Elara's Pov

*****

I clutched the paper in my hand, my entire life staring right back at me, and I was about to sign it all away for the chance to make my husband love me again.

“It's okay Elara, you're doing it for a good reason,” my bestfriend Alexis said, patting my back slowly. It was almost like she knew I needed the reassurance.

“What if he still doesn't change? then I would have lost everything for nothing,” my shoulders dropped as I thought about what was at stake

My marriage to my husband wasn't like it used to be before, and with each passing day, I could feel him moving further and further away from me. No matter what I tried, he didn't change, he doesn't talk to me, he doesn't touch me, he doesn't even look at me.

On some days I even felt like he despised me, like he didn't love me anymore.

But Alexis always made sure I didn't get consumed by those thoughts.

I know Dorian loves me, he always has, our marriage is just going through a phase and everything will go back to normal soon enough.

She brushed my hair falling down on my face, pinning it at the back of my ears. “I've known Dorian for almost as long as you've known him. He's going to fall in love with you a thousand times over If you do this. it will remind him of just how much you love him and how far you're willing to go to make him happy. You're about to save his company from going under the water, Elara,” Alexis gave me a reassuring smile, and all of a sudden I felt better.

She's always been so supportive of me and everything I do and always been here for me all these years, loving me like the sister I never had.

I chuckled at the thought of what she said, Dorian falling in love with me ten times over, that's the only thing I want in this life and I'll do anything for that to happen.

I took out a pen, and with a deep breath in, I lowered my fingers slowly till it kissed the surface of the document and swiftly penned my signature.

“It's done.”

My entire life, my 500 million dollar inheritance from my parents when they died, the only thing of value I owned left, signed over to my husband, Dorian Thorne.

Alexis beamed with joy as she hugged me tightly, screaming, “Yessssss.”

With how excited she was, you would think it was her marriage I was saving.

After spending a few hours together, Alexis left to visit her boyfriend, Cyrus. And I stayed on the couch for hours waiting for Dorian to come back home.

My eyes lit up the moment I heard Dorian's car come in and I sped to meet him at the door.

“How was work today?” I asked, smiling at him as I opened the door.

He nodded his head and walked past me heading towards the stairs.

“I have something for you,” I yelled, but he just ignored me.

The next minute I heard the door to his room open and clicked shut behind him.

I slowly walked towards the room with the document in my hand, taking deep breaths in and out trying to calm my nerves.

Standing in front of his door, I knocked repeatedly, but he didn't open up.

Maybe I'll just do the big reveal some other time.

I turned to leave when all of a sudden the door cracked open.

“Elara, what do you want?” He questioned, with the ever smug look on his face.

He brushed his hair backwards with his fingers, his sea green eyes locked on mine, the same eyes that swept me off my feet the first day we met, and his ever striking features that made his face the most pleasant thing anyone could ever set their eyes on.

“I have a gift for you,” I gave him a soft smile, but he just rolled his eyes.

“I honestly don't have the time for th…..”

“Here,” I stretched my arm out, handing him the document.

His face scrunched up, I couldn't tell if it was out of curiosity or displeasure.

He took the document and opened it.

The moment he realised what it was, he adjusted his stance then looked up at me.

He swiftly flipped through the pages to the last page where my signature was.

Then it clicked. I could see the smile slowly forming on his face.

“It’s all yours now, my inheritance from my parents,” I smiled back at him.

“You're joking,”

I shook my head. “But I’m not. The money, the estate, I'm giving it all to you, it can help with the budget constraints issues you've been having with your company, you'll finally be able to expand, it's what you've always wanted,” I was beaming with happiness seeing how his face lit up. He hasn't smiled at me for months but now he's looking at me with his full teeth on show.

“Elara I love you so much!” he hugged me so tight, with the brightest smile on his face.

I didn't get the chance to respond before he lifted me off the ground and I wrapped my legs around him.

My heart was racing, I was scared and anxious. I haven't been this close to him in ages, and thanks to the linen night wear I was wearing, my skin was softly grazing over his.

How I miss how this felt.

“You're the best wife anyone could ever ask for.”

I blushed so hard at his words and the next second his lips crashed into mine as he carried me into the room, and for the first time in months, we made love.

*****

I bit my lips and pressed my legs together as flashbacks from me and Dorian's session last night flooded my mind.

I wish he was here so we could do it again, but he already left for work.

That was one of the best s*x I've ever had.

I successfully won my husband's heart back thanks to my bestfriend’s genius advice.

Signing the inheritance charter was her Idea, it sounded crazy at first, but now I'm glad I took it.

I owe her a shopping treat.

I got cleaned up and changed into a corporate outfit.

I was going to surprise Dorian at his office with takeout from his favourite restaurant.

Now that things were back to normal, we could go back to the old days where I brought him lunch everyday at work.

I called my best friend multiple times while driving to Dorian's office, to tell her the good news and how her advice worked, but it kept going straight to voicemail.

I walked into the elevator in Dorian's office building with his lunch in one hand and my phone in the other.

I dialed his number to let him know I was here, but he didn't pick up.

“Why's everyone missing my calls,” I scoffed and dropped my phone back in my purse.

The elevator dinged and I stepped outside.

Dorian's office door was at the far end of the hallway, directly opposite the Elevator.

And I could tell his doors were open, he never left his doors open.

Or was he not in?

My heels clacked against the tiles echoing in the silent hallway and the closer I got to his door, I started hearing soft voices, but they sounded odd, like it wasn't from a conversation.

I walked slowly to the door trying to make as little noise as possible. And I placed my ears on it and now I could tell the people inside weren't having a conversation.

It sounded like a…..

“Fuck…you're so tight and wet,” Dorian's voice echoed out of the office followed by soft moans, coming from a woman.

Was my ear playing tricks on me? What was I hearing?

I gulped, heart thumping against my chest, I didn't know what to expect on the other side of the doors but I knew it wasn't good.

The words that hit my ears next sent my brain spiralling out of control.

“I had the worst sex of my life yesterday, but your sweet and juicy p***y is all the compensation I need.” Dorian's voice came in a low grumble.

Was he talking about our sex last night?

And in such a demeaning way?

I could hear bodies slapping against each other and the wet sounds of his d**k going in and out of someone.

I couldn't take it anymore as I pushed the door open.

And I was beyond shocked when I saw the person under my husband.

My best friend, Alexis.

“You had to see the look on his face, like he had seen a ghost,” I screamed, laughing in excitement as I climbed the stairs to my room, my heels in one hand as Axel followed behind me.“Did you see him? did you see the horror written all over his face the moment he spotted you?” I turned to Axel, smiling ear to ear. My expression, a direct opposite of the one on his face.“Watch your step,” he said, completely ignoring my question.I rolled my eyes and took a step when….“Whoaaaaaa,” I screamed as I missed my foot and immediately lost my balance. Did he say something to you?” Cyrus placed his hands on my shoulders and turned me to look at him.“It's just….” I hesitated for a second then continued, “he's been nice to me, and…and I don't know…..maybe we're just misunderstanding him,” I lifted my gaze to meet Cyrus eyes.“Elara, I don't know what he's done or what he's said to you, but trust me, it's all part of his games. I tried to suppress the memory from last night as I sat with Axel in the back of his car.The butler had asked me to get dressed, I was to accompany Axel somewhere and now we were in his car, on our way to God knows where. With the nervous tension from our encounter last night still clinging to me, I couldn’t find the courage to say even a single word to him.“I didn't see anything,” he spoke, breaking the awkward silence. “What?”“Last night, I didn't see anything when your robe fell,” he said, turning to look at me.I quickly tore my gaze from his and fixed my eyes on the road as I gulped, letting out a sigh of relief.Thank God!The car pulled up to a towering skyscraper that seemed to touch the sky, its glass exterior glowing under the sunlight like a jewel. The moment we stepped inside, I couldn't help but gawk at what I was looking at, the interior was even more stunning. I didn't want to believe it at first, that my parents were alive, that Axel had something to do with it, but with the evidence Cyrus showed me, there was no denying the fact. For the past three years, I've been in and out of therapy, struggling to accept the fact that I was an orphan, mourning my parents who were in fact alive. Just because some inconsiderate evil monster who saw humans as pawns decided to abduct my parents, and fake their deaths for selfish reasons.“Elara you have to play it cool, confronting him is out of the question,” Cyrus insisted.“Yeah I know that, if he could make my parents disappear from prison, there's no predicting what he can do now that he's out.” I got up from the bed and folded my hands, pacing back and forth.“We need to get enough information and more solid evidence and bring it before the FBA, we might not be strong enough to take him ourselves but the American government can help us do that.” Cyrus was right, going against him ourselves was sui

One minute I was being discarded by my husband, and the next, I was married to his brother…on my way to what he called our new home.I kept my eyes fixed on the window as the car pulled into the house, the heavy gates parting to reveal what lay beyond.
