Becoming His Dinner

I was breathing heavily because of fear and our closeness. Nash's intense gaze was not helping at all. I gulped and tried to move back, but a big tree behind me blocked my path. 

I tried to move past him, but he braced his hands against the tree on either side of me, trapping me between the rough bark and his imposing frame.

My heart missed a beat when he removed his mask. 

The faint sunlight sliced across sharp cheekbones, a defined jawline, and lips shaped like a cruel promise. His eyes, deep-set and impossibly dark, watched me like a predator sizing up something unfamiliar—but not uninteresting.

His aura was crushing.

Not wild, not reckless—controlled. Deliberate. Dangerous

He was the kind of man you felt before you saw.

Everything about him was enough to make any girl fall for him and even die to make him fall in love with her.

I'm sure the Moon Goddess must have taken a great deal of time and focus to create him.

"Take a breath, human. Are you planning to die?" Daisy chuckled, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Na—Nash," I stuttered and gulped, hating the effect he had on me. His closeness made it impossible for me to think rationally.

"Shh," he hushed me. I shivered when he slammed his hand on the tree and moved closer to me. The person whom I admired a minute ago was now terrifying my anxious soul.

"Why did you run away?" he asked, gritting his teeth. It was obvious he didn't like my actions.

"I—I got scared." I bowed my head, trying to figure out how to escape... From this closeness... From him.

He held my jaw roughly and made me look into his eyes.

"Are you sure it's only fear, nothing else?" He asked, making me frown.

"Answer!" he shouted, making me flinch. He grabbed my arm with his other hand and pulled me closer, leaving no space between our bodies, not even for air.

"When you told your friend that you wanted to send me away, I got scared.” A tear escaped despite my efforts to hold it back because of pain. 

The moment his grip on my arm and jaw loosened, I shoved him away and put distance between us. I stared at him, my expression hard and unreadable. 

“Okay… but that still doesn’t explain why you ran away.” He said with a darkened expression. I pressed my body against the tree, making sure to keep my distance from him as much as I could. 

"I hate when someone wastes my time," he grunted through clenched teeth, and this time, instead of pulling me towards him, he moved closer to me. “Answer before I lose my patience and end up eating you alive.” 

I gulped but didn't look away. Fear clawed at my insides, yet tears gathered in my eyes as the dreadful thought crept into my mind. This could be my last day alive.

"Wh—What?" he snarled, irritation dripping in his tone. 

"Do—don't kill me," I whispered, swallowing my pride. He rolled his eyes.

"I won't if you tell me why you ran." He wiped the tear from the corner of my eyes.

“Daisy said you wanted to send me away from this earth,” I muttered and bowed my head. Fear gripped my soul when he moved back, and I was convinced he was preparing to transition and eat me.

"Please don't eat me. if you do, at least make it quick."

The words escaped before I could swallow them back. So much for pretending to be brave. I closed my eyes and stood still, waiting for the pain I was certain would follow.

I kept my eyes shut, waiting for the strike.

The seconds stretched into a minute, each one heavier than the last. When nothing happened, confusion replaced my fear, and a frown tugged at my brows.

I opened my eyes and saw him laughing, his fist pressed against his mouth to muffle the sound.

"I wasn't,” he laughed and shook his head. He hit the back of my head lightly, making me frown.

“I wasn’t going to eat you, idiot. If I wanted to kill you, why would I have saved you?” he asked while laughing. I groaned, my fingers curled into a fist, realizing I made myself a fool in front of him. 

Rage burned through me, but it faltered when my gaze met his mesmerizing smile. My heart gave an unexpected flutter, much to my annoyance.

"You're too innocent to be the daughter of that wicked couple." My face hardened at the mention of my parents in the wrong way. All the memories rush through me... My parents-- their dead bodies and the most cruel betrayal of my pack members and their so-called Alpha Sebastian.

“I dare you to use absurd words for my parents or insult them,” I growled. He stopped laughing and shook his head, then looked at his friend who was standing at a distance.

“Look at her, Daniel. A moment ago, she was crying like a baby, and now she is threatening me." A cruel smile tugged at his lips. "Despite knowing it wouldn't take me more than a second to cut out her tongue," he hissed, followed by a mocking laugh. when I turned my head in another direction. In the past month, I got used to this kind of humiliation, and I did what I always do. 

I ignored him and started walking toward the mansion that once belonged to me. Now, it was nothing more than a place filled with dark memories... Worse, it was home to the man I hated most—Sebastian.

I was sure he must be searching for me, but he didn’t know that this time, when we met, it would be his last day.
