LOGIN“Elara what the f**k are you doing here?” Dorian yelled, his voice echoing in the room like thunder.
I tried to say something, I tried to protest, but I couldn't, my lips trembling as I fought back the overwhelming feeling building up in my stomach. My gaze traveling from Dorian to Alexis. Just when I thought our marriage was getting better, now this? “I was going to tell you, but not yet,” he said, zipping up his pants as Alexis got down from his office table. He was going to tell me??? I realized then and there that I had already lost a game I didn’t even know I was playing. “How long have you both been doing this?” I finally summed up the courage to ask the question that's been bugging me. “It's been a year,” Alexis answered and my heart immediately dropped to my stomach. I couldn't breathe, it was like the oxygen wasn't reaching my lungs, tears pooled in my eyes threatening to spill. She didn't even look or sound remorseful. “You know, I'm actually glad you saw this,” she continued. “It saves me the trouble of pretending I haven’t been his from the very start. You always thought the world revolves around you, like you're more special than me, you have no idea how long I've been waiting to humble you…..Dorian complains about you all the time, how you made him feel trapped, how you never knew how to please him. He’d come to me for everything you couldn’t give him… and let’s just say, I never left him wanting. Every kiss he gave you was borrowed. Every night he spent with you, he was thinking about me. You were living in my shadow, and you didn’t even know it. You were his obligation, Elara. But I’m his choice. He chose me, and he will always choose me over you.” Her words, like fire, glazed over my skin, burning into nerves I didn’t even know existed until the ache spread through me. She stood beside Dorian, smiling at him as he smiled back, and the next second, he pulled her in for a long and passionate kiss, not caring that I was standing there. She giggled, and spoke. “I think you should tell her now.” Tell me what? “Alexis gave me something you couldn't give to me for years. She's pregnant with my child,” Dorian spoke, gently rubbing her belly as they smiled at each other. “Elara, I'm divorcing you and making her my wife.” I blinked. Once. Twice. My breath stalled in my throat. I catch my husband cheating and he ends up divorcing me? Not only that, he's also fathered a baby with my best friend? His words hit like a bomb, exploding and shattering my insides. The world went silent. The air suddenly became heavier. All I could hear was the heavy pound of my heartbeat, loud and violent in my ears as my head throbbed. No. No, this wasn’t happening. This was a nightmare, a sick, twisted nightmare, and if I just closed my eyes, I’d wake up and everything would go back to normal. But my eyes stayed open. And nothing changed. My greatest fear unraveling before me like a curse. “Dorian I gave you my entire life yesterday, I signed over half a billion dollars worth of money and assets over to you, why did you take everything when you knew you were going to divorce me?” “Because that was our plan all along,” Alexis smirked. “I gave you the idea for a reason Elara and you fell right into our trap, so easily.” I gasped, and It hit me then. Every conversation, every little piece of advice she’d given me… it was all part of their plan. They’d been in it together from the start, and I’d walked right into it, smiling like an idiot because I trusted them. “Here, I'll advise you sign it now, then we can get rid of you for good.” Alexis took the divorce papers from the table and handed it to me, smiling from ear to ear. Seeing her smiling so proudly made me sick. All of a sudden something dangerous and feral exploded in me, my eyes burned with rage as I clenched my jaw and I lunged at her, yelling at the top of my voice, desperate to draw blood. My fingers brushed her shoulders slightly before Dorian pulled her behind him and pushed me backwards with so much force I lost my balance and hit my head against the wall. “Baby, are you okay? Did the b**ch touch you?” Dorian asked Alexis, his eyes filled with concern as he cupped her face. You would think she was the one who was thrown across the room. Dorian didn't care to hide the fact that I didn’t mean anything to him anymore, he was rubbing it in my face, and now….I was done. Done putting him first, done tiptoeing around his moods, done breaking myself just to keep a marriage that felt like walking barefoot over glass. He’d been sleeping with my best friend for a year, and he didn’t even have the decency to pretend he was sorry. “I’m not staying in this sham of a marriage with someone as pathetic as you, Dorian.” I rose to my feet, snatched the papers from Alexis’s smug hand, signed it without a second thought, and flung them at his face. “You wanted a divorce? You’ve got it.” Dorian’s lips curled into a slow, cruel smirk, his chuckle low and poisonous. “Elara you’re nothing without me, and I can't wait to watch you shatter… piece by piece.” I bit the inner corner of my mouth, my eyes fixed on him, taking short and shallow breaths in, tears threatening to spill out, but I won't cry in front of him, not anymore. I stormed out of the office, trying to hold the tears back as I ran into the elevator and to my car. The moment I was alone, everything hit me at once, the betrayal, the divorce, the fact that the two people I trusted most had destroyed me and stolen from me. I let out a feral scream, pounding the steering wheel again and again as the tears poured uncontrollably, blurring my vision and I stayed like that for what felt like forever, completely breaking down. He can’t just take everything from me and build a new life with her. He can’t walk away like nothing ever happened, while I’m stripped of everything, not even a dollar to my name. I won’t let him. I lifted my eyes to his office building, my chest burning with disdain. “You’re not getting away with this, Dorian.” With that, I started the ignition and drove off. I couldn't go back to our home, and with nowhere to go, I ended up at a hotel. I drank an insane amount of Vodka at the hotel bar, just to numb my emotions a bit, but it ended up frying my brain instead. I couldn't see or think properly, the walls spinning around me, but I managed to drag myself to my room. “Room 1167,” my eyes scanned the key card. My brain was foggy but I was still able to locate my room and I got in, shutting the door behind me. I stripped off my clothes, ready to dive into bed, when a deep masculine voice rumbled through the room. “What are you doing?” I jolted and yelled, heart slamming in my chest as I stared at the dark figure sitting on the couch at the far end. “What the hell are you doing in my room?” I snapped, fumbling in my purse for my pepper spray and aiming it at him. But he didn't say anything, he just stood up and took few steps towards me, and I could see him clearly now, is that…. “Dorian?” What was he doing here? “I'm sorry,” he said, in a low deep tone. And at that moment I froze, did he just apologize to me. Whatever anger and detest I had for him evaporated slowly as his words hit my ears. Was this really happening? Did he finally come back to his senses? He finally realised how much he loves me and he came to apologise. I didn't know when tears started flowing from my eyes as I let out a soft chuckle, covering my mouth with the back of my hands. I collapsed into his arms, hugging him so tightly and kissed him, but…..he wasn't kissing me back. Or does he not want to be here? “It's okay you don't have to,” I was about taking a step back from him when he pulled me to himself, his lips crashing into mine in a split second. It felt magical, and his kiss…. his kiss was…..different. I was feeling emotions I haven't felt in a long time, maybe it was the alcohol or maybe it was because this whole thing was so surreal. His tongue went deeper and deeper, exploring every inch of my mouth, his tongue entangled in mine, I was drowning in the kiss. Then I started feeling lightheaded, my legs getting wobbly, the light closing in on me, thanks to me being drunk out of my mind. He probably felt how my body was giving up on me, and he carried me to the bed and lay above me, all while not breaking the hungry and sultry kiss. Slowly I felt myself getting lost and lost until…….darkness. **** My eyes fluttered open slowly, as I savoured the feeling of the soft bed, the satin sheets rubbing gently on my skin. I yawned softly and then memories from last night started flooding in. I couldn't help but smile as I thought of the fact that Dorian came back for me. I turned to give him a peck, but my breath caught in my throat and I immediately jumped off the bed the moment I spotted him. I gulped, my head spinning. The man in my bed….. wasn’t Dorian.“You're joking,” I whispered under a shaky breath as I lifted my head for a brief second, catching only a glimpse of the satisfied smile on his face before tears completely blurred my vision.I had faith in Axel that he would help me get back what Dorian stole from me, but never in a million years would I have thought it would be this soon.My inheritance from my parents, every dime they left me, all transferred back to me in my name. Axel made the impossible possible again.“I don't even know what to say…this…this feels like a dream,” my voice came out in a broken whisper. “Thank you so much,” I said, gently wiping the tears from my face.He nodded his head and gave me a soft smile.Getting revenge for what Dorian and Alexis did to me had been my greatest drive, but now, with my baby on the way, and my inheritance back in my possession, every other thing felt pointless. The only thing I could think of was providing a healthy home for my baby. Not revenge, not payback, but focusing
*****Elara's Pov*****After the most refreshing sleep last night, I spent the whole day prepping for my dinner with Axel.My phone dinged, pulling my attention to the name flashing over the screen, it was Cyrus. Because of the launch and work, we haven't had the time to catch up. He sent a few texts during and after my company launch but we've not been able to have a proper conversation.I stared at myself in the mirror one more time. I was almost done with my makeup, and with just a few finishing touches, I’d be good to go.I picked up the phone and opened Cyrus' message, “Elara we need to meet, there's something very important you need to know, I can't tell you over the phone, call me as soon as you can.” An uneasy feeling suddenly settled in my stomach, my insides twisting and turning from the sense of urgency and danger looming all over his text, could it be about Dorian? Maybe he knows about Dorian's attempt to k*ll me yesterday? Beads of sweat slowly started forming on my f
*****Axel's POV*****“I don't need a hit man, I'll do it myself.” Dorian crossed the line coming for Elara, he has no idea, but he just signed his death deal.“What do you think would happen if it gets out that Axel Thorne, Elara's husband murdered his blood brother, what do you think would happen to her reputation she's been working so hard to build,” Knox said, arms folded across his chest.“No one's going to find out…I won't tell if you don't,” I responded, looking up at him as I cocked my gun. “So there's really no changing your mind?”“That dimwitted swine came for my wife, he deserves to f**king die,” it's high time I did it anyway, he could have taken an innocent life again today, his antics have gone way too far.“You called her your wife.”“What?”He let out a quiet exhale and shook his head, “Elara…you called Elara your wife, sometimes it's just like you forget it's not a real marriage.” The next second, a loud thud erupted in the room as Knox's back hit the wall with s
“What are you doing here?” My voice came out in a broken whisper, my throat tightening as fear crawled up my veins.“Shut the fuck up!” He cursed through gritted teeth. My heart was pounding so hard against my chest it almost physically hurt. The fact that Dorian was standing in front of me right now, with a gun aimed at my face meant my life was literally in his hands.Deep down, I knew he had no reason to keep me alive, he wouldn't hesitate to kill me and that made my situation even worse.“Dorian please we can talk this out I promise...” “I said shut the f**k up!” He yelled again, obviously irritated by my effort at trying to plead with him.“You looked so high and mighty at your company launch, acting like you were too important, and everyone else was below you, like I was below you. Now it's almost like it's a different person in front of me right now. Pleading and begging with so much fear in your eyes.”“No matter how you're feeling, we can talk things out, I promise you.” I
*****Axel's Pov*****A feeling of discomfort built up in my stomach as I closed the door to her room, the feeling getting stronger, the further I got.Like a part of me didn't want to leave…but I had work to do.“You might have a little situation down there,” Knox said from inside my room.My eyes swiftly flew down and I caught a glimpse of the bulge straining against my zip.“Shut up!” I sneered at him and quickly pushed past him, going straight into the room.“What are you doing in here anyways?” I asked, with an obvious displeasure in my voice. Knox always strolled in and out of my room whenever he wanted to, so asking him what he was doing in here wasn't a serious question, I was just embarrassed by what he'd seen…something he wouldn't have if he hadn't been snooping around in my room. “I have good news!” he exclaimed and did a little dance. And why is he so excited about it?“Go on,” I spoke in a strong and neutral tone, sitting down behind my desk at the inner corner of the
“Please,” I whispered.“You can do better than that,” he said, trapping my nipples in between his index and mid-finger twisting it in a sultry and seductive torture.I gasped, trying so hard to suppress the moan threatening to slip out of my lips.“Plea…please Daddy.”He chuckled, “interesting choice of words.”I was about to speak but I choked on my words the moment I felt his strong fingers slightly graze over my underwear.I took a deep inhale. It was just a light touch, but it was enough to make me jerk back like electric. He leaned down, lips softly brushing my ears as he planted a soft kiss on them, “Baby, I need you to relax,” he whispered. My body immediately responded to his words as I freed up my contracted muscles, relaxing completely on the bed.“Good girl.”He pulled away slowly so his face could be directly above mine, my eyes locked on his.His eyes were dark and broody, barely visible under the dim light, but I could still see the desire in them. His finger connected t
