after he left my room. It’s begun… too soon. Those words gnawed at the edges of my mind, twisting into a knot of dread in my chest. I lay in bed, staring at the faint scorch marks on my ceiling, the smell of burned fabric still lingering in the air. Sleep didn’t come easily. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw fire licking up my arms, saw the terrified look on his face as he grabbed my wrists, and felt the pulse of raw power that had surged through me.Raymond knew something, he always did, and once again, he’d refused to tell me.I’d reached my limit.Tonight, I wasn’t going to sit here, helpless and blind, waiting for answers to fall into my lap. I needed to know. I needed to take back some control before I lost myself completely. My decision was made before the last embers of moonlight slipped behind the clouds. Quietly, I swung my legs over the side of the bed,

  • Bound by Blood and Betrayal    His Fury

Raymond's POVThe room was too small to contain the storm raging inside me.Papers scattered across the floor like fallen leaves, each one a memory I had tried so desperately to bury, names, faces, lives I had ended for the sake of the realm, for the sake of balance. And now, Paige stood among them, her chest heaving, her wide, terrified eyes fixed on me as though I were the monster she’d always suspected I was.I saw the exact moment her fear shifted into something sharper, betrayal. Before she could move, I crossed the room in a heartbeat, my boots pounding against the stone floor, the shadows seemed to recoil as I advanced, the candlelight stretching wild and jagged across the walls, my hand shot forward, snatching the folder from where it lay near her feet. The sound of tearing paper echoed as I gripped it too tightly. “What were you doing in here?” My voice was low, guttural, threaded with the beast barely contained beneath my s
