Isabella did not sleep again.

Every time she closed her eyes, she felt hands dragging her backward into darkness.

Every shadow looked like death.

Every sound felt like a threat.

She sat curled on the bed, knees drawn to her chest, staring at the locked doors while armed guards patrolled just outside. The mansion no longer felt like a palace.

It felt like a fortress.

A prison.

Dominic stood by the window, speaking quietly into his phone. His voice was cold. Deadly.

“I want his network burned to the ground,” he said. “Every ally. Every supplier. Every hidden account.”

A pause.

“No survivors.”

He ended the call and turned slowly.

His gaze softened when it found her, but the darkness in his eyes remained.

“Come here,” he said gently.

She hesitated.

Then moved.

He opened his arms, and she stepped into them.

The moment she did, something inside her broke.

She clutched his shirt, shaking as silent sobs tore through her chest.

“I’m scared,” she whispered.

His arms closed around her instantly.

“I know,” he murmured.

“I can’t live like this,” she said. “Always waiting to die.”

His jaw tightened.

“You won’t.”

She pulled back slightly, searching his face.

“You don’t know that.”

“I control everything,” he said. “I will control this too.”

Fear and comfort tangled painfully inside her.

“You can’t control death,” she whispered.

He lowered his forehead to hers.

“I can,” he said softly. “For you.”

Something about his certainty terrified her more than the attack itself.

By morning, the estate had transformed.

More guards.

More weapons.

More cameras.

Steel shutters sealed every window.

Drones hovered overhead.

The mansion was no longer just protected.

It was armed.

Dominic barely left Isabella’s side.

He ate beside her.

Worked beside her.

Slept beside her.

He watched her constantly, not casually, but intensely, as if memorizing her existence.

It was suffocating.

And yet it made her feel safe.

“You don’t trust anyone,” she murmured as he escorted her through the hallway.

“I trust control.”

“That’s not healthy.”

He stopped walking.

Turned.

His gaze pinned her in place.

“Neither is burying women I love,” he said quietly.

Her breath hitched.

Love.

Again.

The word haunted her.

“I don’t want to be your weakness,” she whispered.

His fingers curled around her wrist.

“You already are.”

Later that evening, Dominic took her to a hidden wing of the estate.

A massive steel door scanned his retina before sliding open.

Inside was an underground control room — screens covering every wall, displaying security feeds, city cameras, satellite tracking, biometric data.

Her stomach twisted.

“This is terrifying.”

“This is safety,” he replied.

He guided her to a central console.

“Every camera in this city is routed here,” he said. “Every financial system. Every weapon supplier. Every criminal network.”

Her chest tightened.

“You built this?”

“Yes.”

“For what?”

He turned to her.

“For war.”

Silence fell.

“You live like this?” she whispered. “Every day?”

His expression darkened.

“Since I was sixteen.”

Something in his tone made her heart ache.

“What happened?”

He hesitated... then

“They killed my mother,” he said. “Slowly. Publicly. As a warning.”

Her breath caught.

“They fed her poison over six months. By the time we realized, it was too late.”

Pain flashed through his eyes.

“I swore no one would ever touch what was mine again.”

A chill crawled down her spine.

“And now?”

“And now,” he said quietly, “they touched you.”

The air thickened.

Something dangerous awakened inside him.

That night, Isabella dreamed of fire.

Of blood.

Of shadows chasing her through endless halls.

She woke screaming.

Dominic was instantly there.

“It’s okay,” he whispered, pulling her close. “You’re safe.”

But even as he said it, alarms erupted throughout the mansion.

Red lights flooded the halls.

Security shouts echoed.

Dominic stiffened.

“What now?” Isabella whispered.

A guard burst in.

“Sir. Breach in the underground tunnel system. They’re inside the estate.”

Isabella’s blood turned to ice.

“How?” she gasped.

Dominic’s eyes burned.

“There’s a traitor.”

He grabbed her hand.

“Stay with me. No matter what happens.”

Gunfire erupted.

Screams echoed.

The mansion descended into chaos.

They ran through hidden corridors as bullets tore through marble behind them.

Dominic fired without hesitation, precise and lethal.

Men fell.

Blood sprayed.

Isabella barely had time to breathe.

They reached the underground panic room.

A steel chamber.

Dominic slammed the door shut, locking them inside.

The silence was deafening.

Her legs gave out.

He caught her before she hit the floor.

She clung to him, sobbing.

“I can’t do this,” she cried. “I can’t live like this.”

His grip tightened.

“You will,” he said. “Because I won’t let you die.”

The door suddenly shuddered.

A powerful explosion rocked the walls.

Dust rained down.

Isabella screamed.

“They’re breaking in!”

Dominic grabbed her face.

“Listen to me,” he said urgently. “If anything happens, you run. There’s an exit tunnel behind the medical wing. You do not stop. You do not look back.”

“No,” she cried. “I won’t leave you.”

“You will,” he snapped. “That’s an order.”

The door cracked.

Metal groaned.

Voices shouted outside.

“They’re almost through!” a guard screamed over the comm.

Dominic pressed his forehead to hers.

“If I die,” he whispered, “remember that I loved you in the only way I know how... violently, completely, and without mercy.”

Tears streamed down her face.

“Don’t say that.”

The door exploded inward.

Gunfire erupted.

Smoke filled the room.

Dominic shoved Isabella behind him, firing into the chaos.

A bullet tore into his side.

He grunted.

Blood soaked his shirt.

“Dominic!” she screamed.

He staggered but kept shooting.

Men fell.

Screams echoed.

Then everything went silent.

Bodies littered the floor.

Smoke drifted.

Dominic dropped to one knee.

Isabella rushed forward, catching him as he collapsed.

“Stay with me,” she sobbed. “Please. You promised.”

His blood stained her hands.

His breathing turned shallow.

“I told you,” he murmured weakly, “I’d protect you… even if it kills me.”

Her heart shattered.

“Don’t you dare die,” she cried.

Sirens wailed closer.

Footsteps thundered.

Help was coming.

But Dominic’s eyes were already losing focus.

And in that moment, Isabella realized—

The monster she feared…

Was the only thing standing between her and death.

And she might be about to lose him.

The courtyard no longer felt like a battlefield. It felt like the aftermath of something that had finally reached its end.The tension that once pressed in from every direction had loosened. The men who had surrounded the space stood back now, uncertain, no longer driven by command or certainty. Victor remained where he was, silent, watching, but no longer in control. For the first time since all of this beganEverything was still. But the stillness didn’t feel empty. It felt earned.Alexander stood in front of Isabella, close enough that nothing else mattered. Not the damage around them. Not the eyes still watching. Not the past that had brought them here.Just this moment.Just her.Just the truth he had finally spoken. The air between them was different now.No tension. No force. No control.Only choice.Isabella studied him quietly. Not the man he had been when he first stepped into her life. Not the one who controlled every outcome, who made decisions for her, who kept truths hid

  • Bound by a billion hearts   Episode 149 The Moment He Finally Tells the Truth

The shift was undeniable.Victor felt it in the first second after Alexander moved again. Not just faster. Not just stronger.Different.The hesitation that had been there moments ago had disappeared completely, replaced by something far more dangerous. There was no split focus anymore, no divided instinct pulling him between the fight and the woman behind him.He had become singular.Locked in.Certain.Victor blocked the first strike, but the impact traveled through his arm, forcing him to take half a step back. It was small, almost unnoticeable, but it was the first time he had been pushed since the fight began. His eyes sharpened.“Interesting,” he murmured.Alexander didn’t respond. He moved again. This time the attack came from a different angle, faster, tighter, designed not to overwhelm but to break structure. Victor countered, but the rhythm had changed. He wasn’t controlling the pace anymore. He was keeping up.Barely.Isabella stood where she had placed herself, her breathi

  • Bound by a billion hearts   Episode 148 The Moment the Truth Stops Hurting

The courtyard felt smaller now.Not because the walls had moved.Because everything inside it had shifted. The balance. The control. The outcome that once seemed inevitable.Victor saw it.Of course he did.The moment Alexander stopped fighting like a man with nothing to lose and started moving like a man who refused to lose anything at all. That difference mattered. It changed everything.Isabella felt it too, even as Daniel pulled her back toward the edge of the courtyard. Her body protested with every step, pain radiating from where the hit had landed, but she didn’t slow him down.Didn’t tell him to stop.Because she knew. This part mattered.Distance didn’t mean separation. Not anymore. Her eyes never left Alexander. And he didn’t look away for long either.Even as he moved.Even as he fought. There was a connection now that didn’t break just because space existed between them.Daniel guided her behind a low concrete barrier, positioning himself slightly in front of her.“You sta

  • Bound by a billion hearts   Episode 147 The Moment He Refuses to Let Her Break

The world narrowed to the space between them.Everything else fell away. The noise. The movement. The fight that still raged around them.None of it mattered in that single, suspended moment where Isabella’s weight pressed into him and her breath came uneven against his chest.Alexander didn’t think.Didn’t calculate.Didn’t plan.He just reacted. His arms tightened around her, steadying her before she could fall further, his body instinctively shielding hers as another attacker moved too close. He didn’t even look. The response was immediate.Brutal.Efficient.The man hit the ground before the motion fully registered. But Alexander’s attention never left her.Not now.Not anymore.“Look at me.”His voice came low.Controlled.But there was something under it now.Something sharp.Something that refused to break.Isabella’s eyes lifted slowly. The pain was there.Clear.Undeniable.But so was something else.Something stronger.“I told you not to do that,” he said. The words came out

  • Bound by a billion hearts   Episode 146 The Moment He Chooses to Fall

The silence before it broke felt heavier than the fight that came before it.Not empty. Not calm.Waiting.Victor stood across from them, his expression composed, his posture relaxed in a way that didn’t match the tension pressing in from every side. The men who had surrounded the courtyard had pulled back just enough to give space. Not out of mercy.Out of certainty. This was the part he wanted to see.The part he had been building toward.Isabella felt it settle into her bones. This wasn’t about numbers anymore. This wasn’t about strategy. This was personal. Her breath slowed, her pulse steadying as she stepped slightly forward, placing herself just enough in front of Alexander to make a point. He noticed immediately.“You don’t stand in front of me,” he said quietly. Not harsh. Not controlling. But firm. Her eyes didn’t leave Victor.“Then stop giving me a reason to.”A faint flicker crossed his expression. Not irritation.Something deeper.Something he didn’t say.Victor’s smile w
