Jane's POV

Jane! Jane!

My name echoed through the burning woods like a ghost’s whisper. The sound was familiar and terrifying at the same time. I was running, the crackle of fire all around me, smoke clawing at my throat, but I couldn’t stop.

People screamed in the distance, but no matter how hard I looked, I saw no one. I could hear voices but no one was there. I was alone, terrified and confused.

I was five years old again. Running through the burning woods alone just like other times. I don't know where this is or what I was doing there. But whenever I meet myself in the woods, I end up alone without answers.

Then I saw a shadow. It ran ahead of me through the trees.

Hope sparked in my chest, and I chased it, my breath ragged, praying it wasn’t just another illusion. As I got closer, I saw it was a boy or maybe a young man. I couldn’t tell. His back was to me, but I was thankful that I saw someone.

For the first time, I wasn't alone anymore. Someone was there with me. I stepped forward to see the face of the person but my name echoed again.

“Jane!” The voice came again. Closer this time.

Then a hand on my shoulder. And I jolted awake.

My heart thundered in my chest, sweat clinging to my skin. My eyes darted around the soft light, the dark walls, and Josephine’s face staring at me with a mix of surprise and confusion.

“Jane, why are you sleeping in Alpha Liam’s room?” she asked.

Her voice hit me like cold water, dragging me back to reality. The dream faded into the back of my mind, and the memories of last night crashed in like a wave. Alpha Liam’s pain, his touch, his kiss, the way he held me like I was his anchor.

How was I supposed to explain that without sounding like a cheap maid throwing herself at the alpha?

“I… how did I get here?” I asked, blinking as if I was disoriented, trying to look as confused as possible.

Then I added with a little laugh, “Oh my… I have this horrible habit of sleepwalking sometimes.”

She raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. “You sleepwalked all the way here?” She asked.

Why won't this woman let it slide? How did I end up oversleeping? My plan was to leave after Alpha Liam fall asleep but I ended up sleeping too.

“I don't know how to explain this…” I threw off the duvet too quickly, tangled my legs, and I crashed to the ground with a loud thud.

“Ouch!” I cried, landing on the floor in the most awkward way possible.

Josephine rushed over and helped me up. “Careful, Jane!”

“Thanks,” I mumbled, brushing myself off. But the embarrassment didn’t go away. I was too embarrassed to stay, to even look at her. I couldn’t stay there a second longer.

Without warning, I ran out of the room, down the hall. I didn’t even know where I was going, I just ran as fast as I could. My feet carried me blindly, my mind still fogged with too many thoughts and dreams.

“Jane?” She called after me but I didn't stop.

Then I slammed into something, or someone hard and fell back again, my breath knocked out of me.

Strong arms caught me before I hit the ground completely.

And when I looked up and I saw alpha Liam's eyes burning into mine from a distance. But it wasn’t him I bumped into. It was someone else.

I looked up and the man in front of me was definitely not Alpha Liam or anything like him.

He wore a perfectly fitted black suit, the kind that whispered power, paired with a black shirt and a sharp blue tie that made his features pop. His face looks… soft. Almost delicate and pretty. No beards, no hard edges like Liam’s. Just clean brown hair, neatly trimmed eyebrows, and lashes so long they could’ve belonged to a model.

Again, I stumbled back in panic, my heart lurching at the unfamiliar touch. He reached out and steadied me, his hands firm on my arms.

Who is this man? And what's he doing here? I wondered as I stared at him in awe. He was undeniably pretty and I couldn't help but admire him.

“A pretty new face,” he said smoothly, his eyes scanning mine. “Liam didn’t tell me how beautiful you look.”

Alpha Liam? His name alone wiped my thoughts away. My eyes darted to him again and there he was. His entire body was stiff with rage, his eyes burning faintly like a warning sign.

He strode toward us, silent and dangerous. Then, without a word, he yanked the stranger’s hands off me and pulled me roughly behind him.

“Why are you out here?” he demanded, his voice laced with fury.

“I—I lost my way,” I stammered, too confused and shaken to think clearly.

His jaw clenched. “Find your way back before I do something else.”

The threat in his voice hit me like a cold slap. My legs trembled beneath me, frozen by his tone. He looked at me like I’d done something wrong, like I had betrayed him just by existing in front of another man.

I wanted to run away but I couldn’t move. Not because I was frozen but because his grip on my wrist was tight.

“Why are you still here?” he snapped again.

I stared at him, my voice barely above a whisper. “You’re still holding me.”

He looked down at his hand gripping my wrist and dropped it like I was a plague or a disease.

“Get out of here now!” he barked.

And I didn’t need to be told again. I turned and ran, my heart pounding in my chest. His rage echoed in my ears as I disappeared down the hall.

Why did he yell at me? What did I do wrong? The least he could do is to respect me as his pain relief.

I was terrified, humiliated, and more confused than ever. Alpha Liam was on a mission to drive me to the edge of sanity and if care is not taken, I might lose my sanity in the process of getting to find answers.

“Jane!” I heard his voice but I didn't answer.

“Jane!” He called again. “You know I don't like repeating myself,” he said as his footsteps approached.

I looked around me and there was nowhere to hide. I was in his room, in his game and it is his rules.

  • Breaking the Alpha's curse    Jane

Jane “You are a curse in human form,” his words were still ringing in my head as I sat on the edge of my bed. Night came so fast and I was supposed to go to him. But I couldn’t go, not after what he said. He wants me to stay away from him after telling me I was his pain relief. What kind of a weirdo was he? He called me a curse. His words clutched my chest tightly. If he saw me as a curse, why did he buy me from Alpha Theo? Why did he refer to me as his pain relief? When I thought I was starting to understand him, he insulted me and pushed me away. So I've decided not to go to him tonight. He can't push me away and expect me to draw to him again. Never. He might have bought me and save me from disgrace but his insults are more than I can bear. Lost in my thoughts, I didn’t expect the door to burst open. But it did. And the worst part was Alpha Liam strode in like a storm, his eyes blazing.“You didn’t come,” he said simply, like he couldn’t quite believe it.Shocked to see him,

  • Breaking the Alpha's curse    Jane

JaneAs I walked through the hallway, my mind drifted to the old book I found in Alpha Liam's study. That book had something I should know. The way I reacted to that book was not ordinary. The way it seemed to hum in my veins. I needed to see it again. I needed to understand why it felt like a part of me. It could answer my questions, if not all of them. With determination, I went to his study again. I shouldn't have gone back there. But something kept pulling me there. I don't know if it was curiosity or a supernatural connection. The door creaked as I stepped inside. The scent of him still lingered in the air, strong with something darker. It felt like a warning but I didn't adhere to it. Instead, I moved swiftly. I moved toward the shelf where I’d first seen the burnt book, my fingers trembling as I reached for the stack. I searched through the first stack, then the second and found nothing. “It should be here,” I told myself as I searched through it again. “Looking for somet

JaneAs I stirred awake, I looked around me as the memories of last night flooded my mind. Alpha Liam! I jumped up to see him but to my greatest disappointment, I woke up alone.I was on the bed and the sheets beside me were cold. His scent lingered faintly in the air but the alpha was nowhere to be found.A sudden tightness gripped my chest. I wanted to know if he slept well. To know if his pain had relieved him. To hold him this morning if he still needed me to. But he left. He left before I woke up. I got up slowly, pulled on my dress, and stepped into the hallway. Because he didn't wake up beside me doesn't mean I can't check up on him in his room. So with determination, I went to his room. Another wave of disappointment washed over me when I got there. His room was empty, the fireplace was dying. Where would he be this morning?Maybe his study.I turned and made my way to his study, hoping he’d be there buried in books. But he wasn't there either. Where was he? I wondered as

  • Breaking the Alpha's curse    Alpha Liam

Alpha Liam's POV I woke before the sun did. Even before the birds started singing. Before anyone in the castle stirs awake. The room was still as I turned to the person beside me. Last night's event flooded my mind like a wave. My heart ache started, I dragged myself to Jane's room, I kissed her and slept beside her. Despite the storm in my mind, the room was too quiet. If not for the sound of her soft breathing beside me, I wouldn't have believed that last night happened. She was curled beside me, her head resting near my chest, her hand lightly over my shirt, as if it belonged there. And the most unsettling part was that it felt like it did. My heart, the most traitorous thing, beat more steadily than it had in months. The ache that usually clawed at my ribs during the night was gone. It was silenced all because she had touched and held me.I can't believe that I crawled back to her after doing everything in my power to stay away. I don't know why things just end up the way I d

  • Breaking the Alpha's curse    Jane

Jane's POV I thought the dream had ended until something gripped my leg.It was hard and desperate. Tight enough to take me from the dream world to the real world. I jolted upright, screaming as my heart was still racing from the dream and the grip.As I opened my eyes, it was no longer smoke or fire that surrounded me. It was darkness. Real and heavy darkness. The type that blind your eyes and heart at once. Quickly, I turned on the lamp beside my bed. And there, at the edge of my bed, was a figure. My breath stopped as I saw Alpha Liam. He was on his knees, clutching my leg like an anchor, his face masked with pain. His whole body trembled slightly, and his muscles became tense. One of his arms was wrapped tightly around his chest, the other grasping my thigh as if I was the only thing keeping him grounded.“Jane,” he said, groaning. The low, ragged sounds pulled from his throat scared the hell out of me. The way his head hung down, the way he clutched his chest reminded me of

  • Breaking the Alpha's curse    Jane

Jane's POV I stood in front of Alpha Liam’s door, my hand hovering over the handle. Should I go in? Would he want to see me after chasing me out like a dog? Was I ready to face him? To be honest, I was mad at him for yelling at me. One minute, he is normal, the next, he is abnormal. He acts like someone with bipolar issues. I turned the handle and stepped inside, bracing myself for whatever happens. He was already sitting on the edge of the bed, shirt half-buttoned, hair still damp from a shower. His eyes were on me the second I entered. Surprisingly, it was not cold or dark. It was like he was waiting for me to come.“I'm here to sleep with you,” I said without thinking. He patted the space beside him. “Sit.”Now he wants me to sit beside him. What is going on with this man? Did carrying the weight of a pack cause him to have a twisted brain?I hesitated for just a moment, then crossed the room and sat beside him, not too close, but close enough to feel the heat radiating from hi
