37. Friend or Foe?

I have rarely been taken off guard, have rarely become stupefied but at this moment, I was. I stood rooted to my spot. I was highly aware of Myra's weighing gaze at the back of my head but I was too dumbstruck to do much. I hadn't seen him since...it's been years maybe. Appearance-wise he hadn't changed, he looked more roguish though with his shabby overcoat and frayed breeches, but his golden eyes were sharp as ever. A smile grazed his lips as he stared at me. 

"We meet after a long time, Raul." He walked up to me until he was just one step shy from invading my personal space. "Connor," I uttered. I didn't know I would ever see him again, not after what I did to his mate.
