The vast, quiet mansion swallowed everything but the heat passing between them.

Every marble floor, every soaring ceiling stood strictly vacant. His father possessed endless wealth, enough to command an army of staff, yet chose only weekly caretakers to scrub the estate clean. Now, that immense silence narrowed down to a single point. Eyes locked. Glances collided like flint striking steel, waiting to see who would burn first.

Alem swallowed, a sharp rattle clearing his throat and breaking the silent tug of war.

"Is the room open? I need to take my things upstairs."

"It is open," Caeden said, his tone dripping with slow, deliberate malice. "And fully prepared to welcome you to hell."

Alem offered no reply, choosing instead to heft his luggage into his arms. He gathered the remaining bags close against his chest, his eyes fixing on Caeden, a silent demand for direction.

Caeden rose from his seat with languid grace. He led the way toward the staircase, aware of every heavy step following close behind him. Instead of picking up his pace, Caeden deliberately slowed his tempo, turning every step into an agonizing crawl. Over his shoulder, he caught the flush creeping up Alem’s neck, the strain of carrying the heavy weight at such an agonizingly slow pace. A dark half smile tugged at the corner of Caeden’s lips. Then, without warning, he sprinted up the final stretch of stairs, leaving Alem breathless behind him.

Reaching the top floor, Caeden swung the bedroom door wide open.

Because the air conditioning had been off for hours, a heavy wall of trapped air rushed out to meet them. Alem exhaled sharply, his composure crumbling instantly as the stale atmosphere hit his senses. It was a suffocating mix of damp, unwashed laundry, the sharp sting of spilled liquor, stale cigarette smoke, and beneath it all, the heavy, intoxicating note of Caeden’s sandalwood cologne.

"Damn it! Is this actually a room?!" Alem snapped, throwing his bags onto the massive king size bed.

His eyes swept across the chaotic space while Caeden casually leaned against the doorframe, drinking in every second of his stepbrother's growing misery. He knew how immaculate Alem was, how obsessively neat, which made every spot of clutter an exquisite torturing device. Alem snatched the remote from the wall, switched the unit on, and scanned the floor again in disgust.

Washed up across the floorboards were piles of discarded clothes and crumpled tissues left behind from nights spent satisfying his own dark urges.

"I never thought a rich brat like you would live like a pig. Look at this place. You can literally smell your own filth here. Gross!"

"First of all... who are you?" Caeden purred, closing the distance between them, stepping firmly into Alem’s personal space.

Alem shrank back against the edge of the mattress, his breath catching as Caeden leaned over him, pressing closer until their faces were inches apart. Caeden drew a deep, steady breath, deliberately exhaling his warm, mint scented breath directly against Alem's parted lips, weaponizing every ounce of his charm.

"Second, I can hire anyone I want to clean my room, whenever I want." His voice dropped into a low, dangerous whisper that vibrated between their lips. "And third, you do not get a say in what I do because, let me remind you, this is my room."

Alem’s palms slammed against Caeden’s chest, the force sending Caeden stumbling back until his spine met the cold timber of the sealed door. Rather than showing frustration, Caeden leaned his weight into the paneling, folding his arms as a sly, leisurely smirk crept across his face. A quiet, venomous impulse whispered in his ear, urging him to push his stepbrother’s buttons just a little further. The thought flickered through his mind that Alem might harbor a quiet attraction to men, a vulnerability Caeden could easily weaponize. If he played his cards right, a little shameless seduction would drive Alem completely over the edge.

After all, Alem’s fanaticism regarding cleanliness felt unnatural, almost sinister for a young man his age. Caeden watched as Alem’s gaze darted around the room, his eyes brimming with unmistakable revulsion at every stray piece of clutter. Yet, a sudden beat of doubt made Caeden clear his throat. Perhaps he was reading too far into it, plenty of men simply preferred order over chaos.

Still, the game was far too entertaining to abandon. With deliberate slowness, Caeden hooked his fingers into the hem of his shirt and pulled it over his head, tossing it aside before kicking off his shoes. In one fluid movement, he stripped down to his underwear, exposing the sharp, carved lines of his midsection to the cool room air. He caught the exact second Alem’s eyes flicked downward. There was no admiration in that brief glance, only a twitch of deep seated disgust that made Caeden’s grin widen.

Sauntering over the mattress, Caeden sank onto the sheets. He reached down, peeled off his crumpled socks, and flicked them through the air. They landed with a soft thud directly against the nape of Alem’s neck.

Alem whipped around, but the flash of temper on his face quickly vanished, replaced by a dark, dangerous smile that promised retribution. With infuriating composure, Alem pinched the discarded socks between two fingers, carrying them toward the open trash bin near the desk. He hovered his hand over the gaping mouth of the can, preparing to let go.

"Since you threw them at me, I assume you have no further use for them," Alem said, his voice smooth and taunting. "Might as well send them straight where they belong."

"Don't you dare!"

Caeden bolted upright, lunging across the floor to intercept him. He slammed into Alem from behind, wrapping his arms tightly around his stepbrother’s torso in a desperate bid to snatch the socks back. But Alem anticipated the grab, extending his arm high and out of reach. The sudden struggle forced their bodies tightly together, pressing Caeden’s bare front flush against the soft curve of Alem’s hips.

"Give them back, Alem! Hand them over! Don't throw those away, they're my favorite pair!"

"Your favorite?" Alem sneered, twisting his torso to keep his arm elevated. "Is that why you used them as a projectile?"

As they wrestled back and forth, the friction between them grew impossible to ignore. Every frantic heave and pivot dragged Caeden’s minimal clothing directly against the center of Alem’s body. Unbidden, a thick warmth pooled low in Caeden’s belly, forcing the thin fabric of his boxers outward as his body responded to the intense physical contact. Alem was wearing soft, flexible joggers, and with every desperate tug for the socks, the heavy, swelling length of Caeden’s manhood sank deeper into the crease between his stepbrother’s thighs, pushing through the material with an undeniable, feverish pressure.

Alem froze in place, the sudden stillness thicker than any sound.

A fierce, desperate twist of shoulders followed as Caeden broke free, forcing himself around until they stood toe to toe. Breathing heavily, Caeden tracked the gaze of his stepbrother. Alem was staring, motionless, hypnotized by the sudden, unmistakable distortion beneath the thin fabric of Caeden’s cotton shorts. The unmistakable swell of an eight inch ridge pressed outward like a taut tent pole, demanding attention, impossible to disguise.

Without a single word, Alem bundled the pair of rolled socks in his hand into a tight ball and pitched them directly at the throbbing apex between Caeden’s thighs.

"Ouch!"

Caeden hissed, his hands flying down instantly to shield his ruined pride. The dull impact sent a jolt through him, triggering a harsh rush of clarity. Reality crashed down in an instant. The sudden, betraying heat pooling in his veins had not sprung from nowhere. It was the result of a mere moment prior, an accidental brush, a stray friction of his hips against the curve of his stepbrother’s body. A stray touch, and his body had traitorously ignited.

"Shit," he breathed into the heavy silence, the syllable barely audible.

"What the fuck, Caeden?!" Alem’s voice shattered the room, sharp and laced with disbelief. "Are you fucking gay?! You got hard right behind me?! Damn you! You are a complete pervert!"

Caeden’s mouth parted, his breath catching painfully in his throat. Words evaporated before he could form them, leaving him completely weaponless beneath the barrage. He watched the visible tremor of Alem’s chest, taking in every ragged breath his stepbrother exhaled.

Heat flared violently across Caeden’s cheekbones, spreading like wildfire down his neck until his whole skin burned with raw humiliation. Under the relentless, accusing glare cutting through him, every instinct screamed at him to offer an excuse, to throw up a shield, to craft a lie. Yet he stood entirely frozen, paralyzed by the scorching gaze of a judge who had already declared him guilty.

Alem’s dream of walking through the gates of Hilton University was moments away from materializing, yet the air inside the leather-scented cabin of the Lincoln Navigator felt suffocating. His mother’s eyes locked onto his through the rear-view mirror, sharp and unforgiving. Her gaze held an unspoken command, behave. She tilted her head slightly toward the driver's side, a silent reminder of the delicate balance holding their new family together. Alem severed the eye contact, turning his focus to the blur of morning traffic beyond the tinted glass. He expanded his chest, taking in a slow, steady breath to quiet the nervous flutter in his stomach. The years of studying, the endless nights spent dreaming of this campus—it was all collapsing into reality with every mile they covered."Alem, are you excited?"The deep voice belonged to Mr. Lorcan, who glanced back over his shoulder with a warm, easy smile. He adjusted his grip on the steering wheel before tossing a lighthearted wink tow

Alem moved through the quiet bedroom with a methodical, rhythmic patience, dragging a damp mop over the polished floorboards and sweeping away the fine dust clinging to the baseboards, entirely shadowed by his stepbrother. The floorboards groaned beneath Caeden’s restless pacing. Every turn Alem took, every shift toward a muted corner, Caeden matched. The air hung thick with unsaid things, heavy with the humid scent of lemon-scented oil and sweat, until the silence stretched thin enough to snap."Alem, I need you to listen to me! I did not want that to happen earlier, when we were wrestling over my sock!"Alem did not pause. He merely gathered the rags, the bristled brushes, and the heavy plastic bucket he had carried from room to room over the past three hours. His knuckles were pale against the bucket handle, his posture steady despite the relentless, hovering presence that had tracked his every footprint across the house."Alem!"Alem finally set the bucket down with a dull th

  • Brothers In Name Alone   Chapter 1

Caeden dragged the towel through his damp hair, his chest expanding with the rare luxury of total space. Last night had been a victory. He had stretched his limbs across the king-sized mattress, taking up every single inch of the linen, reveling in the quiet dark. His father’s original ultimatum still echoed in his mind: share a bedroom once the stepbrother arrived. Share a bed, even. No fucking way. The thought of another male’s shoulders brushing his in the middle of the night made his skin prickle. Unless it was a girl—and definitely not one carrying his last name—he demanded a strict five-foot perimeter around his personal space. He tossed the towel aside and strolled into the living room, settling onto the plush leather sofa. The silence of the mansion was deafening, the kind that usually meant his father and Lanie had already departed. Good. He leaned back, humming a mindless tune under his breath as he slipped his feet into his leather sneakers, yanking the laces tight with de

Leather upholstery groaned beneath the heavy weight of silence inside the Lincoln Navigator, the steady hum of the engine doing little to drown out the tension vibrating between them. Rain hissed against the tinted glass, blurring the neon city lights outside into long, bleeding streaks of amber and crimson."This is exactly what I refuse to keep tolerating, Caeden!"The voice rattled the quiet cabin, sharp enough to cut. His father leaned forward from the corner of the leather seat, a manicured hand slamming against his own knee, rings glinting under the dim ceiling lights."I am dragged into the guidance counselor's office as if you were still some unruly high school teenager racking up detentions every single week!"Caeden Lorcan rested his elbow against the door panel, pressing his knuckles against his jaw. He let out a long, heavy exhale that fogged the glass near his face, refusing to offer a single word. Outside, massive digital billboards towered over the freeway, flashing the
