Naomi’s POV

Morning came slow.

Not with sunlight, but with a strange kind of brightness that wasn’t warm. A pale, washed-out sky greeted us as we stepped outside, the clouds still thick and heavy. The air smelled like smoke and iron. The kind of scent that clings to your skin, your clothes, your thoughts.

The square was already filling.

People stood in clumps, clutching their coffee cups, children’s hands, and nervous hope. Others perched on benches or stood along balconies, watching. The tension wasn’t loud. It was breath-held, spine-straight, pulse-tight.

This wasn’t a rally.

This was a reckoning.

I stood near the steps of the old town hall, the scroll in my hand again. My fingers were numb, not from cold, but from the weight of everything it meant. Of everything that was about to change.

Logan was beside me. He hadn’t left my side since last night. He hadn’t needed to say much either. His presence alone was steadying...like a tether.

Marcus stood a few steps behind, his arms crosse

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 125: MY PEACE

NAOMI'S POVWhen mom and I had finished catching up for as much as we could, after I had told about my job and the transfer I decided to go to my room. I needed to rest, reboot this evening. Word would reach Marcus soon and he would be here. I took a shower and lay down on my bed looking out the window. That strange plant had since been removed and the garden looked even more colorful than before. I lay down, closing my eyes and dozing off. I didn't know how much time had passed when a knock woke me up. It wasn't mom because she would have walked in if I didn't answer immediately. I stood up, still groggy from my sleep and headed to the door. I opened it annoyed with whoever it was but the person stopped me from speaking. Marcus stood in front of my door, his eyes dark with longing and pain. “You-" I began but I couldn't finish it, not when he threw me into a hug. I couldn't help but melt into it, the feel of his strong body cushioning mine. The way his arms wrapped around m

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 124: HOME

NAOMI'S POVI closed my eyes, dozing off to the call of the sleep that tugged at my eyelids. I drifted off to sleep, into the realms of the place that had now become familiar to me. Unlike before when I dreaded coming here, I welcomed it fully now. It had become my place for peace and where I could receive advice. The whiteness was almost blinding as I looked around. I felt a breeze blow past my face before a voice spoke. “You've come," she said. I didn't bother looking around for her, she had never shown her face, not since I had first seen her. “I need your advice," I said. There was a silence before she responded, "I gave you this advice before and I will again, you have to choose” Frustration gnawed at me, I already knew that. It wasn't as if I didn't. I had to choose but how? Both betrayals still hurt and I still felt love to a degree for each of them, I couldn't possibly choose. "But how? How do I know I'm making the right decision?” I asked. "Your heart will tell you

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 123: A NEW BEGINNING

NAOMI'S POV Two weeks had passed since the battle, I had healed, I was out of the hospital now. Slowly, I regained my full strength back, with the guidance of the goddess and the white lady, I found a way to connect and finally I had received my third eye. So much had passed and yet the two men hadn't left my mind. Logan and Marcus. I hadn't chosen either of them and I planned on keeping it like that. They had tried to visit me over the weeks but I had rejected them. I didn't want to talk to them, I didn't want to change my decision, I knew they would definitely try to do that. My heart wasn't ready either. It had gone through too much, all the heartbreaks, from Marcus to Layla. I wanted to disappear to a place where no one knew me and I didn't know anyone. Where I could go to the store without the fear of seeing either of my exes. Finally I decided to make this wish come true. “Mom, I'm going to be traveling out of state” I said while we sat around for dinner. Theo and his w

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 122: THE BETRAYAL

NAOMI'S POV I turn around to look at her, my best friend. The one I had shared all the parts of me. Loved beyond measures, given my deepest and darkest secrets, her claws embedded into my shoulder. “How?" I whispered, I couldn't take them out of me. I felt the weakness seep into me, slowly and steadily. Her face scrunched up and she pulled them out, she moved to make another slash but I dodged it, tripping over. I rose quickly to my knees, as quickly as I could anyway. “How could you?" I murmured again, the feeling of betrayal tearing me apart. I had done everything, I had been a good friend. I had loved her more than I had loved myself. I had been there in moments I couldn't be for myself. Still, here it was. The claw striking towards me. I stopped her hands with mine, holding tightly. My eyes had begun to turn, I was losing more blood than I could heal from and the weakness was tearing at my insides. “I didn't want to, there's no other choice” she finally spoke, her voice

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 121: THE FINAL BATTLE II

NAOMI'S POVLogan led me through the tunnels down, the ones we had run through that day that seemed so many years ago now. We were back in it, for the same reason. “Where are we going?" I asked. “The forte" Logan said simply. He had been quiet since we had arrived here. Probably calculating and finding different ways to escape. The plan we had made was crazy, blowing this building up, destroying everything Marcus had built along with the legacy his father left for him. But there had been no choice. The tunnel suddenly narrowed further before we arrived at a small gate. Logan held the lock, “Fuck" I heard him mutter. “What happened?" I asked alarmed. We had come a long way, there was no way we could turn back for the key, too much time would be wasted. “I'm not with the fucking key" he murmured. He tried to break the key but nothing happened. I pulled him behind me, then held the key. I felt a power surge through me, almost surreal, divine even. The next thing I heard was th

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 120: THE FINAL BATTLE

MARCUS' POV A day had gone by, I hadn't heard from Naomi in all that time. I had been eagerly waiting beside my phone, hoping for her call or a text. Anything that indicated she would forgive me. Still I couldn't forget the betrayal that had been in her eyes when I told her, the way she had looked at me as if she didn't know who I was. I wasn't so sure anymore, sure that she would eventually choose me. It didn't look so. “Alpha, she's here with her lawyers," Dax said as he walked into my office. Today had been arranged to be the day of the divorce, finally I would be free of her. I could guiltlessly pursue Naomi. I wouldn't be tied to her anymore. I strode to the room purposefully. The papers were already signed, I just had to sign the documents closing the deal finally. Morticia sat alongside her lawyers, she had brought two of them today. I spared her no glance, going directly to the documents and signing them. When I had finished I asked, “Are we done?" Just as I said tha
