Slowly Swaying

Avery's POV

As I wandered aimlessly through the lush gardens overlooking the lake at the back of the mansion,a feeling of weariness washed through me. It's been two weeks since I saw him after he had that nightmare.

It was as if his every move was calculated. The twins tell me they see him on some occasions, but I barely catch even a glimpse of him. It is unbelievable that a man like Ethan had such a vunlerable side to him.

My mind goes back to that night—how he was covered in fear and mumbling only one word—dad. I had spoken back to him that night, yes, but I was extremely afraid on the inside.

The only reason for my boldness was because it occurred to me that Ethan wasn't going to separate my sons from me again—maybe not so soon. Despite the anger he had shown Camila back in Nana's mansion, I had seen pain flash in his eyes. He was like me too, willing to do anything to ensure his son's happiness, and that included me staying with them.
