LOGINElena's POV
The shock that played across Michael's face was priceless. Not to mention his parents and Ashanti.
They had their my jaws almost dropping to the ground.
Sure, they hadn't seen that coming. They had expected me to act like the calm and weak housewife I've always been and accept every shit they threw my way.
Something icy and new flickered in Michael's gaze.
"What the hell did you just say?" He rasped as he approached me.
I stood my ground, refusing to buckle or show any signs of the fear that ran through me.
"You heard me correctly. I'm done with this hellhole you call marriage!" I spat.
"You've got to be kidding me, Elena!" His face was tomato red when he reached me.
"This isn't an issue of divorce. I've always wanted kids and you know it. This isn't going to change anything between us. It's only a temporary arrangement."
"We could have an open marriage for two years so I can spend some time with Ashanti because of the baby, of course. Then, everything could go back to normal. Is that too hard to do for me?"
I couldn't even believe he was actually spewing all those gibberish. An open marriage? He must be going soft in the head.
But it was all my fault. I had made him see me for a wife miserable enough to do anything just for crumbs of his affection.
But now, it was all going to change.
"I wasn't making a request or opening a discussion about it!" I stated clearly. "I'll send you the divorce papers as soon as possible, so get ready to break our matebond!"
He cackled with laughter. "Really? You really think you can survive without me? You don't even have a job. You'll only come back begging, Elena. Don't do what you'll regret."
"The only person who's going to regret today is you, Michael." I retorted. "You have no idea what's coming for you!"
Without waiting for his reaction, I turned and walked out of the door. As I walked to the garage, my wolf let out a distressed cry.
The breaking of the matebond was going to bring so much pain to us, but I couldn't care less. I was done being a fool.
I entered my car and tore off the road to the White house.
From now on, I would take my life seriously. Just like they destroyed my chance at being happy, I'll destroy all their plans.
In record time, I reached the white house street. Trepidation settled over me as I parked my car at a parking lot across the street.
At the White house, there were a number of burly looking guards outside so I created a distraction by throwing a stone at side, taking their attention away from the gate.
With their attention gone, I slipped inside and made for the stairs that led to the main floor.
Immediately I got to the main floor, a voice rang out.
"There's an intruder inside!"
It was unmistakably Ashanti's voice. Did she stalk me?
Or she saw my car from across the street?
Before I could process my thoughts, I heard heavy footsteps advancing the stairs so I quickly looked for a hiding spot, but found none.
Just when I thought I was going to get caught, someone tugged at my wrist and pulled me into a room, locking the door immediately.
"Thank you so."
Everything changed the moment I raised my gaze, and I froze.
Standing few millimeters away from me was the Alpha king of crimson moon pack, Horace Andreas.— And he was watching me with an unnerving curiousity.
But that wasn't the only thing that caught my attention.
Rather, it was the scent of sandalwood that was thick in the air, making it clear that he was the one who had saved me yesterday.
That was probably why the nurse had refused to reveal his identity.
As if he could hear my thoughts, he asked.
"What did you leave the hospital already?"
I wanted to answer but my wolf was really giving me a hard time.
Only few minutes ago, she'd been whining in pain in my head, but now, she's purring with desire at the mere sight of Alpha Horace, at his thick scent that filled my head without mercy.
This had never happened before, not even when I'd discovered my matebond with Michael. What was this supposed to mean?
But even as I questioned myself, my gaze raked over him involuntarily, and that was when I realized he was almost nude except for the shorts that hung low on his hips.
Hell! Those shorts should be illegal. They showcased every inch of his taut waist and lines of muscles that led to places my eyes should have no business roaming.
Goddess divine, my eyes really shouldn't roam such places because as far as I knew, I was still mated and married to Michael.
Get a fucking grip! I almost cursed my wolf out.
"Well? Did you have fun checking me out?"
His words made me angry. Not at him, but at myself for having such sudden and unwanted attraction to him.
"I wasn't checking you out." I replied calmly. "I'm a licensed doctor and I heard about your son's condition."
My voice was too smooth to be a lie.
But somehow, he saw through it.
His cocked his head and I could have sworn I saw him smirk amusedly.
"All the doctors have already been dismissed. How come you're just coming?"
Wait, what? I had definitely seen 1 pm in Michael's and Ashanti's chat. Did they change the time after then?
Or was the chat a sort of trap?
"Did you really come here for my son or for me?" He gaze turned heated. "You thought you should repay me for saving you yesterday by giving me something."
There was a way he emphasized "something" that made cheeks burn. I just knew I had to leave his presence.
Without thinking it through, I turned the doorknob and fled outside.
However, a gasp soon left my lips as my gaze trained on the two figures standing outside the door— Michael and Ashanti.
"What— what were you doing in the Alpha's room." Michael was the first to react.
I rolled my eyes. "None of your damn business."
Michael's eyes narrowed, surprise flickering subtly.
But as he opened his mouth to say something, Ashanti beat him to it.
"When I saw your car across street, I knew you were up to no good. Just because of a little issue with your husband, you're already whoring around?"
"You think you're on the same level as Alpha Horace?"
My throat just went dry. Not from pain or hurt but from disbelief. How could someone who slept with another woman's husband even have the right to judge?
"Look, Elena, enough with this your childish tantrum" Michael said. "We'll sort things out when we get home so let's just leave,"
"Is this the way you talk to your wife, Michael?"
Alpha Horace's voice sounded behind me and I almost jumped.
He knew I was Michael's wife? More than that, he knew Michael's full name?
I turned my gaze to Michael now. His eyes held both surprise and confusion, then it was quickly gone as he shrugged.
"I'm sincerely sorry to have disturbed you, Alpha Horace." His voice was unusually respectful.
Then he paused, squinting his eyes. "But, Cousin, what was my wife doing in your room? How do you know her?
Wait, what?
I sucked in a breath.
Michael was Alpha Horace's cousin?
Ethan’s POV“Lila, just hold on. I swear I can’t explain this.”She shook her head slowly, taking a few steps away, eyes still wide with shock. “What the hell— what the hell is going on, Ethan? What is this?” She whispered.I swallowed, turning back to the driver. It was Dave, so I didn’t need a magician to tell me why he was there. My mother had obviously sent him.But that was not even the worst part.By the time I turned back to him, he already had a phone to his ear, saying something. I also did not need a magic chance to know who he was talking to.One of my parents or even both.My heart skipped. I quickly turned back to Little. “Please, don’t go. Just give me a moment to explain. I have a perfect scientific explanation for this.”She shook her head. “I don’t think so. I don’t think there’s anything scientific about this.”“Oh, trust me, there is. There is, okay?”“Are you kidding me? I mean, are you kidding me? You are literally still holding onto it,” she said, staring at my
Ethan’s POVAs soon as I had the chance, I prepared to make my way out of the White House. It was my day off from the hospital, and unlike the past, where I would still go to work as I had nothing interesting to do with my time, I found myself eager to get my days off. This day was one of them, so I wasn’t about to let it go to waste.“Going somewhere?” my mother asked just as I got close to my car. I paused, turning to look at her.We both stared in silence for a moment; no doubt, we had a lot on our minds, but we were each keeping our thoughts to ourselves. My father had not mentioned anything to me, so I had a feeling she hadn’t mentioned the hospital incident. It was also possible that she did, and he just wasn’t ready to address it.They had a way of acting like they didn’t see things, but I had lived with them long enough to know that they did and only decided to address it when they felt like it. I swallowed. “Yes, mother. I have somewhere important to be.”She smirked, steppi
Horace’s POVElena and I were in the room having a discussion about the war and ways we wanted to go about it when the door burst open, and my daughter walked in with quick urgency. I pushed myself up a bit, somewhat surprised by the look on her face.“What is it, Ellie? Why do you look so frantic?”Elena quickly asked her.She walked closer to us, eyes looking sharp. “My goodness, something strange happened at the hospital, and you’re not going to believe it.”“Well, you have to tell us first before we can arrive at that decision. So what happened?” She drew in a deep breath. “I was in Ethan‘s office today, having lunch, when an unfamiliar nurse came to inform me of a visit.”I squinted my eyes. “A visit? For you?”She nodded sharply. “From who?”She scoffed, staring in silence for a while before opening her mouth. “Well, at first, she said it was a classmate of mine.”“But…” I followed immediately.“When I went outside, there weren't any classmates.”“So who was it?” Elena asked.
Elaine’s POV I took a step forward even though everything inside me was telling me to turn around and run far away, pick up the phone, and call my parents immediately. But I didn’t. Instead, I took another step forward. And another and another. Until I got pretty close. However, to my surprise, as I was about to get close, he suddenly took a step backward.I paused, confused, but took another step. Then he mirrored my movements, going backwards.I frowned but didn’t stop… Neither did he.We continued like this without even caring that there were people around, probably looking at us.I paused, asking myself why I wasn’t even doing something so ridiculous. I mean, if you really wanted to see me, why was he moving away? But my questions came a bit too late. I was already away from everyone’s sight and standing in a lonely hallway alone with him. I pressed my teeth together. “Hello, what do you want?” I murmured at first.I got more response from him, and for some reason, I wasn’t rea
Elaine’s POVI was in Ethan’s office, having my break and enjoying the silence away from him, when a knock came on his door.“Come in,” I said without putting in too much effort, as I believed they were here for my brother, so only prepared to disappoint them. The door pushed open, and a lady in a nurse's uniform walked in. She wasn’t surprised to see me, which raised some questions with me.“Your highness, good afternoon.”“Good afternoon, Nurse. My brother is not here.”“Oh, I know that. I’m not here for him, I’m here for you.”I frowned in confusion. “Here for me?”“Yes.”I looked around to make sure she was really speaking to me. “Uhm, is there a problem?”“Not at all, your highness. But someone is here to see you. They’ve requested your presence in the lobby.”My presence?Who could it be?“Did they drop an ID or state their identity because I’m really not expecting anyone?”“Not really, your highness. But I think they are someone you know.”I pulled my head back, more confused.
Elaine’s POVMy brother turned to me, looking surprised, which only confused me further because by the reaction of everyone on the dinner table, I could tell that something was wrong.“Are you trying to say this was the woman appearing in your dreams?”I nodded because I was sure she was the one appearing to me and showing me things like they were about to happen, and we had to prepare against it.“Yes, She is.”He scoffed, turning back to my mother. “Mother, are you guys playing a prank on me? Please, if this is some kind of joke, just stop it now.”I squinted my brows, wondering why he would think we were joking about such a matter. “Why the hell would we joke about this?”“Calm down, Ellie. Your brother needs time to process this,” my mother quickly replied.“Ethan, are you okay?” My father followed, and in that moment, I was certain that something was really wrong. The quietness was absolutely abnormal. The sudden seriousness on the table was also far from ordinary. My brother ch
Elena’s POV.“Who would do something like this?” Horace growledAnd I knew the answer to it. There was only one person who would do something like this.“Ashanti?” Monica said.“And you’re absolutely right.” I turned to Horace. “This is her attempt at revenge on me.”“But she’s digging her grave wi
Michael’s POV.I watched as that bastard Horace drove away with my wife, my own mate.I felt so infuriated that I wanted to destroy something, anything.I slammed my foot against the wheel of my car, but it did nothing to help; instead it only added more pain to the one I was already feeling.I ben
Horace’s POVWhen Elena talked about being scared a few days earlier, I was able to comfort and calm her down. Not because I was anxious then, but because, for some unknown reason, I just had fate in my ability. And I still maintain my fate with her to date. However, in the heart of the moment, I wa
Ashanti’s POV“How the hell did they find out, Peter? I did everything you told me to do.” I barked at my doctor friend.“The morning sickness?”“Faked it perfectly. To the last act.”“The sleepiness and aching feet?”“I did everything, Peter. Everything you asked me to do. Yet someone suspected me
