Seth had become super nice to me after that fight in his office, it was kinda annoying really. I had ended up agreeing to go with him to New Orleans even though I really didn't want to. Even now as I sat on the living room couch doing my work he was sitting beside me watching tv. I wanted to ask him to go somewhere else, to give me some space but he seemed to think that the more he was around me the less mad I would be at him.
We had talked more that next day and it was clear that I didn't trust him as far as I could throw him but I also believed him when he said he was trying. Our fight only brought around sex and although amazing it solved nothing. Sex was his way of making up and hoping the problem went away on its own.
Glancing at the time I sighed saving my work and setting my computer down on the coffee table in front of me. We had about an hour before we would have to leave for the airport and my bag wasn't even halfway packed, in fact, it was still sitting open i
The next morning I awoke with a groan as Seth rolled over me to grab his phone and hit snooze on his alarm. I was already regretting telling him I would go to the skate park with him. I mean yes, I wanted to see him skate, mostly so I could make fun of him, but I also wanted to sleep. I loved sleep almost more than I loved him.Snuggling into Seth's chest I tried my best to go back to sleep but his phone was soon blaring again. "Ugh, why do we have to be there so early."Seth laughed kissing my forehead, "It's not even that early, it's 9:30."I looked up at him, "exactly, I don't like to get up until 11."Seth shook his head at me as he sat up, "come with me to take a shower. I'll wake you up."Snorting I shook my head as I pulled the covers over my head, "don't you ever think of anything else?"Seth crawled over me getting out of bed, once up he reached down jerking the covers off of me, "come on baby girl get up or we will be late."
I had never been a fan of plane rides but this one seemed to take an eternity. Since I didn't have any bags it didn't take me long to find Brooke who was waiting for me with open arms. I could tell she had been up all night but even so, I'm sure she looked better than me. I was still in my dress and heels from the club and I already knew my makeup looked a hot mess. Brooke didn't blink an eye as she hugged me and led me to her car.Our ride to her condo was made in silence, she knew I needed time and I would talk to her when I was ready. It took over a week for me to be able to talk to her about Seth. A week of torturous silence from his end. Brooke had gone above and beyond getting what she had called my necessities. In fact, she had gotten so much stuff I didn't have to buy anything for weeks. It had taken me almost three month to begin to pick up the pieces of my broken life. I wanted nothing to do with anything Seth, each and every day that passed I grew angrier and
I'm sure I looked ridiculous hiding under my covers like a child but in my bed, I could pretend that I had dreamed him up. I finally convinced myself to get up and put my pajamas back on. I had already twisted my hair up and was on my way to remove my makeup when I heard beating on my door. Not knocking but beating, like the fucking police were outside. I tiptoed in my hallway looking down the hall at my door, it seemed further away from normal like in those dreams where no matter how far you run it's still just as far away.My legs shook as I slowly made my way forward, I was scared to look through my peephole to
Driving to meet Brooke I could not believe what I had just done, and judging from Seth's face I'm pretty sure he couldn't believe it either. I knew that Brooke would really get a kick out of what happened but I wasn't ready to tell her as I sat across from her. She was super excited that I hadn't flaked on her and started making all these plans of things we could do.As she talked I stared down at my phone, my work email came to my phone so if he did reply I would know. My mind began to wander and I wondered if he would write or not, I would be lying if I said I didn't want him to. I did, this was something he would have to go out of his way to do for me. As much as I wanted him to write me was as much as I had no clue how I would respond to him if he did."Kennedy, are you even listening to me?" I looked up at Brooke who was staring at me, I had obviously missed something. "Yeah, I'm sorry what were you saying?"She rolled her eyes at me, "I said we should go get
I had never responded to Seth's last email, I couldn't. I didn't know what to say. In all honesty, I was afraid I would break, so I just didn't email him back. It had been a week since we had talked. I knew from Brooke that he was still in town but as far as I was aware he hadn't been back to her place, of course neither had Dutch. He was now banned from her apartment until he learned to behave. Not that it stopped her from going to him.Friday had been a killer day, I had been called into a staff meeting only to be trapped at the office for eight hours as we went over the holiday design plans. Leaving the office I shook my head seeing it was already past 5 PM. I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things before heading home. Brooke had let me know she was going out with Dutch tonight when I had texted her inviting her over to eat. Selfishly I was kind of aggravated at her for not being mad at him anymore about the whole Seth situation. I had yet to speak to him sin
The next morning I awoke feeling as if yesterday had been all a dream. Seth had left after settling me down and I was more than a little disappointed that him leaving had been his idea and not mine. I was supposed to have been the one to kick him out of my condo but instead, I had clung to him as he held me. Weak, I was fucking weak where he was concerned. I knew I was in denial. I still loved him and as much as I hated him I wanted his words to be true.Getting up I reached over grabbing my phone frowning when I saw that my phone had no new messages, the only thing happening on it was my email. Walking to the bathroom I reached down turning my bathtub water on adding in some rose oil. Brushing my hair I twisted it up before sinking down into the hot water. Reaching forward to turn the water off I leaned back staring up at my ceiling. I hadn't slept good last night, in fact, I had to resist the urge to call Seth several times. Damn him for having the nerve to show up he
The words had shocked us both. I hadn't expected them to fall from my lips but now they were out I couldn't find it in me to retract them. If I was honest with myself at all I would admit it was true. I needed him to wrap me in his arms and tell me things would be ok. I needed him to fight for me. Hell, I needed him to restore my faith in him.He had told me he was on his way and the entire time I waited I was a nervous wreck. My stomach was in knots and my hands were shaking. I paced around in my living room as I waited, I felt like the rug should be threadbare from all the circles I had walked. In the end, it took him about thirty minutes before he knocked on my door. Even expecting him my heart stopped beating at the sound. It was as if the room suddenly had all of the air sucked out of it as I made my way to the door unlocking it with shaking hands.Opening the door slowly I took Seth in. He had changed and was in a pair of grey sweats and a simple white tee. Damn
The next morning I awoke to an empty bed and I could almost make myself believe that I had dreamed up the whole night. Almost, the fact that was laying naked in bed and could smell coffee made it clear that last night had been no dream. Looking up at the ceiling I wondered if I was actually ready to forgive him, could I really move past what all had gone down between us.Getting up I went to the restroom and took care of my morning routine before pulling on some leggings and an oversized tee. Sliding on some socks I headed toward the kitchen, pausing in the entry. I couldn't help but smile as I found Seth placing bacon in a skillet and had things out to make eggs. Walking into the room I poured myself a cup of coffee before sitting at the bar so I could watch Seth cook.Seth turned to look at me before washing his hands, "I hope you don't mind. I was going to bring you breakfast in bed."I nodded, "no you're good."He arched his brow walking up beside me.
