Elena’s pov.

The day of the charity gala arrived, and as I stared at my dress on the bed, I was beyond marveled.

Horace had it designed by the most sought-after designer in the whole of Crimson Moon, and though it was ordered on short notice, Horace paid double the amount needed to expedite the creation process.

And it came out beautifully.

I plugged in my waterproof jacket, AirPods, and went into the shower.

After making my skin squeaky clean, I admired my body in the mirror before dancing out of the bathroom, preparing to start my makeup when the door burst open.

I froze. We froze. Eyes wide as we stared at each other.

Then, after what felt like an eternity, my brain managed to get itself together, and a loud scream tore through my throat.

“What are you doing here?” I yelled, frantically trying to open the bathroom door, but to my utmost horror, it had jammed.

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” He said at the same time, turning around immediately.

“Shit shit shit. No, please.” I muttered as

Horace pov.“I’m fine. I’m fine. Are you okay?” I rested my hand on her, patting gently.“Blood.” She mumbled.“Hey, come here. It’s fine. It’s not yours, okay. It’s in the other car, not ours. We’re fine.” I put her head on my chest before reaching for my phone to call the authorities.A car had just done a hit-and-run.But what was worse was that the car that hit seemed to be coming towards us at first. And unfortunately, another unaware vehicle came from the middle intersection and took the hit.And even though it didn't have any impact on our car, Elena looked so scared and confused.Like she was directly involved with it. I’d never seen those eyes look that scared and disheartened.“I’m here. I got you, I promise you. You’re fine.”I pulled her close, rubbing her shoulders. She leaned in tightly. Like she was afraid I’d leave if she didn’t.The appropriate force was there in a few minutes.Fortunately, the victim did not suffer major injuries. She was taken to the hospital for a

Elena’s pov.How the hell was it even possible to feel my heart burn this deeply for a second mate when I had a whole husband? I asked myself. But I had no explanations for it. Horace, standing beside me, was in one of the most vulnerable situations I had ever been in.Worse, because he had my eyes blindfolded.“And to make it worse, you have on this same robe, Elena. This damn robe.” He growled against my ear.Did this man bring me to the deep forest to make love to me?it better not be because at this point, I had no iota of control left.Heat settled in places in my body that it had no business with.“H-Horace, what are you doing?” I managed.“What does it look like, Elena? You tell me.” He whispered against my ear, his big, cold hands wrapped around my neck in stark contrast to the warmth of my body.I mumbled something but didn’t have the courage to say it out loud.“Louder. Let me hear your voice.”I swallowed. “You want to make love to me… in the middle of the forest,” I mutter

Horace pov.I stood at the door, watching as she got out of the car. As she came closer, I wrapped my arms around her waist, smiling. She looked at me with shocked eyes, about to protest when my voice rang out.“Don’t. We need to be very convincing to the public, don’t we?”“But we’re not in public now.”“Actually, we are. This compound is filled with people and people gossip and pass information. So dear girlfriend of mine, stop talking, come closer and give me a convincing hug.”Her eyes wandered around, meeting the various guards and workers around the house. She finally caved, leaned into me in a warm light hug. But I had more in mind.I pulled her closer and tighter into the hug, my hand traveling and settling on her waist. She flinched. “Relax, little miss professional, this is what a real relationship hug looks like. Not that robotic thing you were trying to do.”“My goodness, Horace.” She mumbled. After the public charade, we finally walked in.“So how did it really go?” I ask

Elena’s pov.But as he got close enough, a guard, a man much bigger and bulkier than him, came from behind me and pushed at his chest, warning him to keep off.I hadn’t even realized they followed me inside. At that moment, I found myself singing praise of gratitude to Horace. He once again made a good prediction about these animals and made sure I was one step ahead.Michael scoffed dryly. “What? Is this why you’re leaving me for him? Bodyguards? Why didn’t you say anything? I could have gotten one for you if you wanted it that badly.”I laughed dryly. The idiot was still so far from taking responsibility for his actions. If I had any reservations before, all these events just proved to me that I was making the right decision.“Well, I refuse. Okay. I refuse to sign these damn papers.” He grabbed them, squeezing and throwing them away.“I don’t want any trouble, Michael. Sign the damn papers so we can both move on. After all, you need to divorce me to marry her.” My eyes drifted betw

Elena’s pov.“Here, the divorce papers are ready. He just dropped them off.”Horace said as he settled on the dining table, swiping the documents toward me.“Good. I’m going over there immediately.Let’s get this over with.”“Want me to come with you?”“No, it’s fine. I can certainly handle this myself.”“Alright if you say so.”After breakfast, I went upstairs and had my bath, put on my white pantsuit and matching jacket. An expensive piece Horace had ordered for me.As I put it on, the thought of it gave me tummy butterflies. I wiped it off hurriedly. Control yourself, Elena. Get a leash or something.I muttered the warning to my wolf.It was bad enough she almost made me cross the line the night before.I couldn’t have her creating another pace setter again.I walked towards the living room, where u met Horace already waiting, all donned in a grey, expensive-looking, sharp suit.“Ready?” He mouthed.“Yup. Born ready.”“Good. I’ve already assigned the driver and three guards to go w

Elena’s pov.He stood to his feet sharply, hands in his pockets. “What did you just say, Monica?”This question seemed to jolt her back to reality.“What did you just say?” He repeated, voice so cold, I had never heard it from him before.“I I-I’m so sorry, boss. I didn't mean to say that.”He paused, just staring at her, an unfamiliar rage set in his eyes. Then, shockingly, he smashed his hand on the table hard.“Horace!” I yelled and shot up immediately. Shocked at the sight in front of me because his hand hadn’t met the table, but a glass that was set on it.The red liquid followed almost immediately, pulling down his hand, but he didn’t seem to care or even notice.“If you ever talk about my wife again, Monica. You won’t like what I do to you. You know why I still keep you around. Don’t push it, and control yourself. Do you understand me?”“Y, yes, sir.” She stammered, face completely wrecked in fear.“Get out right now. Don’t come back until I ask for you.”“I’m so sorry, boss, I
