Chapter 1

Five years ago.

LYNEXIA

Some may doubt that true love exists but my life is a testament to true love.

From a young age, I met my soulmate. Despite being unaware that he was my mated partner we had an undeniable chemistry. Our first encounter was a page ripped out of a fairytale. It was love at first sight for us.

We were a match made by the moon goddess. And today, I'm getting married to the love of my life.

I look over the sea shimmering under the cloudless sky. The faint sound of laughter and music from the town of Shadow Pack drifts up the cliff.

Fields of green stretch towards the horizon fitted with various colors of wildflowers in every corner.

I'm draped in a crisp white wedding dress designed sparingly with intricate gemstones gifted to me by Dimitri.

Today, I will be tying the knot with my first love and it should make my heart hammers with a joyous rhythm against my ribs.

Yet, the chilling memory of the nightmare I had last night fills me with dread. I can't stop thinking about it.

Anytime, I close my eyes, I see it. I hear it.

Blood. Scream.

It keeps haunting me.

Dimitri reassured me that it is nothing but I can stop thinking about it.

I'm a Luna blessed by the moon goddess with the power of foresight, and this is the first time, I have seen glimpses of the future.

A Luna is blessed by the moon goddess with three powers; healing, foresight, and weather control power. In rare conditions, some Luna have all while some don't have any.

The creak of the oak door sends a jolt through me. "Zephyr what—." I start, but my voice dies in my throat as my eyes meet the figure leaning on the door

Dimitri.

The memory of my nightmare becomes fleeting at the sight of Dimitri.

My breath catches, and raw emotions flood me.

My eyes dance around his big form, tracing the sharp lines of his tailored suit that cling to his lean body like a second skin. His usually wind-tousled hair is slicked back, revealing the sharp angles of his jaw.

He is so handsome.

My gaze moves to his face to catch his dark ocean-blue eyes devouring me whole. My lips tinge and I fix them between my teeth. His smile widens with mischief as if he can see the desire humming through me.

We have eagerly anticipated our first night together and today is the day. Though we live in the modern era, shadow packs adhere to old customs which have to do with couples only spending the night with each other on the night of their wedding.

"It isn't good for the husband to see his bride before the vows are taken on the day of the ceremony," I say.

"I couldn't resist the temptation of seeing you." His husky voice caresses my skin. As he advances, my heart does a frantic flip-flop in my chest. "I miss you."

How did I get so lucky to have this perfect man as my own?

"It's bad luck you know." I tease him, though, my voice betrays a tremor of desire. Tradition in the Shadow pack says the bride and groom remain apart until the ceremony though I don't believe in such arhaic things.. "They say it brings misfortune."

The scent of his cologne, a mix of sandalwood and citrus, invades my senses when he stops mere inches from me, the fabric of his suit grazing my gown.

His hand gently grazes my neck, tracing a slow path toward my cheeks. My pulse becomes faster as the air seems to hold its breath. "You are stunningly beautiful." He murmurs.

"Thank you." My voice is barely above a whisper. What is wrong with me? I have been with this man all my life but somehow he still makes me blush so hard.

"I can't wait to take off the dress of you." He says, sending a rush of heat through me. Now my face is a deep shade of red.

From nowhere, the memory of the nightmare sears through my mind again, and I pulse my lips.

Dimitri ducks his head so that he can see me. "what is wrong?"

"The dream I had," I say.

"It's just a dream," Dimitri says. "Even if it comes to past, I will be here to protect you and the pack will protect our people."

He says it so confidently, that I can't help but relax.

Leaning closer, his thumb brushes the corner of my lips, sending electricity flying around me "May I?" he asks.

"Zephyr will have your head if you smudge my makeup," I warn, though secretly craving his kiss

A deep chuckle escapes his lips. "If that's the price for kissing you, then I'll gladly pay it."

As his lips near mine, his breath danced on the skin of my lips. I close my eyes, my entire being shaking in anticipation, yearning for his lips. The world fades until it's just him and the soft sigh escaping my mouth.

But then, the loud jarring screech of the door interrupts us, startling me to my core.

What the hell?
